Thinking of starting a Poision mencer can anyone advice me?

Pretty much the title says it.

Are poision mencer viable for single player? Hell?

A pure poison mecro won't be able to complete hell, because most of the undeads and some demons are immune to poison. I would suggest you to make a bone/poison hybrid or a poison/summon hybrid.

there very viable (theres been a couple of pat threads round for them)if you use the greatist skill of them them all to deal with imunes, corpse explode.
the play style will be something like: cast nova, wait few seconds chain cast corpse explode. pick up loot, move on to the next pack.

I did a Poison Necro on b.net for fun a while ago. It was on the new ladder and I didn't have anything. I mean nothing. So, I decided to use an Insight Scythe, hire a Rogue Mercenary and give her a Harmony RW bow (it was first Edge RW which helped through Normal and Nightmare, but lost its power in Hell). It came out very well, a BIG chunk of my stats went to Vitality, killing speed was awesome and I died very rarely. The strategy was to: spam PSN nova, spam CE, spam Revive and keep the Gumby alive.

The equip was:
Some random Necro Circlet
Stealth RW Breast plate
Insight RW Scythe
Trang-Oul's gloves
Natalya's boots for FR/W
Mavina's belt for FR/W
Some random Necro amulet
Resistance rings

I think a little bit more serious touch could bring you a nice Necro. This one did very well, but it was done on cattle.net which means /p1.

all this stuff ,except what i wrote in the ( ),is gettable for pgems or for free in SPFT or Giveaway thread.

I made one not using CE* and did just fine with lower resists and some Trang's stuff. Very powerful build.

I haven't tried it but I've heard that the Venom from the Treachery runeword pumps the damage up on Poison Dagger significantly, in the 20k range.

Poison necros are very viable.

I wouldn't worry about CE though. The damage range of Poison Nova is pretty consistent and short so all the monsters basically drop dead at the same time. I liked investing points in skeletons/mastery when I finished with the poison tree.

Sounds like the builds effectivness is greatly increased with the right gear but I'm going self found from now on so hopefully my sucsess is not linked to my gear too much
