US East SCL Untwinked Unofficial Updates

Welcome to the USESCL-UUU thread

In an attempt not to hijack OT threads anymore We are moving here. Sorry for the rocky start, I tried to handle too much at one time and some confusion ensued.

So this is the running story of an untwinked experiment. Feel free to ask about anything, I just watch a computer all day long at work so I will frequently update/answer questions in my downtime. Feel free to post any random untwinked info in here too, I'm curious how other people do things. If you run any untwinked characters in other groups feel free to drop us a line and a link to your stories, I enjoy a good read myself.

Goals:
Each person can set their own goals about what they want to do untwinked obviously.
My goals are to finish the game, kill the ubers(not necessarily with my first untwinked character... you'll understand in the next post), and reach level 90(with my first untwinked).
After this I will consider twinking out the character and seeing the difference in gameplay or using her for keyruns.

edit: for the people who plan on posting updates, in the upper right corner of this window there is a thread tools menu, click the down arrow and then subscribe to thread, makes it a lot easier to find from anywhere! Sorry to post semi-obvious info but I just figured it out and I figured some other people might like it. Cheers!
 
A little about my first untwinked character:

She's a 53 Lite sorc, does a couple thousand maxdam on her chain lightning so far and just started act 2 NM.

Nice eq pieces include razorsomething unique Jo staff, merc has an insight scythe, and I just made a stealth for the fcr on armor. She's rocking some decent magic find at about 130 with a milabregas on switch (when i remember it) I'm particularly proud of the fact that she's my first sorc ever and she's only died a couple times to lag and once to stupidity.

I rarely run alone in NM and probably never will in Hell because of her one-element-untwinked status... But we'll see.

I'll send other people here to outline their characters so that readers will know what we have already made and how it works!

I have a friend starting soon making a fanatic. pretty much straight zeal/fanat with a point in smite for those fun crushing blow moments.


Oh, and by the way, I am LOVING untwinked play. In whats become the normal play style you rarely find something useful and when you do it's usually just something you can trade for something you can trade for something you can use. This way I'm feeling like I'm playing for the first time again and I am enjoying every second. Untwinked characters of the world Unite!

I'm trudging along the slow path with a freeze zealot. Level 23 at the moment and very poorly equiped. For some reason I can not remember if I have died yet? I'll go with I have not. In my world I play the catch up game always 2 acts behind and many levels. Hope to fix that but hey.....whatever.

I am relying heavily on strikematch to find crap for me and hope to catch him in levels so I can park my sorry freeze butt in front of his lighting bolts.....Do we have a fire man (or girlie)?

hey i liked hijackin the ot, it was trading forum so it was ot. neway bout the only time i ever posted in it. well here is a first too.

got my orb sorc, runnin to level 34 or so, i wouldhave kept up around strike, except god found it funny to strike my house with lightning sunday afternoon. comps back up now, and i will probably look to catch spiffy up, to nm, then catch up with strike. i just got cain in nm. *tfordnc3 is my untwinked account, whisper me netime, and i will try to help others catch up also. mine is gonna be a cold sorc with no other killin spells, not even gonna attempt hell alone with this char. but this is a group char. at work, gtg, talk to yall later

It's more like sharing. Think of this game play as a friends list that play and share together. A sharing clan. Not trading for profit. Giving and giving and giving and some taking. Plus you get to play with people who are not just about taking drops and scamming and looking out for themselves. This is all about wholesale team play concept.

For example I might be the first to pick up a grand charm, so I identify it. I announce the stats....then if it is a poison charm and we have a necro in the party I give it to him. :grin: Simple as that. Trading only amongst ourselves.

well i wouldn't call it trading, we all just kinda give each other stuff... Seriously, if u need a couple pgems to make a starter bow just ask. Problem is if I say found an HoZ with my sorc I'd feel grand about the find but I would not gain anything from it. Personal gain is kinda second to having fun here.

But if you were soloing with a character and found something crazy like a perf griffons and couldnt bring yourself not to profit from it so you muled it to your normal account, we'd never know and I wouldn't care. I'd prefer you to be happy.

