Great! I am still tracking this. How long did it take you so far? And how long did it take you from 98 to 98,3 while playing how much a day?

Playing time is very irregular, but I made lvl 98 about four months ago.

I started this character in august last year.

I can make about a million exp per hour right now and I have 194 million to go so in theory I could finish this in 9 days , with no sleep and food that is. It will probably take a bit longer, at least half a year I think.

1 million exp per hour!! This again shows the enormous difference to 1.09! I am currently doing eldritch runs and he gives ~600k. A full AW clear still gives ~8 millions and takes 10-15 minutes... At lvl 96 that is... But still!

However, you have gotten this far, so you will get it in the end! And because you are at lvl 98, you will HAVE to complete it... if now or... later.

~500 runs down, 700 more to 98.

There it is, and she'll be on the backburner for the weekend with the mini-mfo going on. Dang, I knew you would catch me but I though I could reach 98 first. Kindof doubt it now.

well that's me for the weekend. Had a nasty death (hate conviction with a passion), takes soooo long to recover from losing ~6 million.

@jjscud - You may just get to 98 before me, I've got to travel with work this week and then won't be able to play much next weekend

I added your char to the list. Leveling when you are in the 90's goes fastest with p8 Baal runs, but they can be a bit dangerous and death is the biggest enemy of getting to the higher levels. Up to lvl 98 the minions will give you by far the most experience, but a CS zon should not have problems taking out p8 Baal. p8 Pindle is generally safer and works well up to about lvl95

Just a small update but I'll be idle for a day or two, still hope to reach 3.175 by Sunday and 98 the first weekend in Dec.

Damn, you are "just" 10 millions exp away from lvl 99!! How much exp do you get per run? So how long will it take?

Its 3.520 billion experience lvl 99 so 180 million to go, you should know that

Its ~70.000 exp/run.

So about 2500 more runs... you can do that in your sleep.

Do you accept really old Sorceress who started when D2 was first released? Later when /players 64 became an option (expansion 1.09b I think) getting to 99 was my only goal...

After years of inactivity, I stumbled upon this forum. As with all D2'rs, I came back. Found ATMA, (what a great tool) and the ability to trade. I went looking through all my save games for my 99 sorc. Never found my sorc at 99 so I guess I made it to 98 and took a break... for years.

Back then I spent from the 60's to 98 running from Harrogath to Shenk, (at /players 64) leveling and trying to get that blasted Tal armor from Shenk. I finially got one from a nobody along the way and never could get Shenk to cough one up. Thanx to the forum, I now know Shenk can't drop the armor. (Ignorance really sucks sometimes.)

I'm active in the Item Find thread, the Grail status, the Ethereal grail status. But back to my question, with /players 8 being the max in 1.10, I'm not trying to get to 99. I have a new goal, the grail. So if my src is killed, who cares. I don't expect to post any progress entries in this thread.

Should I post a 98 in the list?

I wasn't going to bother updating, but then I figured hey, it may be my last chance in 2nd place.

I've decided to move to a power build, up until now I've been carrying as much MF as I safely can (~300%), I now plan to drop some, if not all.I should be able to stack on a few more skill points and lightning facets. I guess I'll just have to see how that goes.

@2xess - Personally I don't think it makes sense to put that sorc in here. The thread is all about progress in 1.10/1.11. I could see the point if the sorc either progressed to that point in 1.1x or was going to be making progress from now on in 1.1x but if you're not doing either, the, personally I don't see the point.

p8, all minions and baal at p8. So ,do tell, what have you found. If nothing else I can help to colaborate it.

Exactly, at 97 you get 64,208 exp from Baal - on any /p setting, 3 to 8.

It shaves some significant time off a run IMHO, 10 - 15 seconds per run on over 5000 runs (to 99) is ~ 830 minutes.........

For a character that struggles to take large amounts of HP off Baal in one blow (no ready source of crushing blow/ static etc) it is even more significant.............

Maybe RTB could shed some light as to why this is the case??

EDIT: Now another interesting thing with Baal - when killing him with a Bliz sorc you really want him to spawn those annoying appendages - it makes Blizzard sooooo much more effective, have you noticed that Tweety?

