The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

I know... but it's for Teleport. I'm not always inclined to walk the entire way to Baal, Nihl, or even Mephisto.

Oh and I'm going Conviction instead of Fanaticism (Faith bow on Act 1 Merc for some Fanaticism).

Tele in uber-trist = Not needed. No resistance.

If you tele wrongly, you might get ALL 3 ubers spawn (and their crew) on you and the lag might be enough to hose you especially considering you don't have overstacked resist from COH. Especially with uber smite gear, you might not have FCR gear to make fast teles to escape.

Easier to walk. To date my last few rounds have me edging to meph and he spawn less than 5 skeleton mages on me and he is easy meat. My first game this year (after a near 3 year absence) had me procing meph the wrong way and I got surrounded by at least 20 mages.

Creeping slowly and take your time.
Don't tele.

Merc in uber-trist = waste of gold to ress.

In the end for ubers, you will be doing it solo.

I understand Tele isn't useful in the Ubers, which is why I didn't mention them in regards to the teleporting itself. The paladin I'm building is intended to be closer to all-purpose... So, given that this is the UberTrist thread: I could very well maintain a seperate piece of body armor, Duriels maybe, in my stash specifically for that one task.

Duriels does not pack enough resistance on it.

I suggest any armor that has at least 50% resistance. That means armor like Smoke and CoH. Both of them pack similar defence, but Smoke is alot cheaper while CoH confers +15 resist and some extra mods (nice to have but not really necessary for an uber smiter) at a high cost.

Basically COH is the bigger better brother of Smoke at a price of *Um *Ber *Ist runes.

untwinked? =(

i.e. I dun expect to have much high lvl rune words on me... perhaps no luck on super uniques... just to be conservative...

I see kingdryland's build included some very poor idea... but even that has some unique inside... I just wonder what if I can't even land on those...

Well remember this guide is for UT, so you won't need everything. Keep your eyes peeled for a nice fast/high damage weapon, make sure to have leech, keep your resistances in the positives, and have max block.

that sounds... achieveable~ actually I like the smiter/zealot because its flexible on choosing weapons

how much life leech is viable for a smiter/zealot in hell? I know more = better, but is there a recommended bottomline for survival? mana leech can be minimal cuz zeal = 2 mana only, correct?

also... assume I just use wutever I found or gamble for my weapons... wut kinda weapon should I aim for? i.e. zaxe, wut else?

many tks!!

dunno why I dun seem to get bzaxe too often from gambling... its mostly naga... and the best naga I can get is max dmg 150... totally pathetic...

Just a quick comment about gear since I see people splitting hairs over what's sufficient. I am no pally expert and I cannot comment on what's best, but I followed the basic build in this guide and have been uber successful doing uber minis and uber trist. Here's what I chose...

Fortitude
Grief PB
Ravens and Wisp
Guillames (unsocketed to date)
Elite pally shield with 44 base res and 4 pdiamonds = 120 res
Dracs
Gore riders
Thundergods
Metalgrid
18 res all in a sc and gc
Treachery for prebuff

It's not cheap gear, but not really exotic either. I have problems with iron maiden when doing Izual, but no problem at all in UT (I do chug rejuvs preventatively). Have fun!

My build is exactly like this all the important points max with 1 into smite and a few left over, currently lvl 82...

I was wondering if someone could look at my gear I have now and tell me what I need to change to do ubers with the 1-point smiter build in mind, what I'm missing etc....

Weapon: Ebotd 380% ED
Rings: 2x angelics
Ammy: Angelic ammy
Boots: Gore Riders
Gloves: Dracul's grasp
Shield: Griswold's Honor (3x P diamonds)
Head: Griswold's Valor
Belt: String of ears
Chest: Fortitude

Keep in mind I already do ubers with my necro so i can get torches, this is just an attempt to do it with a pali that isnt full smiter build.

thanks for the feedback

if i run my pali with gullies face, how do me and my friend on his fury druid deal with physical immunes while we are getting the organs and the mobs from mini ubers-ubers?

with my necro its easy because of amp damage and infinity, decrept..ubers are a breeze.

but whats the tactic when its 2 melees? Just smite them? zeal? Change weapons?

Since you are doing with a friend even better.
Get your necro in, clear out the offending mobs, lure the boss to some corner.

Open TP -> your friend gets in -> Save and exit -> Bring your smiter. :D

Here is a big question, should I trade my 380%ED EBOTD berserker axe on my pali for a grief phase blade?

on another forum people are saying that grief basically beats EBOTD on raw damage in zeal and in smite (something I wasnt honestly aware about because of the + to damage on grief that doesnt show and its bugged?)

I looked up the grief sword and kept seeing phase blade 35 low to 40 high and was like.."Wtf the damage on this thing sucks?"

then someone told me the +350-400 damage gets added to the minimum and max as well and to smite damage?

so does that mean that the damage on the blade is actually 435-440? but it doesnt show you on the character screen?

Yes and a grief is much more valuable than a Ebotdz after ladder resets. :)
If going for full smite damage, nothing out there can be better than grief.

Remember do not look at max damage ! Look at average damage.

A 380 Ebotdz = 172 dmg to 508 = 340 average dmg
A 340 Grief pb (lowest roll) = 371 dmg to 375 dmg = 373 dmg

Also if you insist to look at max damage, bear in mind you have to factor in the 172 low end damage as well. ;) Your damage range is huge, nearly 330 damage gap from min to max with the Ebotdz. A griefpb has only 4 dmg difference.

Also Grief comes with a innate 20% chance to deadly strike, lvl 15 venom AND -poison resistance, which is far more than what the ebotdz +30 str can grant you in terms of damage.

Also it has prevent monster heal (stop normal mobs healing but Ebotdz has that too) -25% target def (it in effect increase your AR by 50%, EBotd has that too). The biggest winner is the Ignore Target's Defense mod which will affect most regular mobs. Even minions of destruction.

You will hit more often and do greater damage with even the crappiest grief pb.

Lastly, Grief has bonus damage vs demons and all act bosses are demons. So for a zealer hitting a boss, this is clearly superior.

Only cons of grief pb = no dual leech and range 2 weapon, while EBotdz is range 3 and comes with dual leech.
