I don't know. On one hand it's a bit silly that there are chars that literally don't exist in there anymore but at the same time there's also a number of chars which might be considered "active" which will never make it to 99 which was the original point of this thread, not a "ladder". I like the table as a memoir to old forum heroes who didn't make it
If it was up to me I would probably remove all chars below 95.

I would say Allow chars of whatever lvl. Why remove chars under 95? Its the quest for level 99- progress thread. not the nearly or already 99 thread. At the same time what is the point of leaving old ones that are not in fact questing or progressing towards 99 any longer?

For the memories, I would also leave the old chars in the table unless they are high level. I agree with corrupted, perhaps it is best to remove anything below 95. Perhaps three tables is the solution? One table for the completed, two for the serious runners and three for the rest? That way, there is motivation to get into the "ëlite" runners table?

But does that matter? I think I like that idea actually. Inside spoilers

3. Retired
One problem I foresee; like we have today: who will move char from runners into retired if the runners are not there anymore? It's the same thing today. The old heroes are long gone and will not go in and edit this post...

My thoughts if anyone cares:
I'd rather have the 99ers on the front page with all the links and have the other table(s) seperate. This will make updating a bit better since people constantly forget the links within the "done" table. I would also like to +1 the two seperate "runner" tables. Something like "recent" and "old". I believe these two changes would make it easier for people to update and might make some add themselves. It took me quite a while to think it was worth the bother since I knew it'd take quite a while to update it with myself.

Oh no. What have i done by starting this discussion.
I'd say that keeping the table of heroes as it is, isn't even a question. People often just look at the latest updates so if it misses there, you're missing the most important part.
Further i'd prefer to just have one table as mentioned in my previous post with just people that actually continue the journey. Whether it be at high or at low lvl. As long as there is some kind of progress over time. Imo that would mean for instance that newest updates older than 2 or 3 years could be removed. Unlikely they're gonna move and even if they do, it's easy enough to add them back in. Keeps table clean and no fuss with a gazzillion tables.
Since majority seems to prefer an extra table i guess i could live with dividing the table into a contenders/pretenders kind of way. However, unlike Solar i would divide those (again) by latest update. I'd say you're more of a contender when you make regular updates at lvl 90 and are more of a pretender when your character is sitting at 97,5 for 3 years in a row. The first is moving towards 99, though still far away. The other will never get there at the current speed (which is zero).

I very much disagree with some of this, Cyrax.
In my honest opinion, it is very important to keep the "history" of this thread. Dividing the table by progress would butcher this history to shreds.
Is grogs' Assassin or my Light sorc (or any other high level) any less of a 99 contender because they have not been updated for some time? Relegating them to a different table would not be very kind to their progress already made.
What of players that did not put any update date in their progress?
A level 90 that is updating regularly is nowhere near 99, regardless of the amount of their updates. A "pretender" mini-league would in itself show (very visible and tangible) progress, serving as motivation to join the upper echelons. Dumping inactive 98'érs in there would stifle it.

Why take away information about the Table of Heros? There is no reason to go through all the trouble, while removing ease of access.

I think whatever happens some spoiler tags would be nice!
I like the idea of putting the 99 table on the first post, then when the next person makes 99 they can just quote it and add themselves in their own post. Then the mod can easily update the first post as it is already formatted.

Imho, if the Table of Heros is such a distraction (which it is not), a simple Spoiler tag can be made for it, so you can still quote it in your updates instead of relegating it to the first post only. This serves the dual purpose of not taking away the access of that table, while clearing up the size of the updates that need to be quoted.
