Tyrael's Mighty Breakdown - Item Find Thread September 2015

did anyone try out guardian angel (Gul) and kiras guardian (Gul) in travincal for merc?

that would cut the dmg of those hydras down to 1/20 compared to 1/4 with normal eq

with normal eq he barely survives with good positionment, but with this eq he should feel happy in those firebolts (esp with Bo)

oh, i mean the rune that gives +5 max fireresis, gul isnt it, maybe vex? i dont have one to look^^

edit: i took a look at GA, and one vex would suffice coupled with GA

so Um'ed or Ral'ed Kiras is better^^

You mean Vex, right? Gul adds to max poison res ;)

GA already increases maxres to 90%, so a single Vex would be enough to bring it to 95%. I would socket Kira's with Shael then because his fhr rate is so lousy. Weapon: Tomb Reaver with some mix of shael, amn and IAS/%ed/whatever jewels or Reaper's with shael or IAS/somethig jewel or BotD.

Kira's will add enough to resists, so it doesn't need an Um rune.

Which kind of character will he accompany? I made the experience that a conc barb with Grief and otherwise inexpensive gear (partly MF stuff, like Skullder's, Goldwrap) can do /p3 Trav all alone. He could even do /p7, but drops don't increase by enough to justify the increased chance of dying (I'm playing a bit recklessly)... mine is still below L90.

tomb reaver is kinda fail because revive ;)

reapers toll is the way to go, or insight if zerking

i use a ww barb which is not even made yet

(i have a barb, but i lack good swords, even tho i have Bluewraith/2* Sazabis and even GF, but no grief or 07 oath)

tried Kiras+GA (without vex) on my immortal king barb and run a few times those guys

its decent and i think a ias (and later ias/fireres) kiras will serve better since now when he dies its because of amp, so he needs more effective leech (and since you cant put amn in helm for leech.. ias has to do it :p )

edit: ah ok, i think tombreaver is not so bad on merc because he cant revive (minions cant have further pets)

but i dont know^^, reapers with decrep is very good

I'm not sure if Tomb Reaver cannot produce revives when worn by a merc. Is that confirmed in practice or just deducted from the fact that mercs cannot have minions? I'm a bit in doubt whether they qualify as such. They remind me more of the barbarians in the Bloody Foothills. Whatever, Tomb Reaver has a 10% to revive corpses and horking has a chance of just 30-50%, depending on how many skill points are invested and how many bonuses you have.

Let's assume 45% horking (my conc barb with one skill point in it has that much when wearing two echoing javelins). That means, 100 items become 100 + 100*45% = 145 items. With a 10% of the corpses being revived, it will be 100 + 90*45% = 140.5 items. That's (145-140.5)/140 = 3.2% less. That amount will be compensated by being just 3.2% more effective if the merc is doing all the kills (which I doubt :)) and just 1.1% if he's killing one third of the monsters.

BTW, Reaper's deals cold damage which might shatter corpses. That probably has a greater effect than 10% to revive corpses if it happens at all on mercs.

the 1.07 blessing and curse:

Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 17
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 99

I always have the impression that my merc does fine in Travincal even with only 75% fire res. Mind you, he dies too often to my taste, probably something like once every 30 - 40 runs, but that seems mostly due to Amp in my opinion.

@MizzouFTW That's a lovely LK map !!! My second campfire is closer to the first one (second hut of campfire 1 is next to first hut of campfire 2), but I have to teleport further back from the second hut of the second campfire. All in all probably quite a good map as well, but still I can't get fast running times on it for some reason. Some 30s on average, more towards 40 when including stashing, cubing up and cubing grand charms.

Let's do something about that then ;).

Since ideally I need Lo, Ohm, 3x Ber and 2x Jah for my new Sept (Dream x2, Chaos, Fortitude, Infinity, Beast), I figured I'd hit up LK again, since that is the best place to farm those, except for the Jah runes. And those are best farmed at Travincal, but to optimize those runs, I need 2 out of the 3 Bers for Infinity first anyway. So yeah, I ran LK for a bit, and got my first HR after some 300 runs, as well as some nice other stuff to boot:

.
Only my second Lo rune ever. Ironically, both the Lo and the Ist don't come from the superchest, but from random poppables :). I also got a plain Druid Elemental skiller and a plain Necro Curses skiller.

