'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

The_Weathergirl is avenged! In much the same manner as T_W, Polgara decided on a direct static attack. Fortunately, he was content to throw fire at her, but with a 70 FR, her feet only felt pleasantly warm.

That's very nice to hear, and glad your sorceress didn't have the same fate as mine. And yes, my bone spear takes care of monsters very well on /p1. Just watch those flayers...they love to swarm. I especially love the maps of the Flayer Jungle where the ONLY monsters are flayers. Packs of 10-15 blowdarters can create a headache quite easily.

I was also worried about my fire rogue keeping up in levels, but she's really starting to catch up in Act III. Mr_Bone has advanced into Kurast proper and will soon be taking over Travincal and whooping on Mephisto. Details to come.

younger compeditors, or those not experienced in hardcore play, be warned. SLOW DOWN. This is not a race.

I couldn't agree more here. Especially those new to hardcore need to be very careful with their first steps. It's quite easy to start losing focus, or becoming careless or cocky--which are guaranteed ways of signing your character's death warrant. The_Weathergirl fell victim to the first two...possibly the third as well.

Keep those characters alive!

A few questions...
-I'm assuming, since this is HC and all, that there'll be no Save&Exit to avoid death. What about TP scrolls in the belt? Is that okay?
-You also mentioned the only way we're allowed to go back to prior difficulties is to use quest rewards. Does this mean that we can't reroll maps (for various boss runs, etc)?
-All quests must be completed before moving on to the next Act. Okay. Do all WPs have to be collected as well? This mostly applies to the Anya portal...

Thanks in advance!

1. Although this might cause a bit of a stir with the purists, I've never had a problem with either. In my experience, players aren't able to save and exit before they're stone dead forever anyway. Of course, if people want to make it more difficult for themselves, I've got no problems with NOT saving and exiting. Keep scrolls in your belt, what does it really matter?

2. A difficult question. The rules state that multiplayer games are prohibited, but in my eyes that was only to the extent of playing with other people. Now, it seems that the purists have an advantage as they can freely reroll maps at will just citing that they needed to mule stuff over. Therefore, starting multiplayer games are allowed if you wish to reroll maps, however they must follow these guidelines:

a. Multiplayer game must be started in the difficulty you are currently in
b. No actual multiplaying must occur

3. All waypoints do NOT have to be collected, only the quests.

@Psycho: Can I at least COUNT these items in my septavirate grail. So at least I know I found them. I won't keep them of course.
They all go to the prize mule as stated by the rules.

I think you'd have to ask the creator of the Septavirate tournament if you can do that. Personally speaking, I have no problems with you counting those items you've found.

One question about the rules, the characters have to stay within one act of each other, does this mean that when at least one enters act III it's forbidden to enter act I for anything but imbueing or the cow level? In other words how far is it allowed to go back? Example: if all characters just beat Baal, but don't enter the next difficulty yet, can they do Countess or Meph runs (respectively four and two acts back)? (and no I'm not assuming that any of my characters gets that far, my furthest hardcore character so far was killed by (normal) Mephisto)

Yes this is legal. That rule means that characters cannot progress too far AHEAD of your other characters. Therefore, you are free to travel back Acts as much as you want (within your own difficulty).

S-Team update :

STRONG - Barb (Warcry|Combat) - Act4 - DEAD by D
STRIKE - Druid (Summon|Elemental) - Act5
STROKE - Sin (Trap|Passive) - Act5
Total 62 points.

ALAS ! Strong passed away. With his cruel cold blue hand D slowed him down and fry him to ash by his hot pink lighting. Strong didn't have a chance to make a run :( too bad. Burning with anger for their brother's death, Strike and Strong managed to kill the D. taste of revenge is bitter sweet. And they swear to set free their brother's homeland at the mount harrogath.

no time to mourn, We will keep fighting to the end!

Team Goonsquad Update, 23 points

DrCow (necro poison/curse), Lvl 30, Act 2 normal (completed), 12 pts

ManOfCloth (pala offensive/combat) Lvl 20, Act 2 normal, 7 points.

Stinky Fleabag (Druid summon/shape) Lvl 17, Act 1 normal, 4 points.

Uniques 7, Sets 5.

