Theme-Based Tourney; Signup & In Progress

I'm sad to see so many deaths this early on. Atleast you can keep restarting. Do you guys know what players setting you were on. I decided players 8 was TOO hard. My assa is so weak(and will probably stay that way) so I've decided to go players 1 the whole way.

i was players 8 aswell, but it was do able
it was my own fault, i kept pressing 1, while healing pots were long gone there :teeth:

I was player 8.

My Assassin just died though, descended into the Countess's tower and immediately was surrounded by extra strong Ghosts. =\

No more Shiba Kukaku.

Wow, not even the end of day 1, and we have several deaths so far. I'm sure once characters get through the early stages, we will see less "deeds" tales being told. I remember back to FB's Zod tourney, and punching my way through to Tristam :). I will not be able to begin Thorin's adventures until tomorrow, as I'm visiting the folks this weekend. Looking forward to getting him started  .

GL to all participants!

New entry: The Drummer

Announcing a new character, as I've decided to join the tourney.

The Drummer

He is a Barb who must dual-wield matched weapons and can only use the following blunt objects: wand (any), scepter (any), club (cudgel, truncheon), and War hammer (and the exceptional and elite versions). He may not use a spiked mace, a flanged mace, a flail, a jagged star or any weapon with an edge. He may not use a two-handed weapon or a shield.

Weapons must be matched, so he looks like a drummer: a bone wand can be dual wielded with a grim wand but not with a club or scepter.

He may dual-wield one-handed hammers - at this point he becomes a xylophonist.

Drummers are known to be vocalists, so he will be allowed to sing, i.e., use war crys. But he must look like a drummer when he fights, so the only Combat Tree Skills he may use are Bash (like he is playing the cymbals), Double Swing and Frenzy. Also Leap, I suppose. But no Beserk for PIs. Gulp!

During his first outing he may wield a single club-but no shield -until he has the funds to buy a 2nd club. This is his tune-up period, a courtesy commonly extended to musicians.

One other restriction: No gloves.

Pyro has rescued Deckard Cain. I'll be playing him at /players1, more comfortable for me as I'm more used to that setting. Less experience, less hazardous, but he'll have to run some areas before tackling harder tasks. A refinement on his skill point placement. I just noticed that in order to get Armageddon, you must have points in all the non-fire elemental skills, so one point for each of these is okay, these skills just cannot be used.

Pyro had to punch his way through the Blood Moor, the Den of Evil, the Cold Plains, and most of the Cave until he finally found a chipped ruby in the 2nd level of the Cave. He already had a socketed wand ready, and he finally got to use Firestorm, which was at level 5. Things became much, much easier from then on. The baddies are dying quite quickly to his fire attacks. Griswold took 2 Molten Boulders and bit the dust.

1 item has been stashed in the prize mule--Cleglaw's Claw. Skill points so far are: Firestorm-5, Molten Boulder-5, Arctic Blast-1 prereq point

So, in update form:
Vildecor, playing as Pyro (a Druid) from the X-men
Points: 7 (4 WPs, 3 quests...though he's still ignoring Kashya :) )

ooo we've started. must play later. :D

you got mail Horobi

Multipliers

Thank you corax.

For those whose build isn't evaluated yet. Or those who've died and started a new build, your multiplier will be up ASAP. For the others here are your multipliers:

Reid Flemming: x1.6
Very hard without a weapon + shield or an armor for that matter. Although I have no experience with barbs so far, I don't think this build will see nightmare (I'd be mighty impressed if it did).

corax: x1.4
This build looks more viable then the one of Flemming, but if I'm correct, the leap skills aren't the most powerfull skills. But for this build goes the same as for Flemming's one, I've never played a barb.....

XDoomasX: x0.8
A plain berserker, should be viable, even in hell.

Cattleya: x1.2
If I'm correct, Tankazons are quite capable characters in comparison to other builds in this tourney (I'll find out later this tourney wether that is true). But this zon will be using a staff so no defence and the other reguations don't make this character any easier.

Sint Nikolaas: x1.4
A not to easy character to play with. Because of no aura back-up and the fact that it is quite hard to combine the skills. I think the start of this chara will be doable but that he will get into trouble at the end.

LordMay: x1.2
Seems like a viable character, I have one question though, why SW, and not SM. The second seems more powerfull. And the bow as back-up seems nice but not too powerfull.

Goltar25: x1.2
Not to much skill restrictions, but without any kind of assistence (no merc or summons), it could get quite nasty later on. And because of no weapon use the killing speed won't be very high.

AlterEgo:x1.4
Quite a viable build, but with a lot of restrictions. But because he'll have a good tank I think he can get quite far.

farting bob: x1.2
The character seems quite viable, but not very much information given. FB, if you could give a rough idea of the skill-point placement, then the multiplier might change.

JicamaEater: x1.6
No really powerfull attack (lack of synergies). But a lot of different elemental damage. I think you might make it past nightmare but Hell will be Hell. Especially without any kind of tank/merc. And the same comment as with AE, no comunicating with townsfolk means no-repair and little quest rewards.

Amidala: x1.4
No really strong attack (nothing maxed), and little synergies make this build hard. I wish you good luck with this character sis.

