I'm gonna make it to the end. (We know you can do it.) I'm gonna be so rich my friend.


Come traveler. Rest your weary bones around the fire. There's some of my brothers stew left in the pot if your are hungry - though I would not reccomend it unless you are starving. Come sit, and I will tell you the story about Pjurhvad the Prosperous.


Pjurhvad is a necromancer from a long proud family of summoners hailing back to the days of the so called "battle-net ladder". More or less all seasons I played after I played my first fishymancer, I would have a special fishymancer besides whatever characters I was playing. He would be there for when I just wanted to muck about.

He is played as a standard Fishymancer skill-wise (20 RS; 20 SM; 20 CE), while item-wise I just equip whatever gives the highest goldfind. (I sometimes make exceptions, but that is the general outline.) He was played mainly on my laptop, on which I cannot find any screenshots, (problem due to glide wrapper?) so I don't have much to show in terms of pictures sadly. But I will try to tell his story anyway, without visiual aids.

Pjurhvad set out summoning his skeletons, but unlike his older relatives he did it at players 8. And OMG! Killing was so slow. But leveling was so fast! The first few levels (cant recall exactly, but maybe half of act one) was played with an extra disadvantage: with my daughter slept on one of my arms.

Pjurvhad cruised through normal and about half of nightmare. (Cruised as in drove really slowly, but with style.) But around late nightmare, and especially hell, having level 22 skeletons was starting to get really slow. Some would be tempted to equip gear with more +skills, but for Pjurhvad seeing those massive goldpiles (especially after a champion pack) made it all worth it. <3
Playing on my laptop, I could also not assign skills to the normal F# buttons. So I did what any rational person would do and just scrolled to swap skills. It was extremely unprecise and wonky. In act 3 hell I finally shaped up and remapped my hotkeys, having a nice piano of ASDFG ZXCVB to play with. This helped massively, and made it fairly straight-forward until the frenzytaurs of the various frozen passages of act V. A handy teleport staff on switch (and many deaths from teleporting right into a pack) finally carried me to the ancients.

The ancients went well, but was quite slow. It was never a real issue, but it was fairly tedious. Lister and his entourage was really tough - they just cremed my skeletons. I considered parking them, but decided that was for cowards. Besides, who knows what sort of gold I would be missing out on? I invested in bonewall and used teleport/bonewall until I had 1-2 alone, then telebombed them and CE their corpse.

Then there was Baal. He is usally quite tame on summoners imo, since claygolem and decrepify slows him so much. However, my skeletons were so weak that if he managed to cast two spells almost all died. So I had to make a few visites to stony field... and dark wood... and black march... Eventually, I got at a place where 10 of my skeletons were alive and Baal was kind enough to stay still a little.
Fight must have lasted about 15 minutes, but I finally stood victorious.

As he was played on my laptop, there was a hassle to mule over items to him. So he got a starting pack, and then played with that. I could never be bothered to fix much with him, since he was what I did when I wanted to expend 0 brain activity. This is why he killed baal with a mercenary wearing Sigon's shelter and wielding a non-eth scythe insight. He would have had a eth tarnhelm (1 durability) if Pjurhvad had not found Tal Rasha's mask in early act 5. ^^

If only I could take such epic screenshots... Live long and prosper, or die and return prosper since it's softcore!
Having your hands full with fallen ones and family members at the same time is indeed tough, like playing constantly decrepified.

Fun write up @Kartongen and congrats on pushing him through the laptop. I have a lvl 80-something pure Fire Druid on my laptop running AT, from back when I traveled regularly for work. The low key play option is nice to have available. Good luck with his future endeavors!

One thing I forgot to mention in the previous post is that ever since I tried D3 on my brothers account, I have been thinking "what if we had auto gold pickup in D2" every time I play one of Pjurhvads ancestors. Cause when regular monsters drop 3k gold, it feels wrong to just leave it but picking up every pile takes so long (especially playing on a laptop with a suboptimal mouse).
If I get D2R (which I will likely do eventually) I will most definitely forward Pjurhvad.
