Wow....i'm so impressed by pk's

/sarcasm off

So my first HC toon ( 69 hammerdin ) died this morning from some d**kless little f**ktard.

In the middle of doing a baalrun together as I'm hammering away he goes hostile. His blizzard that i was standing in killed me imediately.

Is this what I have to look forward to in hardcore? Little bnet kiddies taking out all their pent up sexual frustrations out on the real people who want to have a little fun?

I just don't understand the thought process that this person could have had. "I know, I'll trick him in to thinking we are partners then I'll stab him in the back without giving him a fighting chance. I'll have wasted the past week he spent levelling up his toon and I'll be really really cool doing it"

The sad thing is that even when these people grow up, they'll probably still be too stupid to know how sad they are.

I'm no fan of tppks either, but for all your "pkers are such nerds with no life who take this game way too seriously", you seem terribly upset with your death...

If I had died from some boss pack or minion that's one thing....but to die the way I did with no honor was a little maddening yes.

I guess I just had too much faith in people's good nature.

Note to self: Don't stand in 89 blizz sorcs blizzard

if you see someone blizz or orb or bone spear etc at you and theres nothing, move away. i lost my lv 66 hammerdin to a charger. TT

Your title should read: "I'm so impressed with tppkers"

Yes, tppkers suck but don't group them with legit pkers.

I say this mainly because I thought for sure that this was a 'Pkers suck and they are newbs and have nothing better to do" thread. Then I saw that Matt posted and thought for sure that he flamed you for it.

But yea, tppkers are a pain, once you get used to it though, they are pretty easy to identify/avoid.

Ooooh, nice avatar... I'm feelin the llama.

Anyways. Yeah, tppks do suck, and legit pkers dont. Dont really feel like getting anymore into it, because I dont think anyone is apt to disagree... but if they do, well, we'll cross that bridge if we get to it...

He stole the idea from me before I thought of it. And I am pretty sure he stole it from mouse's sister to :)

Sniff, sniff ... he forgot about me. I should probably be offended. We just past the 5 year anniversary of this game, so that means I've been arguing against PKing for over 5 years now. If you REALLY want to have another go at this old argument, bring it on, I'm still here waving the antiPK flag. And I still see no real difference between a TPPK and a 'legit PK', both are griefers who get off by victimizing noobs and the inexperienced.

And to the OP:
Yes, you can expect a lot more of this in HC. It's the reason you see so few NM and Hell games. Public games are too unsafe, so the vast majority of players play private games. 'Run' games (Baal, Cows, Enchant) are almost guaranteed to attract PKs. Unless someone is a trusted friend, figure their sole purpose in the game is to kill your character, and you'll do much better. Never party with high levels (most probably your mistake here. A L69 was probably doing NM Baals, and a L89 Sorc has no business in a NM game, she can get no experience there. So it's 99.99% probable that she was there only to TPPK.), never be the first one down a TP, and never trust anyone who says 'trust me'. HC is tough, the game is the same, but there are exponentially more griefers here that you'll need to deal with.

What really gets me and this case is no differant is that every time someone is TPPKd its like some big shock. The OP has posted here before so most likely he has seen 1 of the 48000 OMG i just got TPPK threads. TPPK is nothing new , its been around in 1 form or another for longer then most of us have even played this game. But yet everyone is so suprised when it happens.
When will you people learn to take some responsibility for your own "life"? You continuely play in public baal runs even though it is prime hunting ground for TPPKs. Its like complaining you got hit by lightning whilst standing out in a storm holding onto a radio antenna , DUH!
Its so easy to combat TPPKs its not even funny. In fact Ill give you my strategy that I used to get to 97 this current ladder and has also protected me my entire D2 playing career in which I was never TPPKd or even Pkd for that matter.

Step 1: Find a few friends to play with

Step 2: Play with said friends exclusively

Step 3: Do not play in public run games (ie Baal runs , tomb runs sewer runs)

Step 4: If you find the need to play in said run games dont party. If you want that xp from a full game , find a near full game and level elsewhere.

Its laziness that fuels a TPPKs prey. People join public runs out of laziness really. If you even semi play the acts you should be 85+ easily before even hitting baal. But yet you get rushed to hell baals and do them at 69 when you should still be in NM. Or you may have still been in NM and gotten TPPKd ( wasnt noted here) but still your fault for not thinking " hmm why would an 89 be in NM?"
It might be a little extreme paranoia to play like I did but it kept me safe and I made some great friends and we all watched out for each other. In fact I can probably count on 1 hand how many deaths there were in baal runs I ran, of my friends or myself.

Eidt: Ive echoed pretty much the same thing as Bongo did , though Im very pro legit PK

I'd rather not. If after this long, neither of us has changed our minds, we're not going to now. Agree to disagree?

so i'm a griefer...nuts

but i ask you, if i was to "victimize the noobs and inexperienced" regardless, would you rather me do it with ample warning and time to react? or would you rather me cheat?

its a simple question and any anti-pk can theorize it and twist it all they want....but in the end its a yes/no answer. would you rather me cheat? the answer is No. Therefore, in that simple 2-letter 1-word answer, you can very plainly see that legit pks and tppk's are not the same. Argue that all you want, its redundant.

Sure both types are PVP players attempting to kill PVM players, but to say that there are no extremes, that one method is the same as the other regardless of fair or foul play is stubborn and closed minded. Thats all I have to say about that.

Yes that is what you have to look forward to in pretty much every single HC public game. It was like that in 1.09 and is the same now.

If you have to do a baal run in a public game and your a melee char or a hammerdin (a char that has to get close to the action) stay away from the enemies and where they spawn. Stay off in the lower left hand corner or right far away enough so that they can't see you. If you are partied and someone starts shooting you with whatever spell leave immediatly.

The best way though is to get some friends and do baal runs tomb ect. ect.

Might I suggest softcore? You really don't seem cut out for this game mode.
I have been playing hc ever since it was possible in diablo, and i also hate tppk and wouldnt mind beating the **** out of them in person if i ever came across one in a internet cafe, if you dont think that there is something wrong with tppk's then its you that have a problem and not this guy

NightShade never said that he likes tppk. I THINK...not sure...BUT THINK...that he was saying that tppk is going to be apart of the game. It is never going to go away. TPPK has been around since D1. If you can not handle the tppk then HC is not for you becuase its just...there. So if you can not handle/evade it. You are better off where it does not happen.
