Today I learned that it's lycanthropy and not lycantherapy, which is exactly what I've been saying since 2003.

Everytime I replay this game I see something new.

Fun fact: I didn't use hotkeys until Socialism released his orb-it-aller guide. I literally clicked. I have no idea why.

@MizzouFTW I know about using a lesser skill selection/keyboard combo system. I always used the F1, F2, etc keys for hotkeys forever and finally saw somebody who had their skills assigned to qwertasdf and sometimes another letter or two. When I discovered that skill system, coupled with spacebar in place of alt for viewing items and V weapon switch, X run/walk, Z turning on/off helper boxes in corner, K to the skill choice tree and L to quest log.... it completely changed the game for me and my ability to maneuver so much more quickly while playing, after I got used to it(doesn't take long really). I definitely played over 10 years before I learned that I could even do that and that it would make the game so much more seameless.

@hackedagainanda Wait??? On sides of rooms that don't have a door, I can just click the wall and not run around to a door far away? Does this work all over or where? I am about to go test this. This one is blowing my mind and I am wanting to know how to execute it.... assuming you're being super cereal?

Not exactly. There are rooms that have gold in them and possibly bars where it looks like only a teleporting character can enter but if you click on the middle wall panel it slides open.

@hackedagainanda Haha. I only found out about this too this year! Not exactly Wolfenstein 3D or Arkham Asylum level of secret, but still..

The very first time I played D2, I found some sweet magic items: a cap of the jackal, a ring of the jackal, boots of the jackal... I thought to myself, I wonder if these are the set items mentioned in the game manual? I waited a long time expecting my gear to turn green after I completed the Jackal set...

It wasnt today. But, another 10+ year discovery.. clicking on mana/HP orbs toggles numeric display..
Thank you for this! I had toggled the HP numeric display on by accident and was trying to find a toggle key for it in settings. :) It would appear you need to click to lower half of the orbs, otherwise you just walk places.

I also discovered the orb thing at least 10-15 years into the game. I noticed it would either be on or off, but had no idea why. Then I noticed I did a click and it turned it on and off lol. I don't know why anyone would want it off, it always upset me when it would be set on off and I wasn't able to see the numbers I wanted to see.

I played the game for quite a long time without knowing about the crafting as well. Then there was a period that I knew crafted items existed, very seldom would I see them, but I knew of them. I didn't actually realize the recipes and what possibilities were out there for years. The book that came with the game was way outdated when I started in 1.09.

I also followed some people I met online into Classic Diablo in 1.10 and I only had like half of an understanding of what the GG rares vs the Okay or Decent rares were. I didn't bother to learn all the max numbers and had trouble knowing if rares I found were good. That was awhile ago. Since then, I'll see people posting questions asking if things are good for LLD, MLD or are good rare items and can't believe I used to be that person lol.

I also remember seeing IK Maul shortly after I first started playing in 1.09 and thought it was this Godly item, with such absurdly high damage numbers, a set item, huge maul and something that had to be such a super great item in the game. I hadn't yet discovered that cruel weapons of quickness/evisceration/etc or Fury Runeword or Grandfather or a few other items were infinitely better than an IK Maul, especially by itself.

More of an "oversight". I know Blessed Hammer has been fixed, but apparently there are some other skill modifications, ie

- Barb Masteries' criticals are improved (Noticeable jump from 21 to 29 percent at level 20)
- Shockwave is synergized with Maul

Well... TBH, I have been using the wayback machine version of the German Skill calculator. 😐

Side note, any good skill calcs out there? The updated version of the German Calc seems buggy to me.

I say Baal like I am saying baling, as in baling hay. I watched a video recently where it's pronounced like ball.

what the hell

I played online with Op XbananaX since 1.10 released. I didn't know what 'Spirit' was and thought it was a hacked item because I HAD NEVER SEEN IT. I couldn't believe it existed after looking at its stats.

I spent $30 on an andies helm on HCNL for my hybrid zon early in 1.10 because I was so furious that one hadn't dropped. I didn't know about the difference in ladder drops between ladder/non-ladder. I don't want to think about the amount of time I spent trying to find those ladder only items.

My first three enigma runewords were made in boneweave armor because I thought it was the coolest armor

Back in 1.10 when Stormshields were worth a SoJ I traded someone a SoJ for the level 17 paladin shield because they did the ol' switcharoo and I fell for it

I should have named this thread "One Day I Learned Diablo II Edition" or something cool haha

The first Anni I ever had was because I joined a game trading SoJ for Anni. I had the SoJ but my name is Jordan and I told the guy it was really special to me because of the same name. He gave me the Anni and told me to keep the SoJ. I think he could tell I was really young.

I let some random guy on my account so that I could make a hardcore character on B.net. I thought the red title and aggressive stance were so cool. He didn't scam me but he made sure I understood not to do that again.

Man I was really young when I started playing lol

In 1.10 there was a LONG period of time between ladder resets. Everyone thought the game was dead and ladder would never reset. Then Blizzard announced it. I found one of the first Ber runes that ladder reset. I had just discovered that AT was a L85 place and would run it with my blizz sorc while everyone was carefully making their way through hell on HCL. I didn't understand the value of it because of the long time between ladder resets and massive amount of dupes. I traded it for a Vex, 35 Vipermagi and Stormshield. In hindsight that Ber was probably one of the first ones found that ladder. This was when runes were still white and I'm 99% positive it dropped from an urn.

I THOUGHT INSIGHT WAS HACKED TOO! Spirit and Insight are so OP haha. I literally wouldn't trade or play with people that used them because I was afraid I would get banned. I thought that there was no way such power could come from such low level runes.

AlterEgo made a fire/summon druid and his write up is the main reason why druids are my favorite character. IDK why but it always just stuck with me. I've yet to actually make one though.
