Your first character after reset

I was thinking of ether doing a hammeradin or summon/poison nec, hammeradin probably cuz they are good tanks and u can make a spirt shield and weapon very easily, so props to good cheap runewords :D.

Well, my first is going to be a Summon Necro.

Tips for other players as for the first characters:

Hammerdin
Summon Necro
Trapper
Javazon
Wind Druid

...You know, something that won't die soon..because you will be way behind everyone else, and most importantly, without items or a backup high level character.

Best thing to do is get a character level 60-75, one that doesn't die easy, then build up a Barb, MF Sorc, Chanter, Bowazon, etc.

I find that the most successful build is the one you like the most. Why be summoner if you suck at them? If you are good with sorks. Be a sork. The most efficent character for ladder reset is the one you will have fun with. You will not do a good job with lets say trapper if you do not like playing them.

well said, and true.

since i have like 5 hours a week to play, im tempted to go classic. less competition there, so theres more time to crawl onto the ladder. if i do classic there's a couple of choices I gotta make...

zerker
or
shocker
or
FoH
or
hammer
or magezon

I have changed my mind from a hammerdin to a trapper. I have discovered they are insanely fast in normal. Now I havent played this guy past lvl 20 but what skills do you use?

I was thinking on:
20 Shock web
20 Charged bolt
20 Lightening sentry
20 Death sentry
And the rest in Fade.

Am I missing something since I am VERY inexperienced with trappers. Is it eg worth putting points in weapon block? I was thinking I am just running around anyways.

Just my opinion, but as I like to solo quite a bit, I max fire blast. It has most of the same synergies as LS and gets rather powerful when fully synergized. This gives you 3 types of damage (light, fire, physical), allowing you to solo anywhere in hell. Killing is only slightly slower vs. non-light immunes (as death sentry in 1 player games is ridiculously effective) and obviously faster vs. light immunes. I would not max fade at all -- about 4 points is what I put in it, relying on +skills for the rest. 7+ points in shadow master and 1 in mind blast rounds it out and gives you (imo) the best combination of safety + killing speed + versatility of any character.

Just be sure to get 20% ias gloves and either nat's set (for the damage reduction and resists, socket armor with topazes or fervor jewels) or a 3 os claw with shaels in it so you can spam fire blasts like a monkey on crack.

Playing HC for over three years has taught me not to put all my energies into one character so at the start I shall make a barb, a sorc,a necro and an amazon concurrently. The thought of making a druid, pala or assassin still makes me wince. :D

would a hammerdin work fairly good after the reset with

spirit shield + sword , rhyme armor, lore helm, rest fast cast and resist items(rings+boots+belt).
would be cheap and pretty powerfull, almost all the runes are low and easy to find

a hammerdin works with no gear. I have played two hammerdins into hell and one soloed ancient/baal with no gear, the other died in act3 with pretty good gear.

Singer baba

edit: the thing I like about all vita blizz sorc is that I can keep her through the season unchanged. Put, say, 80 points into str. Or maybe 90. Rest into vita. Now you can put on practically anything on her with slight gear changes and keep her moving until the very end of either hers, or the ladder season.
Start out with a rare orb picked off normal mephisto and end up with ocu and 3 piece of tals later on. etc. etc. Very flexible.

I'll probably do a resistance/holy fire paly to get to act3 as quickly and safely as possible then buy the biggest damage two handed ax or maul I can find and make a charger. I should be ready to hunt in a few hours. I shouldn't live long but with the havok of a restart I hope to carve a few ears.

Geddon druid ftw?

I thought : Frenzy barb. Then I remembered that I'd have very, very little killing power for either people or monsters

I thought : Kicker sin!...Then I realized that they aren't the greatest mf chars, but don't rely on weponry.

I am having the most horrible time picking a character. I like barbs, but they are horribly in-efficient. I hate all casters, but they are good when you have no gear....

Thusly I think I'm going for a H.Shocker. Spirit stuff is easy to attain, Lots of dmg, I can still run around and PK with it...etc.

I can only assume he's talking about an MF switch, as I give him enough credit not to be seen with an Occulus as a main weapon :)

Seriously though, I hate the chance to cast tele on it, but I've seen people who went 35 FCR Spirit Shield/Occy/Viper/FCR Ring to hit 105 and were able to steadily teleport through pretty much anything so the random teleports it set off were a minimal danger.

Cheers