Yeah but if we were gonna get serious it was time to find a home and this is nice and centralized... also check out the thread subscription advice, makes it easy to find. put your trade threads in there too and bam, everything in one place... it rocks ;)

Oh and I didn't post my account before for a couple reasons, wanted to see how the reactions went, didn't wanna be the only contact point, but since we got a couple others up, I'm *sinjen online (woulda been a short search if u wanted to find it) and would be happy to catch anyone up. I'm also mulling over ideas for an account name list... prolly have to do that in player matchup i'll figger it out soonish.

edit: lol, can you tell we're all pretty into this. everyone answering one question... anyhow i think that was a unanimous response from the three that are on... now we just need emar, zalc and xenon to pop in and post an answer!

our group is really more about sharing than trading, but tradin im sure will be done on some items. but my intentions are even on high end items, that i find, they will go to the char that can best use them, or most needs them.

for example, im a cold sorc, if i found a nightwingsveil, i would keep it, but if i found a griffs, i would pass it on to strikeamatch, cause hes a light sorc. hoz would go to some pally in the group, etc, etc. gems and runes are on mules for ne to use.

jsut saw strikes post, and i guess i should edit this jsut a bit, this is what i will be doin with items i find, but it is by no means required or even expected by others.

A note from Xenon... Amen on the mana, i have a bp for you if it's a huge problem, 72mana 10str... it helped me for a long time until i finally found some other nice gear. I'll keep an eye out for a 4os stick for you also, any preferences? I've passed up some lesser ones recently but if you're just looking for anything it'll be easy to find. You can always PM me to avoid poison daggers in the back.

actually you summed it up very nicely and if i found that nightwings it'd be going to you. I just don't want to put someone else in the moral quandry that I faced earlier of your personal desires verses the rules set on you by an arbitrary community. I would expect that any long term member would give away a perfect griffs if they found it and couldn't use it, but if they chose not to I would not shun them or anything. And if you gave me that griffs and i found a SOJ or something we both can use, you bet I'd be paying you back!

so expected, yes, required no. I'm no dictator, you do what you want.
 
hmm just thought of somethin myself here also, to help keep the good untwinked items in the group, i would be willing to pay the finder with items/runes outside the group just so the item stays in the group. and i would pay a fair value, as long as i can afford. i wouyld expect once we end the untwinked, that i receive the items i pay for.
 
I guess I was thinking that would not be necessary if we game with a regular untwinked group. If we have people joining on and off regularly and taking the better items that kinda defeats the purpose of team untwinked play. Once we are level 60 and others join at a similar level and are not regulars then how do we know they are untwinked non traders? I think we will have a good feel for who the regulars are by then and who the close knit group is so as to keep the "best" or better items within the group.

Anyway we can certainly do whatever we want with no set rules and just do what works for each person so as to have fun. I personally will attempt to share and I commit to full on team play. I find a good sorc item I will share it since I can't use it. Same with necro wands and caster gloves and Assassin items and the like. Just so you all know I am committed to that type of play within the group.

I have been coming here less and less, I have to work sometime... :rolleyes: Anywho, untwinked is great, it has definitely renewed my interest in the game. The most fun is really playing with a solid group. I built a Javazon to run with the others, she is about level 50 give or take. I am also leveling a poison necro, for pits and lower resists.

Re. Trading/keeping. I'm at a point in the game where a HoZ will do me no good, so I would donate it to a member of our group. Same goes for COA, Stormlash, NW and any other 'godlies.' I personally don't care what others do, but the general feel of the group seems to be 'share.' And really the point behind co-op playing, is co-op...:thumbsup:

Hey! glad u caught this thread. I was just getting onto my email at home to mail u to check it out.

There are kinda a stready flow of joiners right now, we get a couple each weekend and maybe one or two during the weekdays and sometimes they stick around, sometimes they don't

It won't take but a day or two to catch up at this point still because we have more capability to help out the little guys than we did before.