Yep, I don't have anything to quickly cut his health in half so I get double the benefit here. Actually, it could be even better for me. At p8, I must have my merc's help (using Kelpie) to keep baal under control, at p3 I can manage reasonably without his help so I may finally be able to switch up my mercs gear a bit more.

And I am no longer in last place...barely

Went from 90-91, only doing Pindle runs.

Removed myself since I started over, didn't like that I used give away items, we will see where I end up this time.

EDIT: Dear oh dear. i just completed 1 run to go through some numbers:

exp to 99 = 291,005,637
Exp per minion run = 24,259
Exp from Baal = 48,654
Total Exp per run = 72,913 (Lister was CI so you could add ~2000 to that)

number of runs from 98 to 99 = 3991

A while ago I estimated 2990 - a little more than I imagined, ~6000 runs total!

It's slow going from here........ ~80 runs and the exp bar has just moved!!!

Yes it is slow, here are my numbers from full p8 runs:

exp from minions ~36,000
exp from baal ~ 48,000
exp per run ~84,000
Total runs 3464

So, about 500 less runs from the extra 12k for the first two minion packs at p8 but without teleport I think I'm averaging about a minute longer per run (4 and a half minutes). Ultimately I believe that means a bit more time.

At the moment I plan to take a bit off from Baal running, finnish the Pindlethon, find a ist and mal for CtA and work a little on a couple smaller projects.

Now that's insane. 35 mill would have taken me a week at 97, let alone 98.

I have a might merc with an upped eth Amn Kelpie snare, upped eth Guardian Angel with jewel of fervor, 70% Kira's Guardian with a jewel of fervor.

I run. I think the javazon's speed at dropping the minion packs and baal is tough to beat but the run down does slow the runs down a bit. Of course, fcr is one less factor that I don't have to worry about.

Broke the 3.4 billion mark.

Soul destroying! Got caught in a pack of Dolls and CtC Bliz from Snowclash kicked in - instant death from the explosions..... there goes 100 runs (~8 hours of playing!) If I can get away with 1 death every 1000 runs I'll be happy though.

Sorry to hear about your death, try to get a CtA together, that will improve your chance to live a lot. Those little buggers are nasty anyways also because its sometimes very hard to see them.

No death's since lvl 96, wow. I thought I was doing good with only 1 death in the last 1000 runs. CtA is why I'm stalled right now. I'm hoping to finish up getting the runes I need from countess this weekend (only an Ist left) and then I'll get back at it.

It's kinda hard to keep up with a guy that doesn’t need to sleep . Rumor has it that WoW took him while Lycan still was 98, did he finish him after all? Still his deeds were extraordinary.

Back to awhile ago, he confirmed he had finished him already. And it was really awhile ago. So even WoW took all his sleep, he still managed to finish his second lvl99

It is really a "shame" we couldn't make even one. :lol:

I am going to get 2 characters in the top 25 pretty soon. Probably within a month. I havent leveled any characters in the past 4 months because I got burnt out. I really hope to get a character past level 95 pretty soon also.

Just a question for you extreemly patient and motivated people. Do you run with any goal to find items or is it all about time and experience? I'm just thinking about the number of Baal drops and you should be getting pretty close to completing a grail with that much action.

I run for levels and experience. I get way way way rich just running up character levels. I don't kill baal on baal runs unless with my barb or zealot, too dangerous otherwise. I can't run baal straight a whole level's worth of experience though, usually I switch between five different areas all in one level. I have a character for each area in the game I like, so the areas I like being in more usually have the high level characters. Most of the time leveling is just a side effect of finding sweet items. I don't know, I just like the dang game.

I only run for items. I know it's shallow Shags, but that's what drives me.

My goal is to get to 99.... Though you're right running Baal does give you some decent items. I've got 13 items left in my grail (well 16 if you include the Cow King's set). 10 TC 87's, 2 TC 3's and 1 piece of jewellery (Maras)

That's it for a week - off to spend x-mas away, we shall continue in 2006 however :xmas10:

It took a while but I finally got Maveen to 91, learning a bunch in the process. I have another character, the Druid MacFergus who is making progress much more rapidly. He is in Hell, Act 1. I will add him to the list when he gets further along. I alternate runs between the two.

