'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Hazelnut - (Amazon - Passive/Bow - 21 pts) – lvl 31 – Act IV Nml
Last Quest Completed: Defeated Diablo
Walnut - (Druid - Summon/Elem. - 13 pts) – lvl 28 – Act III Nml
Last Quest Completed: Golden Bird
Peanut - (Sorc - Cold/Light. - 21 pts) – lvl 31 – Act IV Nml Nml
Last Quest Completed: Defeated Diablo

My afternoon suddenly changed, so I got to take Peanut through Acts 3 and 4. No interesting finds to report, got a Tal from the helforge and all rares from D. None were even worth using. I also advanced Walnut ahead to the flayer jungle, but didn't get any more quests. Hazelnut and Peanut are just waiting for him to get to act 4 so they can go through the portal to Harrogath.
I hope to have them all destroyers by the end of the weekend, but that will depend how much time I get to play.

Team Red Dwarf (Sir Lister of Smeg) – 27 points
The_Cat - (Druid – Summon/Elem.) – lvl 25 – Act II Nml (8 points)
Kochanski – (Amazon – Passive/Jav.) – lvl 22 – Act II Nml (7 points)
Rimmer - (Necro – Summon/Curse) – lvl 26 – Act II Nml (12 points) RIP Cold enchanted beetle boss guarding a special chest in one of the false tombs

Just one added point, in spite of The Cat finding both parts of the Horadric Staff and glueing them together, apparently no credit yet for the work of that quest.

The going was slow, but steady, I only continued with The Cat and he's not even close to avenging Rimmer yet. He did do the Maggot Lair on /players8, without trouble (apart from the complete lack of intelligent minion behaviour). The real disadvantage of losing one of your characters is the total lack of safe storage space, and this reduces the fun quite a bit.

The Cat found two more set items: Cathan's Seal and Sander's Taboo (!), the latter from gambling, this was only the second time I got a set/unique item from gambling as far as I can remember. The funny thing is none of my characters is high enough level yet to use Sander's Taboo (apart from of course not (yet) being allowed to use it).

Since I still need to release some frustration as to Rimmer's demise, I don't think I will continue today further with either character, and instead try some hardhitting softcore character, maybe try to continue with the avenger/zealot I stalled a month or so ago somewhere in act I hell.

Team Estrogen (Lacerta) – 54 points
Kadiya - (Amazon - Passive/Bow) - lvl 30 - Act IV Nml [18]
Haramis - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) - lvl 30 - Act IV Nml [18]
Anigel - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 30 - Act IV Nml [18]

Finally managed to work Kadiya up to the end of act 3. Mephisto was kind enough to drop a couple of rares that I could actually use. Kadiya hit level 30 just before entering Travincal, and gained a Valk, which has sped up her progress quite a lot. I'm looking forward to all three characters now that they have access to all their skills.

Best find so far is probably this one:

Fiend Picket
Pike
Two-Hand Damage: 28 to 123
Durability: 38 of 38
Required Dexterity: 45
Required Strength: 60
Required Level: 13
Spear Class - Slow Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 26
Fingerprint: 0x790e9f2f
+31% Enhanced Damage
+65 to Attack Rating
+1 to Minimum Damage
5% Life stolen per hit
Level 1 Power Strike (58/67 Charges)
Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired)

Life leech, enhanced damage, and ethereal. It makes my merc very happy. Now if I could just get a bow that did some real damage, I would be set.

I also found a nice orb for Haramis:
Shadow Gyre
Clasped Orb
One-Hand Damage: 5 to 12
Durability: 26 of 40
(Sorceress Only)
Required Level: 19
Orb Class - Normal Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 26
Fingerprint: 0x830f9b38
+14 to Energy
+18 to Life
+23 to Mana
Magic Damage Reduced by 3
+1 to Chain Lightning (Sorceress Only)
+1 to Glacial Spike (Sorceress Only)
+2 to Nova (Sorceress Only)
Hit Causes Monster to Flee 100%
Socketed (2: 0 used)

Destroyer Cleopatra - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) – lvl 50 – Act V Nml
Destroyer Rasputin - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 48 – Act V Nml
Ieyasu_Tokugawa - (Druid - Summon/Elem.) – lvl 33 – Act V Nml

Cleopatra and Rasputin both had an easy time in Act 5, making it to coveted destroyer status, and making hamburger out of the cow king. Tokugawa is about ready to tackle act 5, and I don't see any real problems for him until I get to baal. I'm still not terribly comfortable killing bosses with hurricane and tornado. How is a windy supposed to handle bosses anyway?