There is one person who is about to start, but hasn't given an exact day yet so if I hear from him we can try to get you two going at the same time. I was planning on making another char so that if I wanna run one area I use a sorc, another area I use... well I dunno yet, but something! :P

and Heya Emar, lol, 5/7 forumers posted today... wow. anyhow, yeah we all are pretty much in the sharing mode, after all, it's just bits and bytes.

Dang...I don't hop on for a few hours and the "Untwinked" thread takes 20 minute to read....sheesh.
I'm playing an Avenger Paladin named Kossil. Currently level 42. Definitely the weakling of the group, since it takes me about 12 hits to kill a carver in NM:embarassed: , but the Conviction aura helps out the teammates a great deal (or so I hope:thumbsup: )
I am not all that keen on the idea of trading in the untwinked format. It's the description of the game itself that implies not trading. Giving, well that's a different story. I have found a few items that others can get more use out of than I can, so off they go to the best user. I have also been on the receiving end of lots of "gifts". Gems and runes all go to the party fund, so that they'll be there when they're needed.

Good run tonight guys. Sorry for the connection problems (happens all the time). If anyone finds any 4 socket crystal swords, I am hoping to make 2 Spirit's by the time I get to level 30.

I haven't played in quite a spell, but this sounds like fun. I'd be willing to play almost any type of character. You guys lookin' for another addition?
 
Need a name - we had a bunch of new characters start last night? Where you one of them? If not you won't be too far behind. We can help you get caught up.

Talga - I'm not sure what that nonsense is you typed but your avenger rocks. I love that conviction. My holy freeze is way better running side by side with you. I am always looking for you on the map to make sure I can take advantage of your aura. Your build does require some big synergies so you may have to be patient. Have you started to place pts in the elemental resistances for the added dam? When you do that the damage will really add up. I added you to F list.

One from beyond - yeah last night was a hoot!. Thanks for the post and heads up on account. I will add you tonight.

Emar - Where you running toxic? and Divination? I think I got you added to F list, but could you verify your non twinked account for me thanks.

Starrider - We have room and can get you caught up if you like. At this point we do not have a hammer tossing dude or a pure fire sorc or even meteor/orb. We have a pure Orb Sorc and Lighting sorcoress.....Although I don't remember what character Divination was (think maybe possibly she was focused on enchant but not totally sure)....I do know we have a bunch of necros and at least 1 lighting assassin chicky babe, Shapeshifter Druid (Wamba), a barb (bacchus), avenger pally, my freeze zealot, and I thought we had a pure Zealot but have not see in a bit. Play what you want and we will fit you in. I am missing a bunch but hope this helps.

Am I missing anything? When I get a complete F list I will post it so everyone can add who they wish much easier. Unless people don't want me to post the accounts just say so.

I was just giving myself some grief with the "weakling" comment. I knew from reading the guide that an Avenger would be a level 60+ build. The idea I had was to be the "Conviction Meat Shield" build until I could synergize Vengeance (with enough mana to use as my main attack all the time) to do serious damage. And, oh how I love being around the players with Insight on mercs!:cloud9:
It is truly impressive to see the Sorcs and the one Zon that’s playing clear whole screens with their attacks when I'm around.
A question I have since I’ve never played an Avenger before…does Conviction help do more damage with physical attacks, or (from last night) bone attacks from Necros?
~Spiffy – it may be a little while off, but you should really check out Voice of Reason (if you hadn’t already) Lem-Ko-El-Eld for your Freezer.
I’m figuring that we’ll have the runes so I could make a Lionheart armor by the time we’re finished with NM. That’ll have to tide me over until I get my hands of that Baranar’s Star I’ve been eyeing up since I started this character.:evil:

@ spiffy: ye I was one of the chars that started up lastnight, I was the MA sin.
It was a nice run last night, really enjoyed the big group.

This is off topic but Talga I still have 3 hate keys and 1 mfsc on my other acct with your name on it. Next time I see you on I'll xfer them to your char if you want.