Reaching lvl99 is not something easy to do. It takes a lot of time (only someone who doesn't sleep, play 5 hours weekdays, 10 weekend, with godly char, has done twice in 1.10), and effort. If you are aiming lvl99, it may take you years. For most, it is unrealistic dream. Hope you luck on your quest to lvl99.

Somewhere in the beginning of this thread I was saying how much a little FHR helped to prevent death, so in an act of total stupidity I took off some FHR charms for some more MF to get some more leet items, result: 3 deaths.
First was during my MFL league runs to a pack of mana burn vipers taking away my mana and a pack of fanatism enchanted frenzytaurs to finish the job. Second death was to a pack of conviction gloams, life was gone in a flash, I died another time recovering my body.

Oh well just a few more hours to recover all the lost experience.

Well since my HC sorc died at lvl 96 awhile ago I have started a SC one she is now lvl 92 and to my horror I see Vega's name in front of me which is not good at all, guess I have to do some more maybe tomorrow or so to get past him.

I added my frenzy barb, Bul-Kathos, to the list. Currently sitting in Act V Hell, I haven't played him much since coming back to school. He's about half twinked: Arreat's Face, Bul-Kathos' kiddos, Naj's Light Plate, Atma's Scarab, Nature's Peace, String of Ears, Gore Riders, Raven Frost, Dracul's Grasp, and Flamebellow on switch. Merc has Vamp Gaze, Duriel's, and Reaper's. Maxed skillz so far are frenzy, sword mastery, and battle orders. He'll be more of a singer when he's done.

Depends on the level of course, serious leveling doesn't start untill about lvl 96. You can add characters whenever you like, I think if you have a lvl 98.9 character that it would be know somewhere.

I just did that, but then again she's only lvl 94. IMO there shouldn't be characters under 90 (esp if they're not played with anymore) on the list unless they're fast levelers

As tweety said, you can reach 96 pretty quickly (around 300 runs), after that it gets a bit silly

It's more about trying to keep motivated at the higher levels, and this thread is a good way to do it - add away........

Could you post you skills , i want to start doing baal runs for levels/mfing but my pure blizz sorc is abit slow and her stats are abit messed up because when i started her that was my first character and she was untwinked .

I don't have max block, because in the Throne room there is not much to block.

For the pure blizzard, you can use the CE charges of the Bonehew to get rid of CI.

Looking at the table, you have a clvl 92 Amazon, and 90ish Pally. Are you telling me that you can't get one of those to 99 by January 2007? Seems like with the amount of playing time that you have, you should be able to do it no problem!

Just for comparison sake, maybe tweety could let us in on his playing time. For example hours played per day (average), and days a week played (average) just with his sorc.

I have been fooling around with a Bonehew as well with my pure blizzard sorc, but I could not get used to it. Especially the vampires are hard to kill.

Also do try to put a descent of mf ( around 200-300 ish i guess) to make the runs more worth while ?

Wow, I had no idea she was such a hybrid. How is she for MF runs (pindle and Meph especially).

I'm rebuilding a blizz sorc right now that's basically untwinked so I would like some effective way to deal with CI and improved pindle times when he's CI.

She has a 6.5K blizzard, so meph and Pindle are easy, but that is in damage gear. I think I have about 200 MF now with 50 more on switch, only 3 inventory spaces free though.

@Aman - Ayla has 399mf, with Blizzard and every synergy maxed, the last few points have been sunk into warmth. As for drops - I've got 3 TC3's and 10ish TC87's to find though it's taken around 4000 runs to get to that point.

Once you get the hang of the 2nd wave you should be able to clear the throne and kill Baal in around 3.5 minutes. (Kill Baal at /P3)

As tweety mentioned, Vampires are teh pain... If there is a boss pack I'll esc and start again - it just takes too long to kill them - if there are only a few then switch to Bonehew and whack each of them (PMH) it takes a while to connect but it'll help your merc to no end.

