WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

thanks sass
I juss hav 1 more question lol

ive ~9 skill pts left over.
Should I max mb? or should I put them in claw block?
I've lvl29 mb and stun length of 7.8 seems long enuf.

I have 60 chance to block w/ claw block.
And I think at this point, higher chance to block would be more important than anything else?

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Those 9 points in Weapon will increase maybe 1-2 % ;)

MB is great since the shadow will spam it more and more (sooo useful)

MB should really be maxed on any ghost

if you can't max out MB with those 9 points, i'd think about a rebuild

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

ahh yea
i maxed it. ppl get so mad from mb finishes lol
this char is gg.
Thanks 4 the gg guide

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Just read the guide again, Awesome guide. Didn't read all the pages of comments, Just wondering if this build would be any good with PvM? I have most of the items already except for some claws, got enigma, treks, trangs, arachnid, raven, soj, sin helm and ammy giving me 70fcr amd 20 fhr, need to find some on charms.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Hi,

First, thank you TienJe, for an excellent guide. I've applied many of your ideas in a PvM WW hybrid, preparing for my first venture into PvP perhaps, and she has been a lot of fun. I'm gathering up equipment and will begin my first PvP capable Ghost soon.

I see the term "ebugged" come up in builds here and there in regard to weapons. You've described your Chaos Suwayyah as such. I have made many ebugged armors, but my understanding is that ebugging no longer has an effect on weapons. Someone at JSP explained that in previous revs of LoD it was possible to retain Ethereal benefits without the non-repairable penalty. Is this what is meant, and is it only available on NL claws made in prior revs? Could you explain "ebugged?" If you already have somewhere in this huge thread, I am remiss; I did look and couldn't find mention.

Again, thanks for the well-written and thorough guide. Wish you were on East Ladder, had an abundance of time, and took on "serious" students new to PvP--I'd be camped outside your tent in a heartbeat.

yes, that's what's meant here. ethereal items socketed with a 'zod' rune that have been converted from 1.09 to 1.10 remain undestructible and ethereal at the same time even if you remove the zod with hel + tp scroll. and along with eth, the damage multipliers and lower str/dex requirements still work.

i actually uninstalled d2 a few weeks back, as all the playing at night was starting to affect my sleep schedule and making me feel really tired at work

as moritz said, ebug in the guide refers to socketing/unsocketing an eth weapon with a pre 1.10 zod rune. ebugs aren't necessary by any means, and if you're playing a ladder where everyone is subject to the same item restrictions, you should be able to get away with the non-eth version of any claw. that being said, if you have enough wealth, you can buy a set of non-indestructible eth claws (shouldn't be more than a few hr's a piece if you make them yourself)

although i've quit playing d2, i still can't stay away from d2 theory/discussions, so i'd be more than happy to help guide you through your venture into d2 pvp. moritz and zaichiek are both good sources for sin information/strategies (and they share my sentiments for the most part), so feel free to contact them as well.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Thanks for the responses, gents. Heh, I know how the affected sleep schedule goes--I've had to do manage things similarly on occasion. Balance is a very good thing. Good to hear that you are still willing to share your knowledge.

Thanks for the pointers. I've read a bit of Moritz's offerings here, and much of Ziecheik's on JSP. My first serious build this season was a kicker, so I found Ziecheik's knowlege base quite helpful. You all seem very well-practiced.

Now, it's not so much theory ("what"), but the "how" of actually executing techniques in game consistently that will be the challenge--effective setup and use of hot keys, keyboard/mouse control and timing, and when to use what against whom, etc.. Becoming proficient with a PvP sin will require more of an investment than with many other character types, and I'm not yet convinced that the potential enjoyment will be worth the investment. The pub ladder PvP world is rank with undesirables, and I'm not sure I want to deal with them just yet. We'll see.

Thanks again, peace.

the skills you need for playing a sin are really the same ones you'd need to play any other character (proficiency with the mouse, coordination of hotkeys, speeding up reactions), so i don't think the sin will take that much longer to learn than any other character (respectable character anyway :whistling:). figuring out what skills to use when is something you need to do with any character you play (though i will concede that there's definitely more options with the sin because of the number of skills it has at its disposal).

the sin is probably the only char that never got boring for me. my pvp arsenal included characters from all 7 classes, but the sin was undeniably my favorite.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

First off: awesome guide :)

I played a Ghost some time ago, and liked it a lot. As a variation on it, i made a ww/trap hybrid, but didn't like it as well as the ghost. Now i have some questions:

When building the ww/trap hybrid, i got my hands on a 3 shadow/20fcr/ 2s circlet. Regarding the sockets, you recommend Jah + 15ias15@. Now i'm rebuilding the ghost, what are your thoughts on 2x Ber, thus saving skillpoints you'd otherwise put into Fade for the %dr? Or 2x 5/5 facets to make the poison hurt more?

Also, i see a lot of people using Suwayyahs. Are these viable clawchoices or are they too slow?

Thanks in advance :)
Regards,
Dizzy

Smallest chunk of text, easiest to answer :P

Suwayyah are chosen to WSM bug the claws. It is described in detail in the claw section. They are slow, but with a Runic, and bugging, they are even faster than a Runic combo.

Having said that, you need to outside IAS.

Bering the helm is usually done in hybrids since they'd get a much lower fade (less dr) than Ghosts can. After reasonable dr, res etc, then Jah, but focus more on the first two. :) For the IAS/Res jewel, the 15 res is useful, but not the ias, so if you have other mods, it's more icing on the cake.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

How important is physical damage?
Cuz I'm using 2 greater talons atm.. i made em myself.. cuz I found 2
1 Had + 2 venom +1 mb and the other +3 venom +1 ls +1 df
Since I read there can be venom orientated builds and physical damage orientated builds..My damage for ww is now 2.4k-3.2k

Is this really a bad thing? Since tienje's has 4k+ or something..

if you're using 9 shadow gcs, GT's are fine

if you want to use physical damage, you'll have to swap more than just your claws.

as long as you build one or the other and stick to the plan, you'll be fine.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

Keep in mind that numbers rarely matter. TienJe has 4+k due to a physical ghost with a bugged Suwayyah. This deals alot more damage, but isn't the only option to go ofc.

With Venom based, the numbers may not seem high, but when WWing a stun locked opponent, that venom will hurt; especially vs sorcs and necs.

Re: WW Ghost Assassin Guide V2.0

y well I figure as soon as I have those lifers.. I have over 4k life..
If i play the ghost well I should get similar results in dueling than higher dmg builds.. the use of the character stunning/trapping/namelocking stays the same no matter what..
