Tips on aiming the hammer for my hammerdin

Hi guys,

Got my hammerdin in mid-twenties lvl's but finding it slightly tough to hit things at the mo. In groups I can mow things down but individuals always seem to slip through plus hitting anything in the maggot lair was a joke!

Stand below the monster (a little left or right is fine). Hammers always originate from the same spot (about "9 o'clock") on your character.

And/or start spamming hammers from a little further away so that they have more time to surround you.

Poops got the gist of it, stepping back a little once the initial hammer field is up helps too since monsters approaching you will have to change direction a bit and might be hit then. Another thing that might help sometimes is using Smite on a monster, since you'll knock him back (and hopefully in some hammer's way) and stun him while you reposition yourself. And something else that helps immensely is reaching a decent FCR (75 or 125 is ideal, but 50 works too), since your hammers will be closer together and less monsters will be able to get through the hammer field without being hit.

Thanks for the tips.... FCR I can see will help a lot I've made myself my 1st spirit sword so will be using that when my pally hits nightmare.

One thing you can do is practice on some lower level runs... like Coldcrow for TC3s. It's really just a matter of getting used to the skill, and no "advice" in the world will build that into your hand/eye coordination.

I am no expert on Hammerdins and I too struggled (and ultimately decided it just wasn't worth the frustration) trying to hit monsters quickly. Just wait until you hit Hell and must deal with Enchanted archers or Gloams! I used Vigor extensively to put myself in position, with the monsters ideally at 9 o'clock. I found a quick map to the Worldstone Keep and the HDin devasted Baal's minions. Other than that, I found him annoying without Enigma. Best of luck to you.

Currently remaking my Hammerdin as well

The only thing I can add to what poops advised is just a little micro dance I've found quite useful for big mobs. Left-click towards a mob pack (so you're just running towards it) and once you get within a good range, start pressing the Shift key every now and then to drop a Hammer or two. Effectively as you move closer towards the mob, the spirals of doom created by the Hammers overlap each other and are much more effective at mowing things down. All the best!