Vildecor: x1.2
Maxxed blizzard makes a powerfull skill. I think this build is capable in progressing trough hell altough it won't be easy.

poopie_pants: x1.0
Concentrate Barb is quite viable if I'm correct. And with little restrictions I think this build has the potential to progress the furthest.

water_moon: x?.?
You haven't specified any skills (except Valkyrie). And I can't seem to find the post you made for your char in the first thread (if you made such a post). So would you please be so kind to post some skill-placement (again, if placed before). Thanks a lot.

atigdng: x0.8
Same as XDoomasX

#endgame:x1.0
Looks very viable, you might get into trouble early on because of lack of skills. But when you get 3 or more revives I'd say you should be save. Another problem that you probably will come across are bossfight wich last longer then 30 seconds wich would instantly kill your revives.

Horobi: x1.2
Almost same build as Cattleya, so same multiplier, but it is up to corax to decide that. (Corax agreed)

Slothman: x1.2
Another Tankazon, same as myself and Cattleya

----------------------------------------
Multipliers are not up for discussion, I've given them and they had a second opinion by corax (thanks for that). So they stay as they are, if you don't agree, sign out. (Sorry if I sound harsh, but I'd like this clear)

I hope everyone is still having fun. And for those who've died, your deeds of valor will be remembered, and you will be avenged :p . Have fun

Ok, the complete build.
20 TS
20 DT (kicking the poop out of people is his specialty)
20 MB (can move stuff in the matrix)
20 SM (trinity)
10 BoS (closest i could get to bullet time. moves quickly though!)
5 weapon block (can see where someone will attack, and block it)
4 prereqs
total: 99 points.
And a might merc (morpheus)
No fade, no elemental damage added from charms or jewels, but may be used if it is inherent on the item. Must fight baal without morpheus or trinity, like him fighting agent smith on his own.

will you be using cloak of shadows?

farting bob said:
No, i wont be actually using any prereqs. (except the passive ones i cant help like claw mastery)

ok then. still a 1.2 from me :D

You would say that, you got a 1.4 :p
Anyway, a leap barb isnt that hard. you use any war cry leap attack does some good +ED. about the only major restriction is white swords.
I'd give it a 1.3

I chose SW because it will represent another zealot. I want her to be as similar to me as possible. I can control a SW skills so that was the big factor in my decision.

I'm going to join this tourney if it isnt too late.

Name: Atlas (The greek titan who holds the earth)

Build: Titan Berzerker

Skills:

20 Berzerk (Of course)
20 Howl (Synergy to Berzerk)
20 Battle Orders
20 Warcry

Unsure of what I will be putting the others into. Dont want to lock down to a weapon because of the fact that any good high damage weapon is what I want.

Restrictions:

Titan build.
Two handed weapon only.

@Horobi: if severoth is in i'd give him a 1.0 to a 1.2

Springer is currently adventuring in the underground passage at lvl 12.
his rogue merc (Arcee) will be his companion for the whole game, same as the movie.

Only 1.2 for a pure titan barb? As in no points into anything but strength? On hardcore at that using zerk as a main attack?

:(

Atlas ate a champion goat pack in the Countess Tower though and has gone to the heavens. His deeds will be remembered.

TheDrummer is at clvl 14 and has rescued Cain and made it to the Black Marsh WP. 5 WPs and 3 quests. Not sure of the algorithm - how many points is that?

For evaluating my Drummer build, here are the full set of skills and restrictions:

Mace Mastery:20
Bash: 20
Double Swing: 10 ?
BO: 20
Shout: 5+; Natural Res: 2-5

Restrictions: Must dual-wield blunt weapons. Only the following weapons and their exceptional and elite versions are allowed: Wands (all), Scepters (all), Clubs, War Hammers. NO shields, two-handed weapons or one-handed weapons with an edge (spiked club and flanged mace are not allowed.)

Must use matching weapons at any given time. Cannot dual wield a wand and a scepter, or a club and a war hammer. Two wands, is allowable as is two scepters, etc.

Only Combat Skills that can be used are Double Swing and Bash, simulating actions of a drummer, and possibly Leap (not planned, though.) NO Beserk Concentrate, WW, Frenzy, etc. All Mastery and War Cries are allowed except for the skill called War Cry.

Only one restriction on equipment which is: No gloves, must play bare-handed. No restrictions on choice of Merc.

The tank feels too much like that other person's Samus build, plus it's boring as anything to play.

I chucked all my set/uniques into another stash and self-deleted. RIP.
1x Pelta Lunata
1x Death's Guard
1x Hotspur
Sent to Horobi.

Since I really didn't like going slow, I'll go really fast instead. Sonic the Hedgehog theme! Blue items are the style of the day here, as is maxing FR/W on items over pretty much everything else.

So, the skills:
20 Sword Mastery
20 Whirlwind (Spin attack!)

Going really fast:
14 Increased Speed (Bah at diminishing returns. +40% is a good round number.)
20 Frenzy
6 Double Swing (0 mana cost, as a backup).

6 Prereqs.

This is going to be fun, if really really hard to control.

Horobi, You've got mail.
