When is the 1.13 release date?

Hey Guys,

Been away from the dii community for about a year or so now, but for a few days I've been thinking about returning. It feels like that time of the year when a little d2 would be just awesome.

First of all, I just red the news about 1.13 patch and I think it it's awesome that blizzard still makes an effort to polish a game that's so old! It really proves that they listen to their fans and care to make their games a bit closer to perfect. :)
What I'm thinking is, maybe it's better to hold off until the release of 1.13 since I'm fresh starting anyway.

My question is, does anyway know when the planned release date is? I've been trying to search several forums including blizzard's own, but I can't find anything concrete.

I am assuming you know there is a private realm to test 1.13 in its current beta stage? Just log on to Battle.Net and change realm to 'Beta Classic', its a temporary PTR (Private Test Realm). You can play v1.13 there, and if you want to play 1.12 just switch realms and the game will automatically downgrade.

As for its official release, Bashiok (the community manager / Blizzard rep for Diablo franchise) says nothing will be decided until the New Year. And even then, it might take a while for an official release. It took a long while just to hit beta, and now they are awaiting feedback from fans to decide what to do next (ie release patch as is or make new changes)

Yes I know about the realm, but I don't wanna make a fresh start on a realm that's cheat enabled and temporary. It would be nice to make a fresh start with a chars that takes advantage of the new changes. I often start with Armymancer to gather up some wealth and it would be nice not worrying about IM in CS.

In one word, it could take months before the 1.13 is released?

Another thing, will there be a ladder reset when the final 1.13 patch is released ?

It can come in January, and it can take months, yes. This is Blizzard we are dealing with, who just refuse to commit to deadlines. And as far as I know it will be accompanied by a reset, yes.

Blizzard will give around 2 weeks notice before the patch is released live due to the ladder reset that will take place at the same time. As a result, there's still at least 2 weeks and 1 day+ left.

With the timeframe they've already had for the patch, it's unlikely Blizzard will set a date until they've reached the above 2 weeks prior part, so I wouldn't expect anything until that stage.

I have yet to hear of any ground breaking bugs, in fact I have heard next to nothing besides people being upset about the content or lack thereof. My suspicion is that we will see a notice in January that the patch will come in about two weeks. Then again we got an announcement last April that something could come "soon" in a couple of weeks. So, expect the patch/ladder reset about 2-3 days before the end of the world in 2012. Enjoy

Hm.. can't decide whether or not to start playing now. I'm really eager too, but I don't want a ladder reset to screw up my fresh start in one month. What you guys think?

I would recommend to play, as release can take a while. Respeccing is kinda cool, no IM from Oblivion Knights is AWESOME and endless gold = endless gambling is sexy too.

Alright, I guess that answers my questions. One more thing though, does Beta "Classic" mean that it's A1-A4 only? Not A5?

I re-started playing on 1.12. 1.13 BETA is too tempting to cheat but I'm only making one char.

I think I'm gonna hold off and wait for the final release. Enabled cheats makes it useless to play. I just don't see the point to reach instant lvl 99, get unlimited gold and then gamble til you get decent stuff. Trading and finding stuff the natural way is what's D2 is all about :)
