I think my next game will be independent of lore, or at least that the lore doesn't have any impact of gameplay, its time to try something different.

I tried hosting a vanilla game, then I (took an arrow to the knee) made the mistake of asking people of they want Stargate or Zombies. You all know how that one ended up.

Going back to the hosting vs playing topic: I agree with Thy. Mafia can be a very frustrating game at times and I fully believe that I'd enjoy Hosting a game about 300 times more than I do playing one. I also feel like hosting would probably be easier learned by doing rather than by torturing yourself playing something you dislike an arbitrary number of times until you've "earned the right" to host. Don't play if you're miserable. The skill set involved in hosting looks to me to be completely different than playing. I'm sure playing can give you insight into what does and doesn't work, but it seems to me that you could get that by co-hosting a game with a veteran host.
