throwing weapons questions

I know that points invested on strength increases damage when using melee weapons. The same for dexterity and bows and crossbows. What about throwing javelins and throwing axes? I'm planning a kind of throwsmiter paladin. In order to increase my damage output, should I pump only dexterity , or a percentage of both str and dex?

Although both Arreat Summit and DiabloII.Net apparantly have the information wrong, throwing weapons and daggers have both strength and dexterity enhancements. The consistency was based on ranged-only having dexterity-only, melee-only being strength-only, and weapons able to be used in both (throwing) using both. The only exceptions are melee daggers treated as throwing daggers, though I'm not sure if that's a bug or intentional.

It appears to be 110Str for hammers, 100Str for remaining melee weapons, 75Str/75Dex for throwing/daggers and 100Dex for cross/bows. I'm sure someone else will confirm or refute those numbers, though.

That's correct, yes.

To add, assassin claws also fall in the 75Str/75Dex category, and amazon spears, pikes and javelins are 80Str/50Dex.

Forgot about claws, since they have equal strength and dexterity requirements, but the melee Amazon weapons surprise me. 80/50?

Yea, it's abit of an oddity. I'm not really sure what Blizzard was thinking as they could have kept them the same as their normal counterparts, which is what they did for the amazon bows. This is probably only really important to know for the amazon javelin's though, as I generally don't see people using the spears/pikes much. Then again, people don't really use javelin's for their damage either when compared to skills like LF and what-not.

I have a questions, to be sure I understand.

For an Amazon Javelin, does it matter whether the javelin is used as a melee weapon or is thrown? Or do the enhanced damage multipliers from both str and dex both apply to javelin damage irrespective of how the weapon is used?
