Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

I'm joining in, rolled an Assassin, who's going to be with an Act 3 cold merc (wow lucky, though I wanted to see a different element for once).

Den of Evil done (I'm level 6 now) and I'm starting to look like a rather wierd martial artist, lots of points in energy, almost none in strength and a bit in dex and vit. Skills so far are 2 tiger strike, 1 fists of fire, 2 claw mastery (all good so far) and 1 psychic hammer (gah).

You rolled the same as me :) It started off quite easy but now im at the canyon of the magi and everywhere i go i have to use cloak of shadows constantly so enemies are forever blind, i hope you roll this for the start of act 2 because i don't think i could cope otherwise. I hav'nt rolled lightning sentry yet either so im just using burst of speed with tiger strike and dragon kick :( makes for slow 1 at a time killing progress lol. Hopefully things will improve soon, untill then i got full clears of the tombs to look forward to!

The Story

Scarface is merrily bouldering his way through the hell on earth that is the desert. The only boulder problems are those nasty beasties that refuse to move away from the boulders. That is, sand worms.
It only took Scarface half an hour of maggot slaying in the lost oasis to figure out that the maggot lair lvl 3 might be a tad bothersome, and he was right of course. So, the solution picked was an elegant one. I went wolf on their buggy behinds, and that worked much the same as a claw on an apple. I sliced them to threads with Feral Rage. Good thing too, cos I aint gonna be bouldering around with the ubermaggot at the end of act II, no sirree.

Provided I live to there of course.

The city was really easy to clean out. But while merrily busting Marauders, poison kitties and nasty leapers to shreds, I realized I forgot a very essential step if I was EVER going to go back in the good graces of the girls in Lut Gholein.

I needed to work on my bling.

So once I killed everything alive (and dead, there was this unique plague zombie walking around after all), I plundered my extended ATMA stash for old Scarface and came up with a nice collection of jewelry. Scarface figured: "Wanna bet I'm gonna get some juicy MF stuff? Girls love the magic find. Girls dig the studs that can bring down the pretty blue and yellow and green and gold items."

So, after wearing that Horadric Cube down to close to nothingness, There was not one item of the sweet blingness with the juicy mf. Not one.
Finally, scarface decided to go with an amulet of wealth, figuring that if the girls didn't get the goods, they might dig the gold.

But the true terrors were yet to come...
Snakes.
Now, Scarface always had a liking for the animals, but snakes weren't part of that group. For one, they didn't have any legs. And they slithered. They looked icky. But most importantly, you really, really can't wrestle with one. Even mockwrestling is out.

Well, these vipers reportedly had arms, but that didn't really improve matters, because they held pointy weapons in them. So, it was back to the boulders. Surprising how little effect pointyy weapons really have against huge, smouldering boulders.

There were several sarcofagi spitting out mummies, adn there were embalmed as well, along with two different breeds of snakes. Nothing managed to stood up to Scarface's maniacal laugh, the shiny steel flail in his hand and the boulders rolling in front of him, hiding him completely from view.

Until he found out there was another layer to this temple. And that place was jampacked with 3 greater mummies, and PLENTY of Slamanaders. It was touch and go two times, and one time, it was literally the spirit valiaintly moving in front of scarface that saved him from an ignoble death, but finally, the last snake, a big gold/green like one with bolts emitting from all parts of his body, died. And he dropped a blue rondache and a blue wrist blade. Whopp tee doodle doo.

Although a blingy MF amulet fell from another snake dude here (+12 MF)
Oh well, time to quit and get a good nights sleep before wooing the girls in the palace.

Misc, stats and skills and all that and more

With the Viper temple gone, I don't expect much problems except for Fireeye (fireenchanted) and the summoner (the druid has no way to quickly reach him).
But the canyon may be problematic, with two potential creatures who don;t really give a rats *** about those boulders (the crushers and those red maggots)

oh well, thats in the future. The flail is pretty good in dealing with stuff that doesnt really want to die tothe boulders anyways-.

Several levls. Most are pretty ok statwise. Either evenly spread out with two in either strength or vit, or between strength and energy only. But the skills weren't that good. All in the summon tree, and mainly in the poison creeper (the thing is now lvl 5, and with a +2 pelt I found, I prebuff it at 7. It even lasts a bit in bossfights!) But I DID manage to land a very important second point in the oak sage.

