What are "The Rules" for cows in 1.10?

I knew the cow rules pretty well in 1.09 and would like to know them for 1.10 - i.e. how early can you qualify to make, what are the ways you lose the ability to make, etc. I just woke up, so if I'm not making sense, I apologize.

There are others that probably can answer this better but here it goes.

If you havent killed the king yet and have passed baal in that difficulty you can make cows. You can enter cows if you have passed act 4(i think). If you havent killed the king and do so, all members in cow area will now not be able to make even if they are not partied. Hmm think i got the basics here. Hope this helps.

Yeah, like krucker13 said, it's the same as it was in 1.09.

Basically, the only person who can kill the king without ruining it for everybody else is someone who cannot make the cow portal; i.e., has already killed the king (or had their king killed by someone who had not yet got the "quest") in an earlier game for that difficulty level. Being partied or not doesn't matter.

If you see someone go after the king and want to be safe (because you don't know if he's killed the king before or not), TP to town until the king is dead.

Aha! I have found much things out, being an avid hell cower.
1) You can go in Cow Portal at ANY level, lvl1 noobs etc.
2) You have to kill baal to be able to make in the difficulty(or diablo for classic), just sit in town while ppl kill baal when you are lvl 1 and u still get the quest.
3) Despite popular belief, if you can't make cows, killing king does NOT affect you until you are able to make cows, basically you can kill king many times, then level enuf to be able to do Imakecow games, you can still make cows.
4) If anyone kills cow king, and you made or can make, and you are,
A)Partied at the time
B) On the same screen, or even within 2//3 screens of the player
You will lose the ability to make cow king.
I haven't tested the theory of partying, and you are in some other act.
Thats about it.. and with some mh'ing frineds I have found out, cows are lvl 28!
That means they give better exp at lvls 28 or so, even if baal runs are WAY better. Hell Cows are lvl81, but baal is better till lvl 89 or so.. then you best relax for a bit, cause it takes 20+ runs after lvl 91 to get a lvl up...
NM cows, I haven't checked, because after Normal Baal runs, you are ready for NM baal runs, so I never have worried about it, they are in the 50-60 lvl thoug.

Let's define two kinds of characters: cow openers and normal players. Cow openers would be players that could open the red portal. Normal players would be people that could not open the red portal anymore or who hadn't finished that difficulty level, that is, haven't killed Diablo for D2 or Baal for LoD. So that's the way it works: if a cow opener kills the Cow King all other cow openers in the Moo Moo Farm will not be ble to open the red portal anymore. Normal players and cow openers that are not in the Moo Moo Farm will remain the same.

This means a malicious player can kill the Cow King and prevent other people from opening the portal to the Secret Cow Level even if they are not partied. It is still how it works.

In case of a cow opener killing the Cow King, a number of stamina potions will drop, meaning milk bottles.

Note that killing the Cow King means hitting and killing the monster, that is, the final blow. If a cow opener helps bringing the Cow King's life down but a normal player kills him nothing will happen. Leaving the party will only mean you will not share experience with other party members (how egoist!).

Now any player can enter the red portal. As soon as you are in the Moo Moo Farm you can open town portals so you can use them too. Only cow openers or former cow openers can use all town portals made by partied characters. People who haven't finished that difficulty level can only use the red portal or their own town portals.

I didn't catch the part about hell baal runs vs hell cows. Over lvl91 it's better to do cow runs to level up?

Anyone knows what are the odds to get good drops for hell cows? So far, the best things I got are: Fal rune, low rares like lidless and some socketables. Would you recommand them for mf runs? I've had 'moderate' success with pit runs using both a meteorb and a bowazon.

Basically, my question is: Is it worth to run hell cows for experience or drops?

Thanks

20+ runs after 91 to get a level up?

Baal runs u mean?
or Cow runs?

My Level 90 Sorc has completed about 50 baal runs with mostly 8 players and she still hasnt got level 91 ;) I think the figure would be about 60 runs approx ( a bit lower if the games are not full)

Hell Cows dont give her any experience at all, so I dont go there

I actually find the best way to level is just do Level 85 areas and u seem to go up fast enough + find nice gear

This is just a side note about the stamina pots that drop...

why are they called "milk bottles".

Only Female cows can produce milk....and the cow king is not female since he is a "king"

So just what is that white substance in the bottles then???

Thank you sir for pointing that out.
