The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

I'd pick any of the 'light' elite armors. Also depends on the amount of STR you have, ofcourse.'Perhaps you can pick up a Great Hauberk or Archon Plate somewhere?
 
Just for fun I looked up the light elite armors.
Dusk Shroud
Wyrmhide
Scarab Husk
Wire Fleece
Great Hauberk
Archon Plate

Looks like all will get 4 sockets from Larzuk quest, so to get 3 sockets for Duress one must find 3 socket version or use the cube on one with no sockets and hope for 3. If you want a dusk shroud, I think I have one in a stash with 3 sockets you can have.
 
Alright, sorry if these questions have been answered already but I don't have the time to go through 250+ pages of this thread.

First off, what would be the ideal armor to make fortitude in? I'm assuming an archon plate?
Second, I keep reading that you should roll a Sanctuary with 100+ resists but from my understanding (Arreat Summit) Sanctaury can only come with 50-70. Am I looking at the wrong shield?
Lastly, I haven't played many Paladins and I never went the max block route with any build I've ever made so is there a calculator or a way to plan out how much dex I'd need for max block?

Make sanctuary in a 3os pally shield with resists already on the shield. For example, you will see people looking for 3os elite pally shield with 40+ resists which means the shield will come with 40-45 resists along with 3 open sockets. Thus when you make sanctuary in this shield, you'll get the 100+ resists.


 
How do you spawn them one at a time? Everytime I do it, they spawn at the same time, although Meph always spawns closest to me, so I'm usually able to run away and only he follows, so I can easily take him out first.
 
I just added a +395dmg Grief to my 1pt smiter, and the damage displayed is 8xx-9xx.. Shouldn't it be alot more than that?

Fana is level 25
 
the +damage from grief doesnt show on the char screen
an example with +5 skills and 1 point smite max fanat you get 548%ed

so your +395 *5.48 = 2164.6 this is damage on top of what it shows on your char screen and for zeal the damage will be alot higher.

note i may have over simplified that but that is the general idea.

to sum it up for smite or zeal grief pwns
 
Thanks for this guide, I've been slowly working my way towards an uber run over time. My first character was a fishymancer that I've used to create a base of wealth with. From there I consulted this guide to build a reasonably well-equipped zealot/smiter. Still, I had my doubts whether or not he would be strong enough to withstand uber, and I didn't relish the thought of wasting a perfectly good organ set to find out. Anyhow, tonight I finally gathered the courage to give it a try. I only died once to Meph because I tried risking the wait for a life tap proc from my dracs -- not a good idea. A life tap wand purchase later and I was back in action. Soon Meph was dead with the other two brothers to follow.

I'm now the proud owner of my first storch!

I have a Royal Shield with innate +30 all res. Is it elite? And how many sockets will it get if I use a socket quest on it? I want to make Sanctuary in it. (I'd already made a Sanctuary in a +29 Kurast Shield and rolled +89, but it mysteriously disappeared when I transferred it to my new pally and he died several times at the hands of a huge mob of Possessed Claw Vipers :cry:)

Any replies would be much appreciated.

Edit: I think I've just worked out that the Royal Shield isn't as good as the Kurast shield I had and won't be good enough.... AAARRRGGHHH!
 
OK but FYI the Royal shield is an exceptional version (between normal and elite) and will always get 4 sockets from the Larzuk quest. You can attempt 3 sockets by using the cube socketing recipe, but it sounds like you are looking for something else. Still may be worth a try though as it could be very useful until something better comes along. I am still using a 44 res royal shield with 4 pdiamonds and don't have any need to improve it. I don't need the str nor extra res from Sanctuary. I get fade from Treachery armor which I don before entering the Tristram portal and solo Meph et al with no problems. In fact, I find Tristram to be the easiest of the 3 portals. The 3 mini ubers are much harder. I have never died in Tristram, but a death or 2 doing Lilith or Duriel is not uncommon and I can die several times doing Izzy from the OKs IM.

If you are concerned about the res, I would suggest to make the Treachery and I think your 30 res Royal should be fine if you get 3 sockets. Good luck and have fun!

How does last wish compare to grief for an uber runner?
 
Was wondering if im reasonably equipped for uber trist

helm: guillaumes
amu: +2 combat skills
wep: heavens light
shield: kurast shield 113 all res
armor: griswolds with 30 all res except poison
ring1: raven
ring2: dwarf star
gloves: draculs
boots: gore
belt: nosferatu

75% all res
648-1233 smite dmg with fana
310-590 smite dmg with salvation (needed against meph to have 75 all res)

Is this enough to do trist comfortably?
 
Search up the Last Wish vs Grief thread it goes into more detail, but basically either can work some people swear one is better over the other. Greif's main advantage is the +dmg which when you have the ubers life down grief will end up taking the rest of their life faster. LW's main advantage is the extreme amount of CB which basically means you don't need it on any other gear, so you wont need Guil's helm(switch for kiras) or Gores, allowing you more flexibility with your build. Personally I say Grief wins the match up.

Mordieth your gear looks like it would work fine, prebuff fade from the Treachery runeword it will help your resist problem. You might want to also buy a want with lifetap charges to be able to cast right when you get to the ubers to make sure lifetap is on at all times.

I might try the four PDiamond option, as I don't want to risk having the shield gain only 1-2 sockets. I have Treachery already.

Very interested to hear that you feel Tristram is the easiest portal. I managed to get the organs reasonably easily with the old shield.

I guess that since the damage is coming mostly from Crushing Blow, the fact that the Royal Shield is not Elite is not that important.
 
Because Sanctuary offers A LOT more resists than Exile. In fact, Exile offers no resists at all, other than the base resists on the shield.
 
Oh man, I'd like to take the time and really thank kingdryland for a wonderful guide. I haven't been able to do the Ubers yet (still need to farm keys :( ) but I got lucky yesterday and DClone spawned. After smiting away for about 10s he was no more and as my reward I got a 20/18/8 Anni. :alright:

followed this tic for tac. died a couple of times trying to get through the durance, but otherwise it was pretty easy. came out with my first self gathered torch! 13/17 zon.