Steel_Poison - (Necro - P&B/Curse) - lvl 28 - Act IV Nml
Steel_Magic - (Sorc - Fire/Light.) - lvl 29 - Act IV Nml

Well, I moved everybody up to the RoF waypoint and I changed my mind with Magic's skill allocation so she will be the last to challenge Diablo. Sword does a good job 1-on-1 so I might take him to Act V first. I haven't found any juicy new items, just the usual low level crap. My helforge drops were: Eld, Nef, and Amn.

Haven't been playing anything lately except a bit with my Amzon who have reached the palace.

March – (Paladin – Combat/Offensive) – lvl 18 – Act II Nml - 6 pt
April – (Assassin – Shadow/Trap) – lvl 24 – Act III Nml - 12 pts

All my chars have now gotten their feet wet and are working on at least one of their end-game skills. The only nonbland items I'm using so far are the ever popular steel flail on my paladin and a +3 chain lit orb on my sorc. Aside from that just chuggin along through normal.

well, seems as though you can remove Team Terrible.. my hard drive died last weekend.. :insertangryangryangryfacehere: i think i have more fun reading everyone elses progress anyway ^_<

Haramis - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) - lvl 34 - Act V Nml [21]
Anigel - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 33 - Act V Nml [21]

Everyone is now up through the end of Act 4. Hellforge coughed up an Eth, Ith, and Tir. I managed to cube up the runes for a Zephyr bow, which is helping Kadiya a bit. Her only problem is a lack of mana steal items. She goes through as many mana pots as the other two put together.

Resl: WP: Lut Gholein - Sitting there and shopping for a good belt.
Hias: WP: Dry Hills - Rescued the Cube and killed Radament.
Sepp: WP: Lower Kurast - Searching for body parts.

Sepp defeated Act II and Duriel. He took revenge for my last Tournament Character that was killed by him. He only dropped yellow items. None of them were of any use.
Moved Sepp into Lower Kurast, found an Eye and a Brain on the way there. I played the Jungle in one big fast session, because I hate the Jungle. I realised that I need a better weapon for Sepp.

Latest Set/Unique items:
- Isenhart's Lightbrand

Had a bit of time to play tonight so I could get my druid to Act III too.

I had to do 2 trips to town for mana pots, and I wasn't in any personal danger at all. My summons proved to be a good protection.

@Psycho: There's a matter about trading between the chars. I think I found a loophole. I'll explain it through an example. Let's say I make a very nice "Gloom" Wire Fleece (FalUmPul) for my necro. But I don't have the runes for two other "Gloom" armors for my two other chars. Now I could just simply use it with my necro, then when I decide to play with my sorc I just give it to her, then I want to play with my druid so I pass it to him, then back to the necro and so on. Now this is cheesy and it's not against the rules, because the rules only say that trading is allowed between chars.
I think it should be specified what's exactly meant by trading.

Destroyer Peanut - (Sorc - Cold/Light. - 27 pts?) – lvl 42 – Act V Nml Nml
Last Quest Completed: Defeated Baal

Really made myself angry at myself this time round. Walnut was fighting D. Needed to restock the belt with potions, so went down one of the arms of the sanct and just didn't go far enough. I thopugh I had left D miles behind, but I hadn't. I was just in range of the LBOD and wasn't paying attention. My own dumb fault.

Well, I did take Peanut to destroyer, but haven't killed the cows yet. Kindof angry at myself now for losing the Druid before he even made destroyer, so I lost a lot of enthusiasm for this. I will have to avenge Walnut though!

Kadiya - (Amazon - Passive/Bow) - lvl 34 - Act V Nml [21]
Destroyer Haramis - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) - lvl 52 - Act V Nml [31]
Anigel - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 33 - Act V Nml [21]

Tried to update a couple of times, but the dang forums have been down for me almost all afternoon and evening. Since we are going back into the work week, this will probably be my last progress for the next 5 days.

Anyway, add another Destroyer into the pack. Haramis got there with no trouble at all. The only time she even slowed down was Baal's last batch of minions. I actually had to back up a couple of times. Of course, I also got about 1/2 a level off just that group, so it was worth it. A quick run through the cow level, and then back to Baal runs. I haven't gone into nightmare yet, so I may still do a few more Baal runs for items. I haven't conjured up any good jewelry yet, which is Haramis' Destroyer reward.

