What do you imbue?

I've got about six characters into their 80's, all retired. None of them ever used their imbues from Charsi. So... my question is... what should I do with them? Forget that they're even there and keep on playing? Or should I try to make a nifty rare item? What would you do?

I almost never use the imbues either. Usually I go with circlets or something like that since the head spot is where I never have what I would really want to. And speaking of imbues: What is the ideal level to imbue cirlets at if you're looking for +skills?

Try finding some ethereal dimensional blades. If you get a good imbue you might then upgrade them to phase blades (yes, they WILL keep their etherealness).

Phase Blades can't spawn ethereal as they are indestructible. However, if you get a rare eth Dimensional Blade and upgrade it, it will still be ethereal and become indestructible, which gives you an eth Phase Blade all sneaky like.

Have never done that though. I tend to use my imbues on items that can get my char's class' staffmods (+ to a particular skill like on wands etc) if I am playing untwinked. Imbued items get a bonus to how many staffmods they get and to the +level.

With twinked chars I hardly ever use them but would probably do only diadems.

you can't upgrade crafted items.

And yes, you can imbue them.

You can't upgrade crafted items, but you can upgrade rares, which is the case in hand since it would be Imbued ;)

I guess I would imbue anything char specific (ie. claws, heads, orbs etc). But I only use the elite version(apart from orbs) and it takes a while to find white ones.

Otherwise, I imbue tiaras(which only dropped twice in my D2 career) and diadems.

Hey, this brings up a question I've had for a while now. In D2C, Wirt's Leg would often spawn as plain white (no sockets), but in most of my D2X experiences it's always socketed, at least any time I can remember. Now, does that mean the the Leg only spawns socketed? If not, and it can drop just plain white, could you Imbue it? And once it's rare would you be able to upgrade it to an exceptional or elite (assuming it's considered a "Normal" item)? I'm guessing it spawns socketed just so you can't do that, but I was just wondering.

Anyway, I don't really use my imbues, but on my Pit runs I save white/ethereal items I come across if they're a good item type (Tiara, Sacred Armour, Colossus Blade, Mythical Sword, etc.) just in case I decide to use them someday. :)

Yeah, I do still find non-socketed Wirt's Legs in 1.10 :D

I know it could be Imbued in the past (ie. 1.09), but I don't know if it still can in 1.10. I know you can't make runewords in Wirt's Leg anymore...

I have never imbued anything either. At least in 1.10. But then again, I only have three 1.10 characters, each with three imbues, so that is 9 tries I have right now. This thread is interesting to read, so I may give it a try soon.

I've finished imbuing for tiaras / diadems / circlets (got all the ones I needed) and now I'm moving on to eth crystal swords / eth dimensional blades / matriarchal bows.

Here's the results of around 50 imbues (some of em I found tho).

i dont think ive ever imbued anything. i probably will now though. although atm ive only got a few characters.

Like the others say, best imbues are white class-specifics or coronets/circlets/diadems--hoping for +skills in all cases, of course. The eth dimensional blade sounds like a cool idea, but as well as the blade itself you need the runes to upgrade it to Elite...assuming you get a decent imbue in the first place!

I only imbue class specific items that cant be gambled (so no claws) or etheral elite merc weapons. Personally I think imbue of circlet types is a waste since you can simply gamble them.

I imbue only with my untwinked HC chars and then I like to imbue class-specific itamz (like orbs) and circlets.

For me, it depends on the character. I face a dilemma when it comes to imbuing. The longer you wait, the greater the potenial is for a good item that might even be useful in the end-game. But the longer you wait, the less there is left of the game...(I don´t mule, so the imbuer and the user is always the same character).

I have imbued:
* Circlet type gear (I know they can be gambled, but an imbued Tiara can get +2 class skills at level 73, much earlier than you can gamble that on a Coronet)

* Early exceptional/elite weapons, for either character or merc. Unless you are alreaady using a good unique/runeword, these are good options. For my first javazon, I imbued a Crude War Javelin I found in Normal Durance 3. Got IAS, increased stack size and decent fire damage. Those javelins lasted more than halfway through NM before I found something better.

If you want to imbue one of the "lower" elite weapons (i.e. those with a QLVL<78) you should do it with a character that is at least level 74, to open up the possibilty for Cruel damage on them.

* For casters: class specific items that can´t be gambled: druid pelts, orbs, necro heads

* For kicker assassins: the heaviest elite boot type she has the strength for.