Oh, thanks. I searched for a pat thread but couldn't find it. I see where the damage comes from now ( 350(LoH) + 300 (Fort) + 40 (jewel) + Feral Rage), nice. Have you any problems with block lock? I don't know about barbs Block Rate in wereform but my druids in wereform always have problem with it if I use a shield.

You are right there about Laying of Hands damage to demons and Grief also gives arm an additional 180% damage to demons increasing each level.

So, I got a nice CtA, rearranged my gear a bit, did a few runs here and there, and then left Shieldmaiden alone. It just didn't feel right.

Finally, after a month and a half break, I've decided that making progress with a slightly higher risk is better than making no progress at all. So, I'm back with my old gear, CtA is in the cupboard, and I'm making progress again.

So, I got a nice CtA, rearranged my gear a bit, did a few runs here and there, and then left Shieldmaiden alone. It just didn't feel right.

It's funny how important the 'feel' is, I tried changing where I stood during the waves and had the same feeling.

I'm familiar with how the experience degredation system works after clvl 70 in version 1.10, but how was high level experience gaining handled in earlier versions? The experience.txt files from before 1.10 do not contain a percentage modifier which degrades experience directly, but I have heard that a similar system of lowered experience was in place from clvl 75 onward in earlier versions. It obviously wasn't nearly as potent as things stand today, but I'm curious as to how it worked.

As with Grogs, a small update. I was at 2.605b, and then I did a few runs. So there, a small update.

It's funny how important the 'feel' is, I tried changing where I stood during the waves and had the same feeling.

I just recently did the same, moving from out of decrep range to stairs (just at top, on bottom right "ledge&quot with my hammerdin for waves 4 and 5. It works great, but it took 20 or so runs to get used to it.

Now, I use Naj's staff on switch for tele, and I have Lash in the cube, which switches out for my HotO for smite/fanat vs. Baal. I've been saving runes for a while, collecting for a CtA (more for PvP than clvl 99, but still). Like jjscud has, I think I would just reject it and keep rolling. I like my 1767 life. I think I'm solid enough.

Had my 2nd death (this level) the other day, taken me 10+ hours to gain back to exp Conviction gloam pack in the bottom right corner of the Throne, tele'd right into the middle of them, no time to hit esc..........

To answer my own question from earlier, I've found out how the experience gaining worked past clvl 75 in 1.09 and earlier. Taken from the Facts and Formulae Archive in the DiabloII.net Strategy Compendium:

At clvl 76 to 80 divide experience by 2.
At clvl 81 to 85 divide experience by 3.
At clvl 86 to 90 divide experience by 4.
At clvl 91+ divide experience by 5.

It's slightly misleading, as the archive makes itself out to be entirely up to date with 1.10, but the text following this description indicated it was pre-1.10 information. It also makes no sense in correlation with 1.10+.

So, first, the amount of experience is modified by the mlvl-clvl relation, as it always has been. After this, though, it goes through one of the modifiers listed above. As you can see, having one's experience cut to a fifth is nothing compared to the absolutely drastic 0.49% found at clvl 98 in 1.10+...

While I assume many people might like the new presented challenge of attaining level 99, I personally find the experience reduction ridiculous in 1.10+. To have to gain the equivalent of 57,944,400,979 more experience than in 1.09 to get from clvl 98 to 99 seems absurd! To any of you who accomplish this mighty feat, my hat's off to you.

Sorry to hear about your death grogs, one of the downside with teleporting characters, specially sorceress that are quite fragile.

Despite alot of CS:s playing I managed to get my druid up to level 93, exp is still rather good got almost 3.8 million for the 5 waves on players8 and baal on players3.

Well back to some more ballruns before my CS:s clanmembers pounding on me to start playing:grin:

Had to make an update because I had the most amazing throneroom sofar, dont think Tweetys Fortuna would survive it actually. The throneroom contained solely Gloams and lots of 'em, 20+ is my estimate maybe even 30, there were 3-4 bosspacks and some normal gloams I had to drink 3 full rejuvs and I have only drinken one before that since lvl 80, but rerolling heck now, like the fighting.

