The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

Using the last Grief/Fort setup, the only sources of CB are from the helm (guillames) and the boots (gores).

That setup gives a 50% chance of CB. Would it be advantageous to switch out gore riders for goblin toes for the extra 10% CB for a total of 60% CB?
Would it make a difference?

Awesome Guide, thank you :)

I love playing this character but I have come to a conclusion that maybe Fanaticism is not really needed in the build. What if you decided to build with Conviction instead of Fanaticism. You would need 70% IAS for max smite with Phase blade but you would not need to worry about stacking resists for Meph. Does convict break PI? I know its -90% def and -125 for all other resists except poison and magic.

So.. Hypothetically..

You could build a trist smiter this way.

Conviction 20 (25 with + skills)
Holy Shield 20
Zeal 20
Resist Lightning 20 (Only if you decide to use dream)

Last Wish PB (Lvl 17 Might = +200% damage, 60% CB, CTC Life Tap and Fade)
Chains of Honor
Nosferatu's Coil
Laying of Hands
Highlord's Wrath
Dwarf Star
Raven Frost
Herald of Zakarum (+15 IAS Jewel)
Guillaume's Face (+15 IAS Jewel)
Marrowwalk

Switch:
Rift
Dream Shield
Dream Helm

With this setup you can run Chaos and Tristan. Use the rift when you are faced with IM. You can use the Dream Helm or just use the dream shield.

The main reason I think this build would be better is because everyone seems to use Salvation vs Meph when instead you could use Convict to override his aura. Since most people use Salvation then your really ignoring your maximum attack speed anyways.

Yes, as I mentioned before, Conviction can be used in ubers as well. But Conviction is usually used only by Vengers and FOHers, while Teslas, Coolers and Rangers exploit Salvation. That's why it''s most often used alternative to Fanaticism.

As for Goblin Toes as a substitute for Gore Riders, er no. You should be fast enough to trigger 50 percent CB, speed in feet you will not have wearing GT. Also you lose 15 percent chance of ow, crucial to get rid of the last of the ubers' lives.

Indisputably the best.

I did the one-point smite in Tristram using Conviction, 20 point Salvation, and Concentration as my main auras for 3 different paladins. Can't really tell which is faster. I did plop in enough ias for 6 frame smite for each.

THANK YOU! For this guide.

I completed my lvl 80 1pt. Smiter yesterday.

I did 7 complete runs, Keys > Organs > Torch. I did 2 solo and had way more fun doing the rest my buddies (barb + hammer). They didnt really help with the actual killing, but made getting the organs much faster.

THE ONLY PROBLEM!!! Is Iron Maiden while trying to get the organs. It sucks, but I kill everything on the way, so getting my body usually isnt too hard.

Also, Meph is a little girl. He's the easiest for me.

Here is what I have incase your wondering:

Last Wish Phase Blade
Guilliums socketed with UM
Highlords Amulet
AP Fortitude
HOZ socketed with UM
Gores
Kick *** rare prismatic LL ring with other stats
Thundergods belt
Raven Frost Ring
Drac's
Nothing on switch, will fill with CTA and cheap +2 skill shield - but really dont think I need to.

In stash I have 3 offensive charms 2 with additional stats. 3 life small charms. 1 FHR sc. 1 fire res and 1 light res sc. 1 life fhr large charm (i think). and 1 mid anni.

I have found a crap assassin, mid zon, mid druid, mid sorc, mid paladin, and 20/19 paladin. :) Needless to say, thanks to the two paladin torches, I have more than paid for what it cost me to make both my lvl 90 gg hammerdin (13k damage w/ NO charms) and this smiter (who also has a near p grief in stash :) )

My resists are almost all maxed in hell, but barely. I rely on the LW's Fade and 1 point salvation aura for Meph (but I wonder if I need aura - but I kill him so fast that I use it anyway, dont think it matters). I dont have any points in the 3 resists for the bonus it gives, my next three points will go into those. Also, I will put one point in Vigor as I hate how slow he is :) - The rest of my skills are just like the guide says. Stats are enough str for gear, max block, pump health.

