where to mf?

I'm a lvl 73 blue sorc (i followed mccain's guide for blue sorc for 1.11)
i have a lvl 50 merc
my items so far are total trash
only stuff i've found
i got rushed through to hell a4
i can't solo nm meph without going to town to revive merc and get pots like 5 times
what does everyone suggest i do?
i would like to try to see this sorc all the way through
but i lack gear and any means to get better gear
is there an easier place to mf?
is this sorc only meant for if you already have all the elite items?

hmmmmmm imo Paladins are now the best Mfers since they take so little damge, and do so much damage.

but to answer your question--->

i like to do Pit runs , they are the highest bracket monsters (so they an drop items from any bracket) and are the easiest to kill out of all the other mobs that can drop items from the highest bracket.

The Pit is located in A1 in Taemo Highlnds (Between the Outer cloister, and the Black marsh.)

i would make a paladin but you gotta keep in mind i'm starting from scratch
so i need a character that can help start and build up an item base
is mfing with a pally with crappy items feasible?
also if you are talking pits in hell difficulty i will die before i even get into the pit
my merc is weak and i am weaker
:|
should i start over with a different build that's easier for mfing?

You can make decent equipment like a Spirit sword and a Rhyme Shield. Give your merc an Insight weapon, trade a tal's mask for some pgems to give him some life leech.

You can also try to get a bad viper with pgems.

With that setup my 70 sorc had zero trouble with nm mephisto, neither the merc or my sorc needed any pots. I found Titan's, Lidless Wall so far after like 20 Mpeh runs. Maybe lucky, but it's nice stuff to trade with. I got a Wizardspike from my Lidless Wall so I have enough resistance now for Hell, and I traded a Lem for a Stormshield. My sorc has maxed res now in hell and is a pretty good tank, although she has low damage (+3 all skills).

According to AS, even NM Memp has 0% drain effectiveness so that means characters and mercs could not leech life or mana from him. Therefore either your merc does huge damage to make a quick fight of it or u have a life tap wand on switch to allow merc to leech (and leech a lot hehe) Another option is the shift 1,2,3 routine to feed potions to merc especially in hell item running. I have started out hobo poor this ladder season after a LONG time out and with my summon necro he was doing hell pits, Mausoleum and Andy (clvl 68+) with thrash people won't pick up and i had guil face helm, Skin of the flayed one demonhide armor and non eth Insight CA (self made) on might merc and i didn't have to step to Act 2 hell until i got enigma, nicer merc gear, etc. In the end with better gear i also run Ubers with my necro until i got rich enuff to retire him for general mf/gambling/crafting and let a pet Insight iron golem join his army and have a newly made smiter take over Ubers hehe Thing with summon necros is understanding curses and minion control. But back to topic : picking up every flawless gem and cubing them to perfects is a sure way to get better gear. Have some crushing blow and leech on merc and if you are short on fcr and are still poor, craft some caster belts yourself. Best of luck ^^

Ah didn't know that about a merc. I used to run meph without one in 1.09, so I'm kinda new to letting him tank. Then it must be his health regen that does it. Anyway, with a lvl 70 merc NM Meph isn't very hard. My sorc can tank him too, but needs a little health pots then.

What I forgot to say is: get a new merc. A merc is the most important thing in 1.11. You can just hire a level 70 one instead of your level 50, with the same aura. A low level merc is useless.

thanks for the great advice
i bought an a2 merc for the life regen aura
i thought the level on the merc maxed out at a certain point
what is the general economy for trading pgems?
thanks for the help guys i guess i'll keep at it