I reached Lvl 30 in act 2 by repeating the true tomb several times, making sure that Preserved Dead were present each time (new game if not). These are Lvl 23, several levels higher than everything else, even higher than Duriel. They appear in about 50% of the tombs. It took a while though, and I wouldn't make a habit of it. The last level (29-30) takes 2 and a bit true tombs on players 8 as long as there are Preserved Dead. It means I can now zip through act 3 using Poison Nova once I'm able to enter it.

Reportings: heh this seemed like a nice time to update, I got all my chars past Duriel and I'm pretty happy about that :D

[Storytelling] Josef wondered around the tomb looking for Baal. Luckily he had his army of skelletons venture with him because Baal really didn't like intruders. Mass fights were common now so he didn't worry about his followers. Finally he found a different chamber. In the middle of the floor there were strange markings and some sort of hole. He remembered about the horadrim and inserted the Staff into he hole, he heard a silent click and the marking took turn shining...
Let's hope this won't rip the tomb apart guys, he said to his non listening army.. he sighed.. crowded but still alone.
The tomb started to rumble and out of the staff came a beam of light which blasted straight trough the wall on his left hand.
In we go he thought and he stepped trough the hole with his army following him. He started at the thick air in the cave but immediately got his nerve when he heard one of his skelletons fall after an immediate impact with a beetle as big as he had never seen. While half of his army stood still his mage and Jemahli started to attack the big slug. More in a reaction then in positive thinking Josef lifted his arm to Decrepify the beast, staring dumbfounded while it slapped his mage with one hit to the ground.
But at that moment his army seemed to wake up and immediately crushed over Duriel like the sea bashing the shores. Luckily for Jemahli they stepped in front of him because he got tired fast and wouldn't have lived trough the hit that now smashed another skelleton into the earth.
Counting to 4 Josef made sure that the bug didn't get away from his curses and after a tiring fight Duriel finally fell taking in total 5 skelletons, a mage and the golem to his grave...
After another rumble the cave showed some light to guide Josef to some sort of exit followed by a big altar of some kind. Waiting there, it seemed, stood another creature. Tall and firm, he didn't frighten Josef since he looked more like an angel.. Josef though about an angel with battle gear untill Tyrael started speaking... [/Storytelling]

Duriel was quite hard.. but I noticed later on that I still had the game on /players 8 :D Mary had the hardest time out of the 3 and went something like this (players 4): ''enter cave, spam traps, watch merc die, watch shadow die, run around until traps died, tp out, repeat.'' Really annoying.. While I was most scared with Jesus he fared quite easily.. No deathbeetles in the tomb and Duriel actually had a hard time hitting him with holy shield on. It took me a couple of trips to town but Duriel went down on players 8 for him too!

Team Toasted_Nuts (29 pts)

Hazelnut - (Amazon - Passive/Bow - 12 pts) – lvl 23 – Act III Nml
Last Quest completed: Duriel defeated

Walnut - (Druid - Summon/Elem. - 7 pts) – lvl 21 – Act II Nml
Last Quest completed: Radament

Peanut - (Sorc - Cold/Light. - 10 pts) – lvl 25 – Act II Nml
Last Quest completed: Killed the Summoner

Well, I worked Hazelnut through act II without too much difficulty. I am beginning to hate the repetitiveness of this though. To speed up the collection process she went down to p1 until she got to the Arcane Sanc, thus the lower level. Duriel was a pain, but just had to keep feeding the merc potions and blasting away. Took a couple of ressurects, but he never really came close to killing her. Duriel dropped some useless stuff and a Manald Heal.

I also realized I hugely screwed up when deciding on destroyer/conqueror awards.... oh well, can always use rares.

At this point I'd just like to remind people of an important rule:

Once you have started playing a character, you CANNOT change your rewards for Destroyer/Conqueror. Think very carefully about what your rewards will be, as from this point on, if you have started a character and ask to change your Destroyer/Conqueror rewards, the answer will be a 'No'.

Also, Nemar, please state your character's Conqueror rewards before you continue play. I believe I have given you enough slack now, so please make up your mind immediately.

Finally, the most important thing about team updates are the following fields:

Team Score
Character level
Current Act

I know what your Destroyer/Conqueror rewards are, I have them written down here, you don't need to include them every update!

D:! it's not too late to join in, is it? I guess I'll post my team incase it isn't too late..

