The head is one of the most vulnerable and important parts of the body, so protective headgear of all sorts have long been a staple of a decent suit of armour. The simplest designs consist chiefly of a tight-fitting leather or metal cap, securely fastened to remain atop one's head. More advanced designs include faceted sides to deflect and absorb attacks, noseguards and gorgets to protect the nose and neck, and even visors that close over the face. A sturdy helm may be one of the best investments an adventurer can make.
The Circlet and Coronet are types of headgear found only in the Expansion. Their stats are listed on the main headgear pages, but click to the Circlets page for more info about them.

- Sockets: As of v1.09 in D2X you can find helms with 3 sockets only on Hell. Up to 2 sockets can be found in Normal and Nightmare.
- Item Level: Is used in many in-game calculations, including which monsters can drop an item, what Clvl you need to be to have that item offered to gamble on it, and more. Full list of Mlvls found on Darkness.
- Clvl Req: A character must be at least this level to equip the item.