Lvl 25 now. Not in the mood for a stats/skills listing, perhaps some other post :)

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Hello everyone on SPF, have been playing bnet on west/sc/ladder and just got sick of the endless mfing and uber runs (<< hence the name). Did some soul searching (well actually just sat here at my computer staring blankly at the screen while i scratched myself for 5 mins :scratchchin:) and decided there must be a more interesting and fun way to play this game and well here i am. I rolled two 4's so i guess i'm starting a barb with an act 5 merc companion. Should be fun  Called him stifler :whistling:

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

So far i've reached level 6 with stifler. Allocated all his stat points, plenty of dex but not much else. Thought i spend his skill points too and have 2 axe mastery, 1 polearm mastery, 1 throw mastery and 1 spear mastery and 1 to bash. Have cleared out the blood moor, den of evil and cold plains. Found a nice rare ammy already in blood moor +2 str, +1 mana and 5% lr :alright: . Time to go kill blood raven and clear the mausoleum and the crypt.

Blood raven went down without much of a fight, having Bash certainly helps. Cleared the crypt and mausoleum then decided to clear the Caves 1 & 2, came very close to dying against Coldcrow, does anyone else struggle against her at such a low level? then went and cleared the stony field as well. Level 9 now, used the next three lots of stats points and the skills 1 more to pole mastery, 1 more to spear mastery and a mace mastery. Would love to equip him with a polearm but don't have the strength to wear one yet.

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

i'm only new and probably should lurk around the forums a little more but this tournament seems like way to much fun to ignore any longer,

looks like i'll be making a sorceres with (hopefully) a barbarian companion, cant wait!

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

You know something? This is the first time I ever died to hell clan in normal difficulty. Yay for the new experience!
Seriously, it's probably not very GG of me to go with an underdeveloped Druid with no backup going through a portal into the middle of a group of 8 very angry /p8 Hell Clan. They were quick to proof scarface the folly of his ways.

Scarface, Arcane Sanctuary, Lvl 26, dead

PS. I decided to do one reroll, and let it hang from the character I rolled whether I would participate again. I didn't want to play another druid, or a paladin really. So it was a shame I DID, in fact, roll another druid. With several other tourneys to choose from, and perhaps one of my own to launch, I have enough alternatives really, so what's left is for me to wish y'all GG.

It was randomly fun :)

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Managed to get Stifler to level 21 and i just cleared the dry hills and the Halls of the Dead. Has been pretty smooth sailing, had a bit of trouble in the Pit. Managed to get myself surrounded and with low FHR nearly couldn't get out. Luckily bash has a knock back affect and i managed to extricate myself.

Next challenge was this guy in the Catacombs lvl 2. Hate those extra fast ones! But once i picked off his buddies, he wasn't too much trouble. Took down Andy without much fuss, she didn't drop anything of note, but i did get a topaz from her, which will come in handy for the mf once i find a nice armor to put it in.

Also received a bit of a scare in the Halls of the Dead when i ran into a nest of champion hollow one's. Was just a matter off running around avoiding their ranged attacks and picking em off one at a time. So at the moment the tale of the tape is this:

Stats:
Strength: 53
Dexterity: 53
Vitality: 47
energy: 32

Skills:
+1 howl, +1 shout, +2 find potion, +2 bash, +1 leap, +1 ironskin,
+2 sword mast, +2 axe mast, +2 mace mast, +4 pole mast, +1 throw mast,
+2 spear mast.

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Well, this looks entertaining, so I'm in. I've rolled a paladin with an act 1 fire merc. Interesting... I've never played a pally before, so I'll have to improvise.

Name: Maleagant, generated by http://www.slacknhash.net/paladin_name_generator.php

Hell, if you're going to go random, you might as well go all the way!

Anyway, level 6, just completed the Den of Evil on /p8, so far 11 points in vitality, 9 in dexterity, 4 in strength and a mere 1 in energy.

Skills are 2 points in might, 1 in defiance, resist cold, smite, and sacrifice. Strange old jumble.

