The "Press Your Luck" Gameshow Mafia Game!
THE RULES
**Due to some new roles and specific mechanics I have set up, I may not respond to querys or PM regarding rule questions**
***All roles were awarded with a random number generator***
****The way the game board will work at night is simple, I use a random number generator to determine the square landed on and the value of that square. Each board square has three possible values****
1) You do not talk about your role or any other relevant information concerning the game outside this thread. This includes communicating with anyone via PM or any other form, unless your Role PM or some game mechanic (revealed in a Role PM or in game) allows it.
2) If you post at night and are not playing Press Your Luck, I will kill you, no matter what.
3) If you edit your post I will kill you (This includes editing for spelling mistakes)
4) If your role allows you to communicate with others during the night, feel free to do so via PM, instant messaging or any other form you choose. Only those roles expressly allowed to communicate privately with each other at night are allowed to. If you have any questions, contact me privately.
5) Once you're dead, stay that way. Dead people tell no tales, or in this case, dead people make no posts. Suck up your death and keep watching and rooting for your team. There's always the next round.
6) Every player gets one lynch vote during the day. Votes and unvotes need to be bolded . If your unvote isn't bold, it doesn't count. The votes and unvotes must be as follows:
Vote: ThunderCat
Unvote: ThunderCat
WRONG!!!
Vote: TC
Vote: ChunderTat
Vote Thundercat
Unvote i_like_pie
WRONG!!!
Anything else won't be tallied towards the lynch. If you try to cheat with ; or whatever else, feel free to, just hope the others won't catch you doing so. Also, names MUST BE CASE SENSITIVE.
7) The required number of votes to seal a lynch for the day is equal to one half the remaining number of people alive (rounded up) plus 1. Once someone reaches this number of votes, they will be lynched no matter what; however, the day will still continue to its scheduled conclusion. Half rounded up equals a lynch, but no lock, so the lynchee has until the days end to persuade the town otherwise.
8) Never post anything in the thread that shouldn't be known to the town. Don't flame in the thread. This includes communication with other players outside the game thread, unless allowed to do so by Role PM or some game mechanic. If you have a problem with anything in the thread, please PM me and I'll do my best to handle it.
9) Any player may claim any role. I.E. Any player may claim to be something that they are not. However,
10) Do not post any information sent to you in a pm. This includes, but is not limited to, numbers of words/letters/punctuation marks. If you want to claim a role, don't copy paste the PM I sent you. If you're a townsfolk aka regular forum member, the only person you should be pm'ing (no private aim or msn conversations between each other during the day or night) is me. Mafia can pm between themselves (or talk on msn or aim) only during the night.
11) I won't be telling you the starting roles.
12) Day lasts 48 hours and night lasts 24 hours.
13) Do not post at night or edit or I will kill you, this rule (posting at night) does not apply to the three playing PYL at night.
14) You will get mod killed if you are inactive (at least 1 contributive post a day).
15) Press Your Luck rules and mechanics:
During each Mafia game day, I will ask a series of questions at random. The first person to correctly answer one of these questions wins the total number of "spins" allotted for that question.
Questions are formatted and award as follows:
Question with no answer given: First correct answer will award three spins.
Question with multiple choice given answers. First correct answer will award one spin.
At the end of the normal mafia game day, the three people with the most spins will enter the PYL board game during the night phase. These three players are allowed to post at night, however, they may only play the game. They may not discuss anything related to the current mafia game.
Mafia game players that are not in the top three spin wise do not enter the PYL game and have their spins reset to zero and must wait until the next day to try again.
During the PYL game phase the three players will exhaust all of their spins in an attempt to win cash or be knocked out of the game.
The player with the least spins goes first, followed by the player with the next most spins and finally and last, the player with the most spins. Spins may be passed just as they were in the RL PYL game. At the beginning of each spin, the player can choose to either play the board or pass all of his or her remaining "earned" spins to another player. The only exception is when the player has spins that were "passed" to him or her—these spins must be played against the board first. Spins are always passed to the opponent with the highest money total at that time. If both of the player's opponents have the same score, the passing player can choose the recipient. Passing spins does not alter the overall play order. If the first player passes their spins to the last player, the second player still gets to play next. A player that has been given spins passed from another player must play them. Passes spins may not be passed again.
Whammys: The board contains standard whammies and one "death whammy". Normal whammys steal your cash along with a funny dance and when you get to four Whammys, you are out of the game, but not dead. However, The Death Whammy is in a random spot on the board, and it will instantly kill whoever lands on it. there is only one "Death Whammy" on the board. All other Whammys are normal and steal your money.
16) Spinning mechanics: I will use two different random number generators to determine board play. The first (1-14) determines what square is landed on. The second (1-3) determines which slide is active when a square is landed on. Each PYL has three possible values (referred to as slides).
17) Mafia game win condition: Simple. The faction (town, mafia, or individual) with the most money at the end of the game will win it. Note that normal mafia game tactics, mechanics, lynching and Nk'ing will affect the total money won by a faction. Simply put, if you the player wins money then die, your total money goes to $0 and it does not help your faction at all. If someone wins money and is lynched the next day, the money that they had is lost. Same goes for an NK.
I will be listing the won totals on a player by player basis, that is, I will not post a running total for the mafia or the town until the end of the game.
17)Read the rules once more. Have Fun! Good luck! May the best team win.
