The Best PvP WW Druid Guide? + Help My Druid!

Hey, Everyone,
How's it going? I think it's about time for me to plan my return to the world of PvP WW Druid dueling. After several very nice charm transmutations and trades, I have gotten quite wealthy.

I have been looking at a few guides, but they all seem to be outdated. Electric Blue's Hyrbid (Fury/Rabies) Wolf Guide seems to be the best one, but when he was writing the guide, leeching was still possible in the game, but now it isn't, which means the skills and items he chose may not longer be relevant. Can someone point me towards a more recently-updated guide, if one is available? Otherwise, if you know of a guide that you think is good, please point me towards the right direction.

Any word of advice will be greatly appreciated. I am thinking about Grief Phase Blade for weapon, Enigma Dusk Shroud for body armor, Stormshield for shield, Gore Riders for boots, Bloodfists for gloves, Verdungo's Hearty Cord for belt (not sure about this), Highlord's for amulet, a Raven Frost for ring (I have not yet decided on the other ring), and am still thinking about the helmet.

The last time I dueled as a PvP WW Druid was in 1.09 in mid-2002, so things have changed greatly and I am trying to adapt.

How's it going? Thanks for replying (and so quickly!). I spent a lot of time reading your guide, and I like how everything is laid out on the site. For the most part, I agree with your equipment setup, but in your guide, life leech is still talked about, although it is no longer possible in PvP. Any thoughts on this?

Just spent the last hour and a half looking at virtually every single WW PvP-related thread in the last 35 pages (August 2006 and on). Very informative reading.

for pure fury pvp best guide is searching for ink's posts.
Electric Blue wrote it for 1.10, leeching wasn't possible in pvp then.
I think I heared about your ccsoq (or was it mythical), one of the first to have it, iirc. I'm glad one of druid legends are back

Interesting - I must apologize. I guess you didn't actually specifically point that out =P I suppose I just saw items such as String of Ears Belt, Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band Ring, and Dracul’s Grasp, and assumed that you wrote the guide during a time when life leech was still possible in PvP since those items have life leech and, without life leech being possible, those items do not seem as good.

I am sorry for the wrong assumption, and would like to thank you for correcting me so kindly.

Thanks for pointing me towards the right direction. Ah, I had a Cruel Mythical Sword of Quickness that led me to win a few battles here and there. Surprised there are still so many people who remember that =P I've bumped into quite a few people in the game and in this forum who remembers my name... four plus years later. It's amazing how this game works. All that said, however, my "druid legend" title just makes me seem like a fossil... haha. I am still trying to relearn the game and will most likely lose to most of the players who have been playing more often in the new patch.

damn, how fun was the cruel rush ^^ (diablos version of the gold rush).
i miss trying to get those swords, i wish we could upgrade blues lol, i have a nice 299%ed 40ias cruel waiting for the day the devs add that into the game. hey they added upgrading everything else!
 
ive never weapon switched or any of that. yeah im probably missing out but my old druid vs druid 1.09 ways are pretty set. but thats me.
 
I almost miss life leech... it made losing duels almost winnable ;)
I haven't dueled since... Summer of '04 or so... my memory's kinda fuzzy.
Been trying to update myself on all the new stuff that happened in 1.11 (I'm kinda sad to see the carrion bug go bye bye :( )

Anyway, I don't know if i'm gonna return to the pvp scene or not... it would take a whole lot of work considering i'd be starting from nothing (still gotta pick up another copy of the game since i gave my old copy to my sis when i quit).. but hey, we all gotta start somewhere :)
 
I also miss leech. It made duelling so much more fun and strategic, in my opinion (at least fun, I bet I just didn't learn any of the "new" strategies).
Also, it outdated all of my characters. Haven't touched the game ever since.

I can't see myself ever returning to the PvP scene, since all of my accounts are probably expired by now, all of my items are lost, and I have no funds what so ever to accumulate a decent set of items for my characters - let alone 40 spaces of legit SCs with >17 life and a second mod. or >40 life skillers. Dang, thinking about my lost charms is hurting me for real. :laugh: Those took ages (atleast years) to get. Now they're -BAM- gone. Then of course I could resort to eGay for 200+ high runes for a couple of dollars, but then again .. that'd really suck.

I really do miss leeching as well, especially since that I honestly believe that the number one factor for me winning my duels is leeching. More specifically, I used Feral Rage more than most duelers it seems, and Feral Rage was a skill I liked more than Fury. Whereas the typical PvP WW Druid dueler would just use Fury, I used the underrated strategy of switching between Feral Rage and Fury, and running away and towards opponents in between the use of the two skills.

For those who are interested, I think the second factor for my wins was my sword (check Strid's post for an image of the sword). And I would say the third factor would be my low strength build, which allowed me to put a lot of points into Vitality. While most others, I believe, had high strength (for several reasons, including to use items easily, in order to not get body popped, and thinking that strength would increase damage), my druid had only about 60 hard/base points into Strength, which meant that I needed almost 100 Strength points into items in order to use Stormshield, but it worked well for me.

There are other mods in BK ring and drac's besides life leech. Like life, +1 skills, OW,
str, lifetap. :)
 
Hello I didnt read all your posts so far. If you are looking for the better werewolf players on west you should look to meet people in the grove on west. Me and kiba hang out there where we play. I havent been playing alot for a wile because I am working 12 hour shifts. That or send us your acct and we would be happy to meet you online.
 
See... therein lies the problem for me. I have a friend on East that can hook me up with some crazy pvp stuff for a wolf... but all the fair dueling is on West >.<

Like right now, the grove on east is unpopulated (it was always occupied by cool ppl back in .09, but since then the community's quit >.<)

Man I miss the old days.

How's it going? I've met and talked to Kiba a few times - he even loaned me 13 of those 20 life small charms the first time we met. I believe I have seen you before, but am not completely sure. What is your account name?

Once my PvP WW Druid is done - give me another two weeks or so - I'll go swing a few paws and howl a few times with you, Kiba, and the other Druids.