My Barbdruid have now reached 2200 million mark and on his way to lvl 94, will play tonight until I level, I'm halfway through lvl 93 now and this is soon the highest SC character I have, my HC sorc is still higher even if she is dead.

Woohoo I did it I managed to get to lvl 94 this.....well morning, 5:35 am atm. This is the frist and last time I do a rush like this, more than 100 million exp without any breaks, and I was playing a bit reckless in the finish but he made it. And he is now my highest SC character. Hmm time for bed me thinks.

Again GG tweety for making it! On the map question - I've been changing maps every level up to 97 and then every 500 or so runs after that.... trying to find the perfect map can be dicey, but if I can't find the stairs within 6 teleports (either levels) it's no good.

After being around doing various projects, testing new baal running builds and having d2-breaks I've decided to join this table again. The character is the same as ** pages back, TheLastHero. I'm starting to suspect that I named him that for a purpose. He recently reached level 96 and fits in at the 15th place.

Congratz grogs coming halfway through, well thought it was time for an Update since I updated to a better wolfhowl now thanks to Lothric, and he now have 86 Baalruns to lvl 95.

I have got my sorc built blizz/fball she does great damage but is kinda weak can't taking much damage.

Where is the best place to stand ? Is it just whats suits you ?

Use Teleport. Spam Blizzards ontop of the place where the minions spawn before they spawn. That's what I do with my Blizzsorc. She doesn't get hit.

97!! And 6th place which means over 40 hours of playing in the last 9 days. :shocked: From now on more school work but I'll try to keep running too. Estimated number of hours to level 98: 86,7.

Put in my Cozlinia as i frequently play it.

The thought of putting a lvl 22 char on a lvl99 char quest is utterly ridiculous. Until you get to a point where you are very high level (at least 80ish) and ACTUALLY START DOING HELL BAAL RUNS for exp, it is pointless. If everyone in the SPF who 'frequently plays' their lvl 20 char put these characters in, it would make the table unwieldy and pointless.

Please, for the sake of those who are actually pursuing this remarkable feat (and i am not one of them) please remove this character until you have at least mat'ed her and start to seriously consider devoting whats left of your life to reaching lvl99.

Yes, that was my understanding as well.

Yeah, for thse interested, I just did a few [more] calculations on the experience gaining difference between 1.09-previous and 1.10+. It's rather substantial.







This of course does not take into account actual monster experience differences from earlier versions and the mlvl:clvl ratio experience cutting. Regardless, it still shows the 11 fold+ increase in overall experience needed.

Another milestone for my Wolfbarb did the last baalruns I needed to make it to lvl 95, I think Baal is getting rather angry at me now, killing him over and over again, no unfortunate IM deaths or any other deaths this level.

@Skullcaptain: Don't want to offend you, but its really really not proper for ya to post everytime you finish killing something. A suggestion: post once every 10-15 levels until you reach 90+. Then you can post every level.

Dude, there are a few things you need to think about. Not many forumers here are 1.07, many have upgraded to 1.10/1.11. And those who haven't do not trade,MP,join tourneys (someone correct me on this). I guess it would be fair if there's like >30 1.07 players around to start a table. If not, it's not prejudism, its ridiculous.

However, 1.07 is completely different from 1.10/1.11. It's quite incomparable to be honest. So yeah, this list for the quest for level 99-progress should only contain 1.10/1.11 chars. If all patches are added, it would be very unfair. Think of the 1.09 cheesy-patch...

You said something similar in another thread, some time ago. We tried to explain that there are differences between patches and abilities of characters in that thread. I suggest you reread the comments made there.

There is only one reason 1.10 and 1.11 are both allowed: these patches don't differ much. Even less when mods like RWM and the FE-Mod for 1.10 are allowed. Every other patch is a different game. Of course you can open tournaments for chars in other versions, nobody will have a problem with that.

In versions 1.09 and previous, one had to gain the equivalent of 13,438,787,556 experience. In versions 1.10 and above, a new experience degredation system was implemented, and thus the equivalent amount of experience one had to gain jumped dramatically to 157,399,002,443. A jump of about ~11.7 times.

