I returned to working on Diabloii.net in early 2008, and am now managing the wiki and assisting Elly in refurbishing the rest of the site, which will shortly relaunch in an entirely new design and a modern, web 2.0 structure, as we tune up for the upcoming/eventual announcement of Diablo III. It's strongly rumored (I'm just reporting here, since I can't repeat information I was told in confidence by ex-Blizzard North employees.) that all of the years of prep-work on Diablo III were dumped in 2004, when Blizzard North shut down, and the current version of the Diablo sequel was all but begun from scratch in 2004-2005, by an entirely new team at Blizzard Irvine. There's still no official word about the Diablo sequel, and it's widely-speculated that the ongoing mega-success of World of Warcraft is causing some production issues, since Blizzard understandably doesn't want to release a new game that would cannibalize their own magnificently-successful, $15 a month MMORPG.
WoW or not, there will be a Diablo sequel at some point, and you'll be able to count on this website, or some future version of it, to cover the game like no one else. | WoW or not, there will be a Diablo sequel at some point, and you'll be able to count on this website, or some future version of it, to cover the game like no one else.
Personal: February 2008: In real life I'm a recent college graduate, a applying grad student, and an aspiring novelist. I separated from Malaya, the girlfriend I moved up here to live with, in late 2006, but I still live in the North Bay, about 15 miles north of San Francisco and 30 miles north of the old Blizzard North offices. Since 2002 I've maintained [http://www.blackchampagne.com a personal website] that features my writing, a daily blog, and years and years of wandering discourse on news, human psychology, politics, culture, and much more.
