Designing anything new in a videogame takes time and this new video called Making the Spiritborn shows why it’s a lengthy process.
Coming up with the concept is just the start when designing a new class. There’s plenty to think about including its place in the game world, basic character concept design, getting the details right to fit the fantasy, and then signing it off. It’s not easy.
Having watched this process play out at an Indie Studio I have been involved with, I can safely say it can be lengthy and there’s a lot of back and forth as ideas are tried and tested. When it does eventually all come together, it’s incredibly satisfying and I can bet the Blizzard team was pleased with end result of the Spiritborn .
This new video takes a very simplistic view of the process, and if anything, it shows the power of Post-It Notes 🙂
