i've always had a thing for sheryl crow....how was the concert?
The concert was great. There was a warm up act called Mat Kearney. He was pretty good, too. Sheryl Crow is simply a hit machine and, I think, 99% of her songs were radio hits that everyone sang along with. She did a Led Zepplin tune at the end, the name of which eludes me for the moment. It was quite funny to look around to see who was singing along and who looked mystified at what this tune was. All us old guys were singing along and most under 20 had no idea of the impression that Led Zepplin has left on Rock & Roll.
John Mayer on the other hand was really, really, good. I had always thought of him as just another pop singer. That is, until I heard his record titled "Try - The John Mayer Trio". That album taught me that he is really a great guitarist, something which I can appreciate. At the concert, he proved that he really has a passion for what he does.
There was a bountiful influx of female teenagers, each of whom have a crush on him. I am sure they were disappointed when he did the blues thing or when he played stuff from his new album, due out tomorrow, which also has a bluesy tinge. He does a Jimi Hendrix tune on the new album, which is really quite good.
Overall, it was quite nice and I would go again to see him play.
Now I want to see Jason Mraz, who has really impressed me with his singing ability.
