Whats with Realm-Downing Me?

Well, the (explitives) at bnet realm-downed me again. Every time I make a game and start xfering I get the realm down. And yes, I know about not switching chars too fast. I give it at least 10 seconds between character switches.

But eventually bnet will catch on that I'm not playing the way they want me to (GASP! I have mule characters) and will realm-down me. And it seems like these realm-down episodes are lasting longer and longer. The last time they sat on me it took me almost an hour to get back on. This time it has been 45 minutes and still counting.

Oh well, just venting.

we should make a thread where people just vent all their anger about blizzard and when it reaches 10,000 posts we'll send it to them.

My rant:

Gahhhh! I hate everything!!!! GAhhhhh!!!!!!

::End Rant:: :sleep:

1. 10 seconds might not be enough. Better wait 20.

2. The realm-down is IP-based, so if you disconnect from your ISP and connect again, you will get a new IP address, so you are able to log in immediately. That won't work if you have a static IP address, however.

and if i release/renew my ip, ill just get the same one again :(

trist runs are very short since most of the games are full.

ppl even get realm downs from baal runs...

Realm down has little to nothing to do with how fast you log in different characters. It is how fast you enter and exit games with one character (the assumed bot), this does indeed occur if your Baal runs are too fast. The anti-bot feature does not result in realm down but the inability to enter games created by yourself or others, you still have chat access though. Being unorganised I regularly go through 20+ characters in search of an item and have never been punished for assumed botting. Blame the realm downs on the bots and dupers not on Blizzard.

And don't try and tell me that Blizzard has different anti-bot measures on different realms. Every single day on Asia realm we are confronted with refugees from East/West complaining about realm down, complete with plaintive pleas of "Why is West down?" and "Help me, my realm is down. SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!"

Oy!!! Next thing your going to tell me is that if I spam a message too fast in a chat channel I won't get booted :)

you shouldn't release/renew, but manually reset your modem, that alsways solves the problem with me (before I had that shiny vpn connection to college, now I just have to start the vpn, go to bnet true college again and resume playing :))