Thanks, i can see what you mean now. My quite unnuanced statement above was mainly based on the difference between playing on P1 and P8, next to some minor differences i 'feel' when playing either version, and i hadn't considered any possible calculations whatsoever.

I mean i cannot think of any build that would actually stop to pick up Cathans Rule short of a heavily restricted tourny char...

About 1.07, DIIRob explained very well why can't you join this thread: is right that 1.07 doesn't have the "players X" command, but the experience needed to achieve level 99 jumped more than 11 times!!!! That's something that even with "players 8" won't be happening soon, with this in mind, please reconsider your post and stop looking bad in the forum

Not much time for D2 over the last 2 weeks as I'm trying to get my impending wedding sorted......

Reached another milestone, broke the 3.4 billion mark, nearly at 98 3/4, not too many more than 1000 runs to go, it is a real chore atm, will get back into it after the honeymoon.......

Around 6000, p/8 Baal runs:shocked: . If you can do them in 5 mins average (and not die) it'll take around 500 hours of playing..... 2/3 of those runs will be from 98 - 99.

It took Tweety 18 months to get there and by the time I finish it'll be 12 months........

I do him at p1 and it takes me 10 friggin minutes! I plow slowly through WSK2 and 3. About the Enigma/Beast, i'll prolly reach lvl 99 first by doing what i'm doing now b4 i ever get the runes for those uber RW :undecided:

It isn't a race, as far as I'm concerned. If you reach level 99 in 5 years, its still an awesome acheivement. If you happen to do it in a 1.5 years, its still awesome, 3.33 times as awesome though! :azn:

10 Mins at P1, I really hope you are carrying a decent bit of MF, in which case these are MF runs.

Also remember that Baal isn't a significant source of points until higher levels, If Baal himself is taking several minutes he may be worth skipping at lower levels (lower 90s).

Gotcha jjscud! I mean MF runs by my meterorb sorc, 200 runs a session w/o any nice S/U can be really frustrating. Baaling with my very safe skelliemancer would provide the best stress-releasing activity And the only MF he has is 50% from Shako.

Running only Baal minions, not himself, if he is long to kill, because difference in levels between you and him is so high, that you will not get much experience.

Just Baal's minions. Also, 90-93, if you can do pindle runs in under a minute you should be able to gain experience faster than your baal run.

I have done some Baal runs here and there, and now Viraya is at 2.800 mark. 3 places higher, right at 12th place now.

Ha, that's what I was guessing, Assuming you're not heavily reliant on faster cast rate, a Tals Armor will get you the resists (except poison) along with a nice chunk of MF, the only drawback being the loss of your +1 to skills.

Ick, beyond that, I've heard of people doing baal runs with skellimancers faster and with more MF but my only skellimancer experince is playing naked so I'm really out of my league here.

I see. I plan to Baal run for exp only tho, any goodies that comes my way is a plus. +skills are important for me, since better skellie damage=faster runs. I guess the only way to do it faster is with using tele. Nigma is out, only option is prolly weapon switch with Naj's Puzzler or +2 circlet with tele charges.

I've actually done a lot more runs that the number shows. I was at 2.700, but a death w/o body recovery set me back ~23 million, or 23 runs.

Have you tried a 1.07 Valk Wing setup yet? HotO + Vipermagi + Magefist + Valk Wing puts you right at 125%, so you can wear Tgod's and a pair of SoJ's for mana. Without the Shako you lose +2 all skills, 10% PDR, 50% MF, and 1.5 life/mana per clvl. The increased cast rate should make up for the decrease in damage from the loss of +2 skills and PDR isn't that important, but I'm not sure how much you value the MF and life/mana. I'd imagine the +mana from Shako makes up a pretty substantial amount of your total mana pool if you don't BO.

Personally, I always use Tgod's for Baal runs since it completely takes gloams out of the picture and I can afford to be careless. Most of the time I can afford to use Arachnid's, but then I actually run the risk of dying if I'm not careful around large packs of gloams (for whatever reason I abhor having to drink potions, and I don't even carry rejuvs with me).

Just leveled a run ago. I just had to check the XP drop from 95-96, and XP is cut almost in half.

