What Was Your Best Drop Today?

Re: What Was Your Best Drop Today?

For you, yes, it may be junk. For people who just started, these items are valuable. I have a friend who can barely even afford a full tals set, so for him, a couple of HRs is a decent gift.

Sure they are valuable to you, just as a $1 bill is valuable to someone who is poor. That doesn't mean you hit the "jackpot". The concept of a jackpot is that you found some immense fortune that is beyond the average standard of living. The items you are finding provide no such value like that. Comparatively, it's small fry stuff that has no relevance in the grand scheme of things.

You may be rich in Diablo 2, but you are probably very poor in real-life, sitting on a old Pentium II computer, playing Diablo 2 on a 15" CRT monitor, using Windows 98.

The offtopic is strong on this page.

Anyhow, I found this interesting Ormus Robe:

Not sure if I'd use it or not myself, but it's definitely interesting.

I have agree with this to a point, while picking up a shaco doesn't make me all giddy anymore; it still has lots of value because almost any character can benefit by using one. While my trapsin would be better off with a griffon's eye, shako is the next best thing. That being said, high runes don't have much purchasing power on their own. It takes a certain person with a specific desire for your hr to get anything out of it. Highrunes by themselves are somewhat worthless.

For instance: if I have a vex rune, the best I can do is exchange it for a hoto. I can't use the rune to trade for even the lowest enigma or the most worthless fortitude.

Do you not understand? This has nothing to do with perceived value. It's not about me being rich or poor, or about you being rich or poor. Your terms are all objectively wrong.

To hit the jackpot in this game, you need to find an item that would immediately raise your standard of living - something to the tune of being able to buy an entire account of somebody's really decent, quality items for just the 1 amazing item you found. When you find an item that has that kind of purchasing power, then you can say that you basically hit the "jackpot". A highlords or shako doesn't qualify as such an item. The fact that you personally might still find a highlords or a shako to be "valuable" is totally irrelevant here. Do you not understand that?

The comment about the $1 was not an attack against you personally - it is just the truth. A HR on non-ladder is not a jackpot item - it is truly and objectively just small, common currency at this point. It is not much different than a small unit of a country's currency, like the USD or the CAD or the Yen.

So, when people win a $25 or even $100 lottery, nobody says they "hit the jackpot". Who says that? You got your terms totally mixed up. The term jackpot implies that you just increased your standard of living by an immense magnitude to what it used to be.

You already own a hoto and an enigma, so how is finding the stuff you are finding "hitting the jackpot"? It's not. It doesn't increase your standard of living in the game whatsoever. It's basically the same as it was before, is it not? It is.

Yet, this is totally lost on you. So because you don't understand economics, and have no desire to learn economics... so what do you do instead? You attack - just like you did last time you were in error.

Congratulations.

No it is not. A shako is a good item that can be used on most characters. A couple of HRs could buy me a low Griffon's, to use on my pure lightning sorceress.

Forget it. You clearly don't understand the difference between an item being useful and an item having a high purchasing power.

A shako is a good item that most characters will benefit from, and, a couple of HRs could buy some additional useful items, like Andys, Enigma, etc. Insensitive jerk.

Re: What Was Your Best Drop Today?

Perfection is greatly overvalued in D2. What do you think makes a 250/20 Raven cost 5x as much as a 249/20 (or however much more it costs, it must be at least 5x)? That 1 extra ar point is not worth a circusfreak in a beauty contest, in terms of usefulness. It is the *perfection* that gives it the extra value - the fact that you can't get a better Raven, and everybody wants one that's as good as they can get, provided they're wealthy enough.

The best item in the game in terms of value is probably some crazy eth Phase Blade rare... 400% ed 40 ias 2 sockets fool's mod, one more add I think is possible. Such a sword can get you literally anything else in the game, and an account full of NL HRs. You've got to put things into perspective here. If the facts hurt your ego, well, sucks to be you, they are and will stay the facts for years to come.

On topic, I haven't played much but I found a +3/16/2 dex sc lately. I'm told worth 2 Ist or so, not bad but not good either. I also found eth GPA and 13/13 sup AP, not sure how valuable that latter one is but should fetch a nice amount of Ists.

ARGH! Damnit! What can't this **** be +2 Paladin Skills?!?! My god... this would be so amazing if +2 Paladin! The fire res is ****ing beautiful when combined with Spirit Sacred Targe, and is perfect @res! ARGH!!!

If +2, would have likely been worth 20hrs on ladder. FML!

Re: What Was Your Best Drop Today?

I found a Pcombat skiller with Life in Travincial, this is valuable and worth something, at least a couple of HRs. If I continue like this, my wealth will be big soon enough.

Doing some countess runs and not sure if it was from the boss pack or the crate, but an OHM dropped in a room before countess :jig: and to make it even better countess that run dropped an ist rune . Also found another ist ~10 runs later ^_^.