Team Terrible

T_Lindsah | Assassin | Traps/Shadow Skills | Level 1 | Act 1 | Normal

T_Hoorathe | Barbarian | Warcries/Combat Skills | Level 1 | Act 1 | Normal

T_Skorch | Druid | Elemental/Summon Skills | Level 1 | Act 1 |

Terrible Lindsay: Destroyer Reward~Armor | Conqueror Reward~Weapon
Terrible_Hoorathe: Destroyer Reward~Armor | Conqueror Reward~Helm
Terrible_Skorch: Destroyer Reward~Armor | Conqueror Reward~Jewelry

*EDIT*
Leave it to me to miss the closing date :cheesy: ... Count me in

I think everyone acts like me (no not the same, all like me! :D ) and just copy/paste their old post.. getting that reward stuff in over and over again :) I'll leave em out next time.

Team New2HC (Almighty Cow)
TooYoungToDie - (Amazon - Passive/Bow) - lvl 1 - Act I Nml; D: wep, C: gloves
DontHurtMe - (Druid - Summon/Elem.) - lvl 1 - Act I Nml; D: belt, C: gloves
AAAHHHH - (Necro - Pois/Curse) - lvl 1 - Act I Nml; D: shield , C: gloves

This is the last time this'll change, I swear. I'm deadset on my rewards now. Sorry for all the flipflops. I think I'm going to start playing tonight.

TooYoungToDie will be a MA 'zon with heavy investment in Valk/Decoy.
DontHurtMe will be a fire elementalist with some summoning support.
AAAHHHH will be a PNova necro. Probably smarter to do a bone necro, but I figured this'd be fun.

Oh, and another question. I'm so full of these. The rewards are for making Destroyer/Conquerer. Does that mean we can start using the uniques as soon as we kill Baal on the respective difficulties, or do we have to wait until we actually move on to the next difficulty before we can use them?

I just play the Act through with my strongest character and farm the quest items to my other players. Saves time and some of the hassle of Act II and III

erm, I bet you're loving these questions..

just to clarify.. because 'Enigma' gives +1 to Teleport for everyone, you cannot use it, correct?

I'm pretty sure it was stated a couple pages back that this wasn't allowed.

*edit: found it*

If muling is allowed between characters are you allowed to mule quest items like the horadric cube? So I could get the cube 3 times with one character, and the others can start in act 1 with the cube?

At first I thought this was a clever loophole, however it's dawned on me that it probably isn't in the best spirit to do this, considering they are Quest items and all, so I'll have to disallow it. However, in the case of cubing gems on other characters, I think it is fine. After all, what is the difference between passing your cube around and transferring gems across to a character with a cube?

You can use the armor, but not the teleport skill. If an item gives a passive bonus, I don't think you can use the item unless the passive bonus is for a tree you are using.

On the other hand, if you manage to legitimately make an Enigma in HC, with no trading allowed, I think you should be allowed to do whatever you want with it.

After lastly saving Cain with The Cat, I continued with him to the cube. As opposed to Rimmer, who walked over the Maiden Of Anguish, Andariel did pose quite some difficulty to him, in spite of his fire skills fissure and molten boulder. He had to go back to town in the middle of the fight a couple of times to resurrect the mercenary, restock mana potions and recast everyone. Both did it at the same difficulty (/players8), now only Kochanski remains in act I, and I am very worried about her chances against Andariel. However, as long as I remember to leave in the middle of the fight, she should be able to beat her. If she should get life steal beforehand, she would probably be able to jab jer way through, but I'm not hopeful as to her getting that. I will twink her massively with poison resistance and fire damage items found by herself and the other two already before her fight with Bone Ash, assuming she survives that far.
One more set item was found by The Cat, the Berserker's Headgear.

The_Cat - (Druid – Summon/Elem.) – lvl 22 – Act II Nml (7 points)

Rimmer - (Necro – Summon/Curse) – lvl 22 – Act II Nml (7 points)

Team Metal update

Opeth, Level 25, Act II Normal (7 pts)
Testament, Level 7, Act I Normal (1 pt)
Nevermore, Level 9, Act I Normal (2 pts)

For a grand total of 10 pts... I am taking Opeth through all of Act II first and then will get moving on the other two. Only two stash finds so far, Cleglaw's Claw and Berserker's Hatchet.

I don't know about other players, but this is my first time that I am glad to not have to worry about MF... I think my characters grand total including Morons is 0%... WTF Team Metal. On the other side, I have gotten tons of yellows, even for running Andy a few times.