Some luck though, found a ring with 5% mf, and already have a flawed topaz thanks to a chippie dropping and a gem shrine. Looking for something to shove it in.

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Gotten my Assassin through Tristram and sitting on level 15, although I have no clue how this is going to end up. My skills suggest I'm going to be a melee fighter while my stats say I'm going for traps.

Stats:
Strength: 36
Dexterity: 38
Vitality: 36
Energy: 47

Skills:
4 Tiger Strike, 2 Dragon Talon, 2 Fists of Fire
2 Claw Mastery, 2 Psychic Hammer
2 Fire Blast, 2 Blade Sentinel

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Raila scampered through the cold plains to meet up with blood raven who proved a hard task, luckily though after a couple of zombie kills a random skill allocation saw a point being dropped into static field. With her new shocking abilities Raila made quick work of miss raven who dropped a nice unique scimitar upon death.

Raila, sorceress, lvl 15, is now in the black marsh.

str: 21
dex: 42
Vitality:28
Energy: 59 (!!!)

skills:
Frost nova +2
Ice bolt +1
Frozen armour +3
Static +1
Nova +2
Charged bolt +1
Lightning +1
Telekinesis +1
Inferno +1
Blaze +1
Warmth +1

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Maleagant has just hit level 12, having cleared out the Burial Grounds. No impressive loot so far, though lots of topazs - MF is currently at 36%. Gambling unfortunately turned up no '-of chance's, but gave me a nice rare pair of gloves with 7% LR, 8% FR and half freeze duration. Also got a nice scepter with +2 to might and enhanced damage. Found a small charm with 1-2 cold damage and +3 life, so I'm slowing what I hit slightly too.

Near escapes: coldcrow on /p8 with a pack of cold enchanted archers brought me down to a sliver, and I very nearly clicked on a fire shrine on low health, which would have been game over.

Anyway, stats and skills:
Strength - 36
Dexterity - 36
Vitality - 41
Energy - 27

Prayer - 1
Defiance - 1
Resist Cold - 2
Resist Lightning - 1
Might - 3 (scepter brings me up to 5)
Sacrifice - 2
Smite - 1
Holy Bolt - 1

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

After an epic battle with Duriel stifler is now in Act III. Took me about 4-5 hours just to complete the second half of Act II, doing full clears of the arcane sanctuary and the tombs took forever, especially without a merc to help.

Had several scares while fighting Duriel, he got me down to a sliver of life several times and i just managed to scamper through a portal before he got that last shot in that would of killed me. Must have gone through 30+ juvs in the end, but he did drop the unique two-handed sword Shadowfang. Should come in handy during Act III, but my 30ed rare poleaxe still does more damage. Managed to find a few low runes, including a tal dropped in the Arcane Sanc. Looking to make a malice out of a 3 socket Maul i found, just need an ith to drop!

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Finally started today and swamp has just beaten blood raven. She keeps finding rare boots (3 so far) but not much of anything else. Coldcrow nearly did me in and I had to lure them apart to win but I did eventually. This is how swamp stands now...

Strength - 37
Dexterity - 35
Vitality - 21
Energy - 51

Ice bolt - 3
Frozen armour - 1
Frost nova - 1
Ice blast - 1
Shiver armour - 1
Telekinesis - 1
Fire bolt - 2
Warmth - 1
Inferno - 1

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Maleagant has freed Cain and cleared the Underground Passage, Dark Woods and Tristram, hitting lvl 15. No close calls, thankfully, though my moron nearly got killed by a large group of Misshapen.

Stats:
Strength - 38
Dexterity - 41
Vitality - 43
Energy - 33
Pretty balanced, though I don't need that much mana.

Skills
Prayer - 1
Defiance - 2
Resist Cold - 2
Resist Lightning - 1
Might - 3
Blessed Aim - 1
Sacrifice - 2
Smite - 1
Holy Bolt - 1
Zeal - 1

Maleagant, Black Marsh, lvl15

EDIT: rather than double post I'll make my latest update here. Maleagant went in search of a certain countess, and her tower yielded all sorts of goodies. Firstly one of the uniques dropped Death's Guard Sash for a valuable Can't Be Frozen, then the countess herself gave the generous gift of a Tal and an Eth, so Maleagant made himself a Stealth runeword. No NDEs.