Total: 567,000 xp/run, down from ~1,100,000 xp/run on 95. Since I need ~244,978,000 xp for clvl 97, that means I will need to do approximately 432 runs, almost twice what I needed to do to get to 96. That is about 39-40 hours of game play for me.

In short, I'm really excited as to how this trend is going to continue.

@kab: I decided safety was more important than the extra frame and damage. I instead dropped the Mara's and my Bahamut's ring of the Apprentice for an SoJ and that gosu ammy and T-God's went back on. I stay at the 75% caster break, but hammer damage boosts. I finally switched my sc's to serpent's sc's of vita to make up for the lost mana boost. The setup works great.

While the lady was at work, I got some time to play. I changed my map and now my runs are down to 5 minutes each, counting loading/repairing/healing/selling time. And so I've got ~39 million XP done in clvl 96. That's almost 1/6 of the total needed (245m needed), so I'm doing quite well, I think. That, and I needed to put some room between me and DX's wolfie, which last I heard was 60 runs from 96.

As for gear, I **think** I'm settled now. I'm back to using the soj/raven/t-god's setup, but I've dropped the Mara's and have gone to my ammy. That gives me 75/77/75/75 res and the 75% fcr bp. This could all change, of course, and I could swap the T-God's and Raven for a BKWB and Trang's Girth. More life/mana, another skill point and still having CBF. I'm just not sure about losing that Gloam protection.

Spring break is now upon me, and I'm taking a break from everything. I'll be back at on Sunday. I'm going to try and hit 2.800 billion on the week I return. I just need the game time.

Well the MFO is going crap but atleast my wolfbarb jumped to level 96 10 minutes ago, thats a good thing the bad thing is that he only gets 556K exp for each runs so it takes 440 baalruns to reach lvl 97

There is no fast way to level. But Baal runs are the most effective - run the minions at @ /p 8 and Baal himself @ /p3 (he gives the same exp at 3 as 8).

At best it'll take 6000 runs to make 99 (from lvl 90), by the end of my little adventure it'll be closer to 7000 (deaths).

Progressed to clvl 94.

Added my Pure blizz sorc ColdAsIce to the list after 92 in 5 days. Highest character of my DII career by 2 levels now and does /p 8 only pindle runs. Will update when I get to 93 which shouldn't take too long. grogs you are getting so close..... level 98 is a killer and a half :evil:

Updating, my sorc has reached clvl 95.

The vast majority of the experience gained to make this level came from Pindle running. This is mainly due to the fact that she is still geared up as an MF sorc. This will soon change if she is going to make it to 96.

Pindlin/Meph'in mostly...slow and steady.

oops - wee death didn't help matters this weekend, that's the 4th from 98 - 99 and caused me no small amount of angst!

@Kaptain - IIRC it has up to 300% increased poison damage

You are so correct, and I think I blizz/fire ball is better mainly for the 2:nd wave skeletons, hard to keep them in the fire Wall, although a blizz/fire ball would mean a bit weaker Blizz but it will be enough

Im trying to level my wolf barb up it pretty much uses the same setup as DX used(ok the exact same) and works really well for p8 runs though im having problems with baal.

It's not that he is hurting me it's just too slow(players 1 btw) I think it's a combination of low cb(only cb i have is from gores) and low ar(7k ish with 1 raven) about 12 + with angelics(dual).

Questions

Whats a good amount of ar to aim for when taking on baal ?
My wolf is a ww/wolf barb so should i use whirl so it's easier to get more cb ?
Also im i loosing alot of xp by not killing baal and only doing minions ?
I started using a cresent moon then switching back to grief which spead it up abit.

He is currently level 87

You wont loose a lot of experience by only doing the minions till level 97, the only reason to do Baal before that is for items.

Not an expert on Wolfbarbs

I'm doing baal at players1 atm, and dont be too scared that your AR is low you will have a higher % to hit him when you are higher level, but as tweety say stick to the minions since you dont have much MF and wont get that much sweet items from him

BTW my wolfbarb is a little more than halfway through to lvl 97

Wow found this at page 9 did people stop running after grogs made it to 99, well I'm still running and reached another milestone, 2.900 million mark, looking forward to reach 97 never had a character that high except my Furyzon in 1.09

Wasn't his a wolf-barb? Kind of a hybrid, not a true barb.