GL to all

Ahh, yes... I see now. Didn't get this update to the rules. I won't farm items in Act III then.

Thanks Lacerta!

Steel_Poison - (Necro - P&B/Curse) - lvl 24 - Act III Nml
Steel_Magic - (Sorc - Fire/Light.) - lvl 24 - Act III Nml

Moved Poison up to Act III and found 2 X Shadowfangs, Eth Crushflange, and everybody's favorite Cleglaw's Claw.

Immagine this:

Your (mine) lvl 83 assasin has found a way to legitimately make an Enigma.. ventures into the plains of dispair but notices a lethal pack of death lords.. decides to tp a couple of times to get away from them and tele's right into that lethal bosspack of gloams waiting one screen away :cheesy: bye bye :hanky:

Just a small update. Haven't had that much time to play yet. But I'm going to play more tonight and in the next few days:thumbsup:

Team " The Blade Alliance" (bladejj) - 7 points
Ben - (Pally - Combat/Off - P&B/Curse) - lvl 18 - Act I Nml (Jail 1)
Bow Girl - (Amazon – Passive/Bow) - lvl 6 - Act I Nml (Cold Plains)
Fire_Bird - (Sorc - Fire/Light.) - lvl 6 - Act INml (Cold Plains)

Finds: Cleglaws Claw, El Rune, Cracked Sash

Team Estrogen (Lacerta) - 43 points
Kadiya - (Amazon - Passive/Bow) - lvl 22 - Act II Nml [7]
Haramis - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) - lvl 30 - Act III Nml [18]
Anigel - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 30 - Act III Nml [18]

I decided during Haramis' play session that I was going to have to bite the bullet and actually put some points in Energy. I never ever put points in energy, but this build, untwinked, is just too much of a mana hog.

I'm going to try and get Kadiya through at least all of Act II still later this evening, but she's the slowest of the 3, so I don't know if it will happen or not.

Items in prize stash so far include:
Angelic Sickle, Berserker's Headgear, Cathan's Seal, Cleglaw's Claw, Hsaru's Iron Stay, Isenhart's Case, 2xIsenhart's Horns, Milabrega's Orb, Sigon's Visor, Serpent Lord Long Staff, 2x Leadcrow, Shadowfang Two Handed Sword

Items I'm not moving to the stash in the hopes I get far enough to use them (assuming I don't find something better first) are:
Sander's Taboo Gloves for Kadiya

The only runeword I'm using so far is a Stealth armor. I ran the countess about 20 times trying to get some decent runes, but the highest I ever got was a Eth. About 15 of the runs I only got an El, talk about bad luck.

At risk of rousing Psycho's ire, I'm going to say 'yes'. The rules specifically state:

P§ÃÇHÕ said:
'As an added bonus, players are now given the option of equipping a Unique, Set or Crafted item of their choice when they:

Have made Destroyer
And again when they've made Conqueror'

It says nothing about the need to move on to Nightmare to equip the items. If Psycho want's it done differently, he will update the rules in his own time, I'm sure.

On another note, could participants also please include what level their characters are up to for scoreboard purposes. People are telling Psycho their 'rewards' over and over, but are neglecting to include their level progressions.
Some people may think the levels of their characters rather unimportant. If you want to have the scoreboard record that you're in Act V on level 1, go ahead, forget to include your character's level, and don't blame anyone when people say 'huh? You haxor...'

P§ÃÇHÕ said:
In fact in the last Three Way Dance somebody had the bright idea of quoting the scoreboard from my post, then deleting all other teams except for their own, and editing that. This was a damn good idea...

Good to see many people following that advice. I will, now that I see people are 'highlighting' their teams - it doesn't display on the browsers at Uni. Damn x-windows lynix piece of junk.

For your information, all my characters are now Destroyers. I believe I've already said as much to Psycho on ICQ, but here's an update anyway.

Team 'Tolkien' (CraZySorc) - 90 points
Destroyer Boromir - (Barb - Warcries/Com.Skills) - lvl 41 - Act V Nml
Destroyer Galadriel - (Sorc - Light./Fire) - lvl 51 - Act V Nml
Destroyer Arwen - (Assassin - Shadow/MA) - lvl 40 - Act V Nml

And commiserations to those who died at Diablo's hand. To everyone else - slow down, be careful, and watch that life bulb!