Stats:
Strength - 42
Dexterity - 43
Vitality - 44
Energy - 36

New skills: another point in both Might and Sacrifice. With his mace Maleagant has 6 in might. Now I just need something with life leech so I can use that sexy sacrifice damage without killing myself...

Maleagant, Tamoe Highland, lvl 17

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Well, invested a good few hours today, with great results!

For some reason none of my screenshots were saved, so a little play-by-play. Firstly I worked my way through the Tamoe Highlands, found a nice 8 small charms, 2 of which were worth keeping. Nothing dropped of note in the barracks, but Charsi's imbue, which I used on a tardiche as my shield was crap, was a superb roll - (+2 strength, +9 mana, FR7%, LR36%, CR7%, PR7%, attacker takes damage of 1, 9% damage taken goes to mana, 10% chance to cast lvl 3 charged bolt when struck) - other than that, only thing of note in the prisons was Pit Spawn Foul Dog, who nearly took me to deeds... but gave me Biggin's Bonnet.
However, I replaced that shortly after with Infernal Cranium set piece (all res +10, 20% dmg to mana) which was handy.

Andy dropped fairly easily, gave me crap drops except for a stone emblem amulet - +4 strength, +4 energy, magic damage -1, FR15%, CR14%, 8%MF. Oh, and a topaz, though I seem to be gradually replacing my MF gear, except for rings, with rares/uniques/setpieces.

Now I just need a new pair of gloves, as my current ones are half freeze duration, slightly pointless as my belt is Can't Be Frozen...

Stats -
Strength - 46
Dexterity - 46
Vitality - 47
Energy - 41

Skills
Prayer - 1
Defiance - 2
Resist Cold - 2
Cleansing - 1
Resist Lightning - 1
Might - 4
Blessed Aim - 1
Sacrifice - 4
Smite - 1
Holy Bolt - 1
Zeal - 1
Charge - 1

My first tournament?

Hey, this looks like a really cool tournament!

I was thinking of starting this as my first single-player tourny ever, but I'm not sure if it's too late to start.

Anyways, I guess I'll roll my character just in case. Even if I am too late, it will still be fun to try:smug:

But still, should I even bother posting in this thread?

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

I started my character 2 days ago, so I don't see why not. You can catch up fairly fast.

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Well, that's was over pretty quick!! Was going along pretty well in Act III, had cleared all area's up to the causeway before travinical. Was clearing the first of the tomb area's (the disued fane maybe?) and ran into a pack of archer demon's with the unique one having a lightning aura.

Was wielding my rare maul, obviously with no shield and Bang! one hit death. Mind you i had about 3/4 health at the time but didn't think that was an issue. Guess i kinda got a bit complacent since i had about 270+ life and didn't think i could die that easily. Must of taken a hit from several minions and the aura at once, cause i didn't even have time to chug a rejuv.

Well live( or should that be die) and learn. It was fun so i'm gonna have another go. Rolled a 5,2,5 which means a Paladin with an Act II blessed aim merc. Am much more familiar with Paladin's than i am Barb's so hopefully i do a bit better. So without further ado here we go again.

P.s decided to use the random name generator that Fenrix used. His name: Sir_Lionell

Re: Tournament: The Randomly Challenged II

Alright then, say hello to Ragnar the barbarian! :P

Ragnar will be soon teaming up with an act 1 cold merc which will hopefully be a good source of damage once his dual scepters are weak.

Here is a rundown of Ragnar's stats:

Level 6
Strength: 41 (40 + 1) - My first and last levels gave me 3 strength points :D
Dexterity:25
Vitality:28
Energy:18 (17+1) - One of my levels gave me 3 energy :(

Skills:

3 Find Potion
1 Sword Mastery
1 Mace Mastery (helps my scepters :D)
1 Bash

As for my adventures, I have been doing well on players 8 and I have just gotten the Cold Plains WP. Earlier on, I passed by a chest and thought about how dumb those chest popping rules are (because chests never drop anything decent). Turns out when I opened the chest I found this sexy thing, as well as a sweet staff that sold for some nice money.

Ragnar is the first single-player character I have created that hasn't seen hero editor lol.