I'm rather sure that it's the only kind of Barb that will ever make it through, not sure what other kind of barb that will stand a chance, how about a frenzybarb dualwielding Stormlashers, would be fast atleast

If WW weren't such a mana hog I'd say a WW barb could do it. The hammerdin's sitting at 3.310 billion right now, so another ~2600 Baal runs should do it. The goal is to hit 99 by the end of summer and 2600 Baal runs over 3 months doesn't sound too unreasonable.

Nice progress Kabal. I'm hoping to move a bit quicker but hey, I've said that before. I guess we'll just have to see.

I'm also happy to say, I didn't die tonight. I stepped down the stairs to the Throne of destruction and had a HF aura enchanted undead doll boss pack charching from one side and a conviction aura boss pack of gloams on the other. I'm actually a bit suprised I survived that, and I was well rewarded but that'll have to wait for tomorrow and the IFT.

1) Find the most recent post with the table.

2) Click reply and the posting screen will come up.

Are you sure you didn't get that backwards? I'm getting 30k from p8 minions and 50k from p3 Baal.

Well, the 95 sorc is gone with my old HD, so I put her status as RIP.
With my recent starting-over I have a new one going though.

By the way; I was just checking on the list and this thread, if the table were to be separated into active and inactive (3 months+) there would be something along the lines of 15-20 active.

The highest players setting you can handle for the minions. Players 3 for Baal himself is sufficient until level 97, after that the experience gained from his minions is too little to be sufficient.

The minions are always worth killing at /p 8 imho, and Baal gives the same exp no matter what /p setting 3 - 8.

At level 98 I was getting

Exp per minion run = 24,259
Exp from Baal = 48,654
Total Exp per run = 72,913

There is one character i also play, but it is not mine, necromancer (skeleton-poison) PLAGUEBEARER is my friends char. he gave it to me at level 70+
now it is level 89.

Finally, level 91. Only 8 more to go.

OMG this thread was down to page 11, time for an update have been Baalrunning with corrupted and after a 3,5 hour session yesterday and a smashing 7 hour session today gave me some exp even though I had 3 death, 2 of them today in a short period. But we abort now if there are more than 3 OK's in throne, the only thing that can kill me. only 25 million to go until I reach lvl 97 will prolly happen in the next session unless I have some deaths

I'm sorry for swinging the thread way off-topic, but I've been extremely interested in joining the race to 99 myself. I've added my 89 poisonmancer, and I'm curious to see how much higher I can take him and just how much food I'll neglect to eat over the course of doing so.

I did want to know a couple of things though... are the top two sorcs both meteorbs? It seems unlikely (but not impossible) for single-tree specialists to go that high and the player to not go completely insane from having to deal with immune minions.

And the necromancers! Are they summoners? It all seems so wondrous to me, to be honest, the sheer patience involved in leveling at higher players settings with Fishies.

Tweety is a blizz/fireball sorc

and Grogs was a pure blizz sorc. When baal summons his waves it's only the second wave that proves to be a problem for cold based attack as there are cold immunes. Thats why Tweety had fireball , Grogs relied apon corpse explosion from bonehew(on switch) + merc

That's pretty impressive. I'd try that, except the CI Hell Witches that hang out at the throne always scare me. Must admit, I've never tried using an LR wand on those yet. Thanks for the info, Aman. Makes me feel a bit silly for deleting my own blizzballer.

imo blizzard is the skill for baal running.

iirc if the hell witches were too much they just left(well Grogs did)

Also they run at players 1 too the throne and keep it at players one until the first 2 waves have passed.

Minor update. Probably going to switch to baal runs or tunnels runs sometime soon.

Decided to add myself seeing as I've started the quest to 99... hit 97 a couple of days ago. If I keep my solid playing I should be 98 in a week or two, and then the long haul to that final objective.

Once I'm done in the Pits and feel I'm ready i'll be moving on from Hell Act 1 and towards Baal.
