Why run Thresh Socket?

I now, another anoying noob thread. But, I've been running him lately, and got quite some good stuff. I have done about 1,500 runs now, and here are the results (in order found):

Lo Rune (Thresh Socket)
IK Forge (Thresh Socket)
IK Stone Crusher x2 (Thresh Socket)
Jah Rune (Thresh Socket's Evil Urn) [Stopped my heart from beating]
IK Will (Thresh Socket)
IK Soul Cage (Thresh Socket)

(I have the screenshots, but haven't gotten an image hosting site account yet, If I can, I'll get an account and post them. Mainly the Lo + Jah + IK Soul Cage screenshots.)

Along with several elite uniques such as Flamebellow, and some other elite sets. I only mentioned the ones I kept (Ran with IK barbarian, so IK stuff). I found numerous low runes and other sets some look for, but no screenshots because they were no use.

Character Statistics:
Class: Barbarian (IK Melee)
Level: 81
Magic Find: 249%
Players Setting: 1

Diablo 2 - LoD information:
Realm: Single Player
Version: 1.13c

I consider myself pretty lucky since I've seen several threads with people doing 1000's of runs and the highest rune being a Ko, and no IK Soul Cage after 7000 runs.

So here are my questions:

1. Are my finds below/above average, or average? (Pretty much, am I lucky?)

2. Has anyone else tried running Thresh Socket? If so, I would like to know the number of runs, players setting, magic find, and any runes/good items found.

So overall, I would consider running Thresh Socket because he's easier then Pindleskin, he can drop decent stuff, I got a Jah rather than running Lower Kurast for 1 month to cube a Cham (which I did :D).

1.) Your drops don't seem unreasonable. Rune drops can't really be factored in because they are unaffected by MF and just about any creature in Hell can drop high runes.

So overall, I would consider running Thresh Socket because he's easier then Pindleskin

In what way is he easier? A Blizz sorc or Javazon can kill Pindle in about two seconds and it takes less time to reach him than Thresh Socket.

Because I have a barbarian and his charge takes down like over half my life. But if you have a lv 99 sorceress, I see what you mean. Just use chain lighting. But for characters that can't manage pindleskin, thresh socket is better.

And also, running both would be nice, if you can get a good thresh map. Mine i can reach him in about 5 seconds, he's right next to the waypoint.

I got a maras once off thresh. He's never, ever dropped anything worthwhile besides that.

If I play another ladder, which is in serious doubt now that they are catering to botters overtly, I may go back to just running baal, diablo and mephisto. The SUs are just weak sauce and very low rates of return.

Well, at least that. I've been trying to mine a Metalgrid lately (which Thresh can't drop) off the Council (407% mf), and still haven't found one after about 5000 runs. Even though, after mf + 11 members on p7 is added, the chance is about 1:3600. I'm still trying though...

You are better off with running an area in my opinion. I found 2 Metalgrids in 2 weeks last ladder, only by running Chaos Sanctuary.

Edit: not to mention the Mara, and other nice items I got. Don't drive yourself crazy about one item.

Yeah, i shouldn't go that crazy, but I need the Att rating and Iron Maiden (barb, not necro). But I did find a Syrph's Hymn off the Council, which apparently Metalgrid + Syrph's Hymn can be found on Sp, but the Arreat Summit states otherwise!!

You can find Ladder only unique items in SP. Of course this is false to Runewords.