@T72on1 that's great stuff! I see you have very similar plans to mine, except instead of 2x Dream, I'm after Enigma/CoH. But I see I need to start open random poppables more, I've opened few but nothing interesting. Past few days at LK, found 2 skillers (Necro Curses and Paladin Offensive) and a Lem. I feel like I'm due finding something good, but you never know with this game...

Yeah, Enigma is still on my list as well, so that's another Ber and Jah. And yes, poppables are worth it, if you don't loose too much time doing it.

I think poppables are always worth it. I'm on my work computer but I'll update with s/s's later.

The body poppable next to the LK WP gave me a 5% Bk ring last night. First BK I have found since I started back up again. I managed to net an Ohm and an Um last night as well. I've stopped picking up flawless gems/ charms / jewels unless I notice them right away. If I teleport away I don't go back.

I managed to net 3 or 4 more 4os monarchs. One was 13/12. I also got a unique war boot drop from my first armor rack.

Do you guys prefer GoMule readouts or do S/S's suffice for legitimacy?

I like screenshots but it's not really because legitimacy, it's more because they are super fun to look at. Seeing that Lo on the poppable gives me a warm feeling inside.

Also on runes readouts don't really say much, you could easily just post up an older rune or whatever since they don't have a unique identifier so a screenshot might be better since then at least you can verify where they found it in its original position and all that.

For items I think either is fine but a readout is probably technically better since it has the code with it. I still like screenshots better because fun.

And really it's your history on the forum. If you've been around a long time and post up stuff regularly I don't really question stuff too much. Personally sometimes I feel very spammy posting stuff up day after day after day if it's more of the same. So I dunno, I try to hold back unless it's fairly rare or it's an item that requires a history for trading - like high runes.

Works for me. There once was a time where this forum had an abundance of witch hunts. Wasn't sure. I think 1.13 increased rune drops alleviated some of that.

On topic: Forgot to mention that I also found a 200% Jalals from Meph. It sure is perty.

Just about everyone who plays D2 nowadays are more mature than the average d2 player a decade ago. Because we're old farts now. Well, speaking for myself at least. I can see why it's less of a problem.

On topic: Can't change my cow king map as long as I get drops like this:

If the question is legitimacy then I would think it's pretty clear that screenshots, except those showing the item unidentified on the ground where it dropped and accompanied by a readout, are absolutely worthless to that end.

But even outside of legitimacy, readouts are in my opinion just far better in terms of showing finds because they're easier to parse, can be searched up later using the forum, show more relevant information, are quicker and easier to post and don't run the risk of being lost to the ages that images, particularly those hosted on external sites, run. I know of no advantages at all that screenshots have over readouts in terms of presenting items.

Screenshots of found high-end items are still a good practice for legitimacy purposes, but a screenshot of an identified item in the inventory or stash is meaningless and pointless except in patches where ATMA doesn't work.

Thanks, I altered my route through the two campsite, so I now hit 3 logs, 2 corpses, a skeleton and an occasional random stash, in addition to those 6 superchests. I probably added another 3-5secs per each run, but at the moment, I'm not too fussed, as long as I can get something out of this. And fortunately, I did:

Not Lo rune that I am after, but Ohm is a very nice addition! My runes are now equivalent to 0.019 Zods! Although, I might use the Ohm, probably going to use it to make CtA, but I am missing Mal, so I need to hold onto it for now.

Interesting find by my Trav barb:

2 MA, 20 IAS plus almost perfect fire res, perfect MF and a small str bonus. That's four pretty good affixes and a useful one. That sounds rather good, but
I don't know much about MA assassins. It seems that Trang's gloves are popular, so is that a useful pair of gloves?
