The Untwinked Level 99 Progress Thread, The Saviours of Sanctuary Rise Anew

After completing my hardcore run and taking a short break I think I'm ready to start my next run. I decided getting my first ever 99 would be a good run to start. It was between a hammerdin or sorceress, I originally wanted to go pure blizzard as that's my favorite build but ultimately decided meterorb. I'm excited to try something new and different from playing Druid all the time. This will end up being a slower paced run, I'm not rushing to complete it and will probably take time to mess with other things from time to time to prevent burnout.

Also is there a way to enter/update myself in the "Questing Heroes Table" that I'm just not seeing?

Thanks I think I got it, I edited my original post with it. One last question what does E/S S/U mean? I'm drawing blanks on what those could be.

E/S is Extended Stash (whether using GoMule or not) and S/U is number of Set and Uniques found. This was one of the first threads that got restarted on the new forums, and some details definitely fell out from the quick transition

As suggested by @Grisu, to start my participation on this forum I want to sign up my new character to this challenge.
So I added my Sorceress that I created last Friday. During the last session we made it up to the Stony Field at level 6.



I plan to use GoMule as my extended storage. I don't know if I will count hours played, even if I will, I feel that I will get lost somewhere. ;]
I hope I didn't mess up the table of participants.

Hello.

I can finally post an update again. Thats always such a fun part of this whole project.

After my Barb Anger reached 16% at level 97 I decided to spend some more time on my pala to finally finish
that enigma so I can add him to the table and post his progress so far.

Lets start from the beginning:

I started this Paladin named Pax to switch things up a bit when I need to take a break from playing my Barb.
During lockdown in school I didnt have any work to do, just needed to be present so I decided to start this character. I didnt feel comfortable doing baal runs with my barb at work (scared of dying).
Leveling was pretty smooth (Pala OP). I started as hammerin right from the start to save a respec quest.
I rushed him through the story and reached Lower Kurast at level 70 with really bad equipment.
My plan was to just grind LK until I get enigma before doing anything else. So alot of deaths were to be expected.

The first 2 HRs came very fast at the first day of grinding LK. It was a BER and a LO rune. Off to a good start.
After that I have a very long stretch with no drops except for a VEX. After the VEX drop another long stretch followed until I get another VEX and my 2nd LO. After another 1000 runs with no drops except for some mid runes he scored his first SUR followed by his 3rd LO and the 2nd BER rune after another 1000 runes.

So in total he got :

2 VEX
3 LO
1 SUR
2 BER

That puts me at more LO and BER runes found than SUR runes over my entired Lower Kurast running.

He also found a bunch of MAL, IST, and GUL runes.
I cubed up the GULs to craft my 4/4/3 cta and a 36@ HOTO.
After cubing up 2 LO runes to get a 2nd SUR i crafted my Enigma MP.

After that I started doing Meph runes and damn he delivered fast.

Normal difficulty completed, so time for a small update.
Izaura reached level 31 on her first Baal run.
During the normal walk-through she found 3 unique items (Blood Crescent, Razorine and Gleamscythe) and one set item: Vidala's Fetlock (Boots).
I was kind of lucky with rune drops, Ort rune dropped somewhere on 4th act, allowing me to make Ancients Pledge and hit 75 all resistances right before confronting Diablo.
Hell forge gave me Thul rune, if I recall correctly Amn dropped somewhere in Chaos Sanctuary, so after getting another Ort rune from the second quest in 5th Act I have all runes for the Spirit Sword. I'm still looking for a base for it.
Next, I will get some more levels on the Baal runs, up to 40-45, depending on how fast will the experience bar grow.
The Act bosses drops were not very good, at least for Sorceress, maybe except the one from the Duriel a nice 10 FCR ring with 19 lightning resistance and some orb, that replaced a 10 FCR wand.

Hello SPF!

I've been playing by the untwinked 99 rules for some time and was suggested by @Bewitch to make a post, so here we are. I am obsessed to finish p8 only hc grail/99 and after many failed attemps this one managed to farm enigma and start to gather gear from meph.



I played through the game as a summoner till ancients and used my first respec after having enigma to get insight iron golem. My plan is to stay as a summoner as long as it's fun and respec to poison at some point. Nothing spectacular happened during the playthrough and most notable drop was propably gface from nm meph, which helped quite alot. After getting to hell i pretty much "run" straight into lk, where i did about 5k runs.

Ok, got distracted a bit these last few weeks with finishing my Zod sept and ongoing multiplayer sessions. Still space in the next party btw.

Anyway, managed to get in a few Barb runs from time to time, and made it to 97 today:



Since the last update, he crafted a nice blood craft ring and got yet another dmg/life charm. S&Us included Wisp, Executioner's Justice, and his third 3os HHG.

For the last 20% or so I was finally back to the "I hate Baal runs" mindset I know so well. And with other targets providing better XP anyway, I think it's time to switch it up.

CS should be best 97-98 option as mentioned above, but it's a bit tough, and I'm rather confident I can make Nihl runs much safer than CS runs. Both targets are better than Baal runs for 97-98 in any case, though Baal isn't too far behind either. If Nihl feels too unsafe I can always go back if need be.

Also, I just enjoy running our favorite pale guy much more than any of the other late XP targets.

Initial plan for Nihl:

As mentioned earlier, for now I suspect the best approach will be to go with Conc/Berserk hybrid build with some investment in Howl, and running without Merc in this particular case (being HC). We'll see how it plays out.

Exact build TBD and gear to be tested, starting with something like this:

• Shako (probably MF socketed)
• Enigma ofc
• Grief
• Beast
• +2 Barb, 10 FCR, ML, res craft ammy
• Blood craft CB gloves
• SoE
• Raven
• Leech/adds ring
• WT
• 2x Wizzy switch

Alternative to Shako would be GFace, will have to check if it makes a noticeable difference in run times. If this was SC I'd go for that by default almost, but in HC I think I'll take the sturdiness Shako provides. Also if I'm indeed looking at some 20k Nihl runs (that's hopging it won't be cut short by a RIP ), high MF maybe yields a nice drop here or there.

Adding FCR gloves would enable one Hoto on switch for higher lvl BO, but blood crafts bring life as well and help by providing both leech and CB. Seems more useful to me overall.

Just in case I happen to find 3x Jah before making Beast, I'd happily take a Last Wish offhand btw.

For now I'm one Um short of Beast, so a brief LK or Trav stint is in order. Probably will test a few setups on SC Barbs as well, just to get a feeling for Nihl runs again before going there with this guy.

Gz to lvl up and that nice bloodcraft ring @ffs

I also did some progress on the pala (ancients still not done) as well as on the necromancer.

Pala is doin p1/p7 cs runs now and i switched gear a bit.
I went from a shako with ruby to shako ber, switched maras to rising sun, aldur boots to waterwalks (immune to fire anyway so i take the more life from the waterwalks) changed my fcr ring with fireres to a fcr ring with some HP. 2nd ring im using a Bk now instad of dwarfstar.
Merc i changed from freezer to defiance. Runs are pretty smooth, i like it.

Necromancer is still doin his baalruns, today i switched from insight IG to schaefers hammer IG, at the moment im not that much annoyed by the fact that i have to use some mana potions and the static field every now and then is very cool.
