'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Heres a small update before I go to sleep:

Team Savage - (69 Total Points)
Ormus - (Druid – Summon/ShapeShift 18 pts) – lvl 30 – Act IV Nml - Q1
Destroyer Atma - (Sorc – Cold/Light. 30 pts) – lvl 50 – Act V Nml - Done
Cain - (Necro – Summon/Curse 21 pts) – lvl 32 – Act V Nml - Q1

Cain has finished Act IV, finding a SOL rune in the River of Flame was kinda nice. Got to Diablo pretty easily, and once I got to him all i did was have him decrepified while my army defeats him. Also have at least 1 cold mage out of the 2 so he is super slow, also with some lvl 2 clay golem, SUPER SLOW :lol:. He is now in Act V, gonna get Ormus in Act V next thing I do.

Yeah you can come back, as long as its within the same difficulty. i.e you couldn't get part way through Hell, then decide to do some NM Meph runs.

If you build a nice skelliemancer you shouldn't have any difficulty at all. My first 20 points always go into Raise Skellie, with the bonus points going into Skellie Mastery and Amp Damage. One complete, I aim for Decrepify for the bosses and one point in Clay Golem, Golem Mastery and summon Resist. Then its time to max Skellie Mastery. Nothing has come close to bothering me, although I've yet to take on Diablo, the destroyer of skeletons. :)

Mort continues to sweep aside all opposition on players8. He is at the start of Act4, waiting for the others to catch up.

Esk had a NDE facing Duriel for the first time. I've never played HC before so wasn't really prepared :) Mort had no trouble so I though Esk wouldn't either. There were some tense moments running in circles, before I managed to whip off a TP and stumble through with a sliver of health and no stamina. I went back later with a belt full of fat purples and a newly created leaf staff which really helped. Duriel went down in a heap and Esk is now waiting to start on Act III.

Conina still does't have to many problems except an unhealthy addiction to mana pots. Killing Duriel involved lots of running, but as my Esk experience happened first, I was better prepared. Conina is about to move on from Kurast and take on the council in Travincal.

Herne powered his way to the coveted level 24. His new merc (a Prayer one) and his three Dire Wolves make for a very strong team at the moment. His task for a while now is to cube the gems, rings and amulets the other two team members find, until they have their own cubes.

Odysseus got some items handed down to him: MF jewelry, helm and armor right away, new MF jewelry at levels 8, 9 and 12, MF gloves and boots at level 12 and finally a 'Steel' Flail at level 13. Holy Fire and later Holy Freeze are amazing early game skills. He finished the act easily, hired a Defiance merc and will now go into his Ranger role.

I have got to mention a great piece of early MF equipment I twinked, once Herne had cubed up the gems for it: a Breast Plate with 3 flawed topazes. Lightweight, great defense for early Normal and 39% MF available at the measly requirements of STR 30 and level 5!

I wear the MF equipment mainly to find more rares, but in Nightmare I will hope for the occasional useful unique as well. I don´t foresee any difficulty (with killing stuff and with surviving) for quite a while, so I keep on with the treasure hunt. I know we are allowed to repeat areas but you know that´s not going to happen with my team.


I have a question:
Is it possible to transfer gold between the characters? I have not figured out how that works in ATMA.


I have an objection, too:
I disagree with the rule that states that a lower level Guardian should be valued more if the collected points are equal. I think the participants should share the position if that happens.

It is -- you have to use the 'Bank of ATMA', which is under the Utility menu. (Although I think that the bank is 'ATMA wide', so if you want to use it with more than just 3WD characters, you'll need to keep notes as to how much of the gold is 'good'.

I actually agree too - you could play through on p1 and be much lower than playing through on p8, even if the p1 person did multiple boss runs. I'm not sure how to make it so that the divvying up of prizes would work, though. Maybe there could be a coin flip, or something?....

Open ATMA. Open character You wont to transwer from. Open "Bank of ATMA" from Utility menu. Mark transwer from stash/inwentory. Type numbers. Pres "Finish Transaction" buton. Open character You wont to transwer in.....

IMHO it would be better if in this situation those, who made the same score later take lower place than those, who did it earlier. For example if only Players A and B made three guardians, but A was the first, who did it, then Player A takes the first place and Player B takes second.

Sory Igor, but I disagre. In this way people with large quantities of free time takes adwantages. Another one wont to be quick and this mean dead in HC. Sory for my poor English, but I feel You undrestand what Im thinking about.

As far as I know, there's been no concrete decision made re: the value of Guardians with respect to character level. Neither has there been a decision regarding tie-breaking.

Really, though, guys, what are the odds of two compeditors finishing everything in this tourney? :scratch: 3 characters, all of whom must make Guardian. All of whom must kill the cow king in hell. Nihlathak beckons as a possible tie-breaker, with a point to be rewarded for completing that quest as well.
Last time, Gouda made 3 Guardians, and was the only person to do so, and no other person came close to matching him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he made it around to killing the Cow King or Nihlathak in hell either. If this tourney follows the same trend, we will not likely have 2 equal scores for a podium position.

Don't worry. In the unlikely event of a tie, a fair tie-break will be thought of. If worst comes to worst, we can always ask people to duplicate their d2s files in a spare folder and then PvP the characters :lol:

So maybe there's no concrete decision, but there've been ideas thrown around. :) Although I agree, Nilly will probably be the tie-breaker for those who make Guardian...

You're allowed to trek back into previous Acts, just not ahead of your other characters by more than one Act and not into previous difficulties (except for reasons stated in the rules).

ArcticSiren - This has to be the most depressing character ive ever built.
She is lagging behind and holding up my whole team, they have both completed act 4 but not taken the portal, because they must wait for her to complete act 3.
As if act 2 wasnt long and tedious enough, now shes got all of act 3 to complete.
Ive been tempted several times just to get her killed so that I could progress further with the two characters I enjoy playing.

I am confused...

What is her build and equipment? What mercenary are you using and with what equipment? What /players setting? What is the problem? Why is she depressing?

In the Tankazon tourney, I played an amazon that used a 'Steel' Claymore in acts 2-5 Normal. Not that I actually had to do much, since the mercenary (act 2 type) was such a powerhouse, even on /players 8.

With the possible exception of the Ancients and some act bosses, pretty much any build can power through Normal using an act 2 merc with a decent weapon cubed with the Savage Polearm recipe. Just a suggestion.

Ooh - a whole big point change in the score.

So I only had a few minutes to play. Big deal. Polgara managed to off Shenk, gaining the Diggler in the process. More importantly, she also gained Frozen Orb, which is a big sparkly blue ball of death.

I'll probably play her through act 5, looking for goodies for the other two, who will follow soon after...

Nothing special to report here except that I have finished GTA3: Vice City again (at second time) so now I can spend more time in the tournament! LOL!

Polgara reached Destroyer... erm, two days ago, maybe? I've been running Baal for gear. I've been impressed that ~250%ED rares have been dropping from him, but, sadly, no throwing spears, so she hasn't kept much. Some things have been going into the stash. One thing, of note, was Atma's Scarab, the first ever 1.10 new unique amulet I've had.

I'll probably level her to 50-ish. It seems faster to run p8 Pindle/Shenk/Elditch than Baal. One of the undead in the garden dropped a 2-socket ghost armor, so I greedily put Stealth in it, which will hopefully lead to more killing goodness.

Random Question: Does the cow level count as Act I? (Could Polgara go and clear it now rather than having to wait for Liselle to clear Act IV?)