Destroyer Haron – (Necro – Summon/Curse) - lvl 50 - Act V Nml
Athena - (Amazon – Passive/Bow) – lvl 46 - Act V Nml
Destroyer Hera – (Sorc – Cold/Light.) – lvl 50 - Act V Nml

OK, after weckend update. Haron and Hera are Destroyers now. They are very strong chars. Haron aka the SuportMan uses MF gear all the time. Hera with her Ice Ball (and +2 to cold skills staf) kills everything on her way. But Athena goes little slover. She uses 3 sock Bow with +7 to max jewel and 2 Orts and fantastic +42 to max damage brest plate  With inwentory full of elemental damage charms and +20 IAS/3% ML glowes she kills on players 8 slowly but safetly. No NDEs yet.
Best items: +42 to max damage brest plate, +2 to sold skills Io staf (Diablo drop), Lore War Hat, 209 ED etheral rare pike (Ball drop, about 290 max dam :surprise: ) socketed with Amn, +20 IAS/3 ML glowes (gambled).
In Stash: 65 set and unique items.
I wish You luck - Piotr.

Queenie - (Amazon - Bow/Passive) - lvl 18 - Act I Nml
Nursie - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 11 - Act I Nml
Edmund - (Druid - Shape/Summon) - lvl 11 - Act I Nml

A small update from me.

Edmund beat Blood Raven (and had the hardest time doing it as her weapon spawned with cold damage) and then Queenie started on the rest of Act 1. She is up to the Inner Cloister WP. The Countess dropped her first set/unique - Pluckeye - which is in the prize pool.

@crazy_bear: Sorry for the loss of Walnut - make sure he is avenged!

@XorceR: I would have said that swopping items around between the characters is one of the points of this tourney. Your three are a team, and so should be able to mix and match at will. I mean, it's hard enough not being able to use any sets/uniques (except the rewards), and sharing a good runeword doesn't make up for it. I've certainly shared my early finds around, and they made Edmund (the third I played) easier than Queenie (the first). If one of them was to die though, all the items they had on them at the time would be lost and I risk being left with the rest of the team virtually naked! (If I'm wrong on this, someone will no doubt correct me)

Sad news came from the team Mages of Rainbow. R.I.P. Delon. His death was perfect – honorable fall in battle. The disaster occurs in Chaos Sanctuary at the right seal. He was at the farthest edge of the map, where there is a closed pass with a seal. The seal spawned Infector of Souls’ pack right at the entrance to the seal. Merc was dead after a second or two and the mob quickly surrounded Delon. He tried to run back to create portal to town, but there was no room enough for it and Infector’s friends are always extra fast. It was not easy to kill Delon. He had 56% block, good defense, some FHR, 400+ life and a belt full of full purple pots. There was no way out of mob and he was only able to kill some enemies before die. Esc is not an option for real heroes!
R.I.P. brave mage, your deeds of valor will be remembered.

Now I understand that there was a lot of ways to save him. I could create the portal before opening the seal, run to town after opening and then kill the mob one by one after coming from way point. I could try to convert some Venom Lords and escape through them. SUCH A N00B!!!!!1111…

Iarde – (Amazon – Passive/Bow) – lvl 32 – Act V Nml
Rose – (Assassin – Shadow/Trap) – lvl 32 – Act V Nml
Delon – (Paladin – Combat/Offensive) – lvl 31 – Act IV Nml – R.I.P. - Infector of Souls.

Iarde and Rose completed all quests in act 1, 2, 3 and 4. Delon completed all quests in act 1, 2, 3 and completed two quests in act 4.

Total normal unique/set items muled: 47.

Simeonb is absolutely correct, XorceR. Swapping items between characters is integral to getting as far as possible in this tournament. I am certainly not against the idea of creating a runeword with one character and swapping it between characters as it is needed. However, if you wish to restrict yourself in that way, I am not against that either.

My commiserations to those of you who have met their noble ends in battle. Avenge your deaths with fervour and succeed beyond them. I remind you all that time is no factor in this tournament. Take your time, competitors. This is not a rush job. Do not hasten yourselves, because it always leads to death.

My congratulations to new Destroyers. Remember to pace yourselves in Nightmare as it is a difficult move through the early stages. Remember to level up in Act V Normal a bit before you move into Nightmare. Baal runs are a great option for experience. This will help you through Nightmare!

Small update from me:

Team 'Three Old Men' - 67 points
CatchThis - Barbarian (Combat/Masteries) - lvl 40, Act V Nml (25 points)
CallOfTheGraves - Necromancer (P&B/Summoning) - lvl 33, Act V Nml (21 points)
AngerOfNature - Druid (Elemental/Summoning) - lvl 33, Act V Nml (21 points)

My Barb released Anya and then killed Nighaltak (or whatever his name is).

About the Items moving between chars:
@XorceR - it's not a 'loophole', it's one of the main ideas behind this beautifull tourney. In football matches it's possible to get the ball with 1 player and dribble through the whole play-field and score a goal, but how many teams play that way?? :-)
It's your team and the goal here is to play as a team, not as 3 separate HC chars which are trying to make Guardians everyone by himself.