Thanks again!!

(P.S. I think its worth noting, that by the end of the day, with my 2 buddies (Barb + Hammerdin) we did the last 3 runs (again Keys > Organs > Torch) In less than 30 minutes. And this is pretty much the first time that any of us has done them.)

This is my current setup:
Grief PB
Guillames face
Metalgrid
EV Exile
Verdungos
rare ring-20str 11resists
rare ring-11str 9dex 7resists
gore riders
draculs grasp
pally torch

And currently a CoH. I am wondering if I would be better off using a fortitude, I found a good armor, so I wont need to worry about that. I have a orted kiras for mephisto to switch to.

Hi, I'm in the process of making this char according to the damage-oriented route. So far, the gear is:

Guillaumes-what should I socket into this, Um?
Grief PB-stats don't matter too much, right?
Sanctuary Sacred Targe 107 Resist-good enough, no? I was made in a 39 resist shield, so it was a 98 roll.
Dracs
Ravenfrost
Gore Riders

So... I have questions about my existing gear, as I asked above. More pressing are questions about items I did not get yet:

-Is metalgrid the best ammy? Wouldn't Highlords be better because of IAS? Or does this char already hit all the breakpoints without the extra IAS from highlords?
-Why Fort for the armor? I have a 4os Sup AP in my inventory, and I can choose to make fort or coh. How is a fort better than a coh?
-I know ravenfrost is a must with cannot be frozen. What should I wear in the other slot? Just a rare ring with some resists? Any suggestions from the unique rings? Any hints on what I should shoot for in a rare ring?
-For the belt slot, the guide suggested IK, Credendum, or Tgods. I have all three of these, but I also have a 15DR Verdungo sitting in my stash. Would that be a better option?
-Probably the most important question is, about how much resists should I shoot for? Considering I'm Hell difficulty (so count -100 already) How much resists should I have? I've vaguely heard 100 (so 200 total) is a number I should shoot for for survival, but never got a sure answer. Also, if 100 (200) is the hazy boundary between death and a chance for survival, I would want t number that will solidly give me a good chance of living. Thanks!

Guillaumes - I put a 15 all res jewel in it, Um serves the same purpose.
Grief PB - stats don't matter. With Fanaticism, no further IAS is needed.
Sanctuary - It's a 68 roll, not 98. It's good enough, mine has 108 in total, but with 43 base res.

- I use Metalgrid for the resists. You don't need any IAS with Grief PB and Fanaticism.
- Fortitude is recommended because it boosts your damage quite a lot. Use CoH only if you REALLY need the resists. But you can get resists from charms or switch to Salvation when you fight Meph.
- Rare ring with resists, life, str, dex... whatever you think you need/could use. Maybe a Bul-Kathos Ring for the life bonus. Other than that I think rare rings are superior.
- I use Verdungo's. Not only do you get damage reduction, you also get a lot of Vitality, which increases your life.
- You need a total of 300 resist all (100 hell, 125 Meph's conviction, 75 for max). Poison only needs 175 in total, as conviction doesn't affect your poison resists.

--I would much rather have CoH, IMO its a better overall armor for trist, Great resist, Str, Leech(for zeal), DR% all wrapped into one. Most of your damage will come from Grief when smiting so the extra ED isn't as important.

- I use Verdungo's. Not only do you get damage reduction, you also get a lot of Vitality, which increases your life.

--Remember that the life gained from the +Vit points is NOT BO'able. A nice rare with +life/fhr/resist, or even T-gods for the Light sorb/str would be my choice over Verds in trist, the DR isn't too important.

I am kinda lucky that my Grief rolled 390/40, so instead of resist jewel in Guil face, I socketed in an IAS jewel instead.

So I hit 6 frame smite even without Fanaticism, so I don't lose speed with Salvation on.

Take a quick glance around the thread. All of your questions have been already answered multiple times. Which makes sense, since this is a 3 yo thread...:scratchchin: Time flies...
