The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

mephiztophelez, thanks for the reality check. I traded for a 4 socket royal shield with 44 res. I added the 4 pdiamonds and it now has 120 res! It has 175 defense with 55% chance to block. Seems decent I guess.

Most of my charms are str, dex and res. If I subtract 125 res for the Meph conviction and 100 for the hell penalty, my final res is as follows.

Fire 25
Cold 40
Lite 10
Poison 10

Wow, it still seems like I am a long way off! I will have to scrutinize my charms for res/square and see what I can squeeze in there.

So for Uber play, I will enter portal, cast Holy Shield, select smite on the left and fanatacism on the right? No zeal then?

As for resists.Just prebuf with treachery(5% chance to cast fade) and you will have 85/100/70/70.

I made my first smiter/very first paladin 2 days ago.

Its gears are:

grief phase blade
upped HoZ
guillame's face
AP Fort
gore rider
cat's eye amulet
5ll bk ring
raven frost
tgods
draculs

the question i have is..
my smite damage shows up VERY low.

My skill distribution are as follows:
20 zeal
20 sacrifice
20 fanaticism
20 holy shield
1 in smite

my smite, without holy shield activated and without fanaticism aura, is 180-181
my smite, with holy shield activated and without fanaticism aura is 500
my smite, with holy shield activated and fanaticism on is 1000.

is this normal?!?!

i thought smite was supposed to do like 4000 to 5000 damage..

what's going on here? can anybody tell me?

Min Smite Damage = (Shield Min Damage + (Damage +x) + (Holy Shield Min Damage)) * (1 + (Strength + (+x% Enhanced Damage) / 100)))

First of all i'm new in this world so please have patience with my. This is my first pal. I choose it because i wanted to do something different from a sorc or an barb like my friens. I have a 22 lvl pal and yesterday night i was talking with some guys (hammerdins) about my char. They told me that i have no chance in hell. And i want to kill ball in hell alone. Can you tell me from your experience if this is possible? Until now i'm very happy about my pal.
 
On Treachery, I read that it's made in armor. So are you suggesting to wear the Treachery armor, prebuff, then switch back and enter portal? Is this the one where someone said to stand in Andy's fire to activate? 5% chance to cast fade didn't seem really interesting so I am not understanding why this is effective or where the res comes from. Any explanation on that would be super!

The thread on Smite damage lacks text description to help understand the various comparisons. I am inferring that there is a damage bonus from the weapon that is not properly shown in the character stats. One set of calculations explains how the stats shown are calculated and then the next set attempts to show the same stats including the damage bonus.

Koboo, you should read through the Paladin guides to get some better data to explain how your character can do well enough in hell. Paladins are strong, so I wouldn't worry too much about some comments from a group of hammerdins. In fact, you might even discover that they are successful in hell because they rely on the power of their hammerdins rather than skill which prevents them from doing well with other character types.

Treachery-Yes put it on, stand in the fire and short enough it should activate(all the time,not 5% of the time,but 5% each time you are hit,which is very often in that fire).

Yes you smite (or zeal) or left click and ALWAYS aura on right.



 
Very helpful... thanks! I want to be clear on what I am doing before I start burning through hard earned keysets. Is there any preference on the type of armor for Treachery? I have a 3 os dusk shroud I will use unless anything there makes a difference.

Stats are lying. Grief 's +400 damage adds immensely to smite damage. BTW I kill ubers with 800 damage smite, no grief. That's right 800 damage smite.

I have been making my smiter over the past week and I need some advice on whether I can handle the ubers or not.

Gear:
Helm- Guillame's (I am going to put um in for resis)
Weap- Heaven's Light x2 Shael
Armor- DON'T HAVE YET ---- I use Duriels Shell but I need fortitude
Shield- Sanctuary (101 resis)
Gloves- Dracs
Belt- T-gods
Boots- Gore
Ammy- Metalgrid (30 resis)
Ring 1-Raven
Ring 2- Wisp

Charms- I have a few resist charms
Armor Switch- I have the runes to make treachery for the fade

I am trying to trade for the Lo rune in fortitude but that is proving tougher than I thought. My pally is lvl 87 right now and I have 280 unused stat points because I want to wait until I get Fortitude before I distribute them. I also have 9 unused skill points where I think I am going to pump Defiance for the extra defense.

Skill points:
20 Fanat
20 Zeal
20 Holy Shield
20 Sacrifice
1 Salvation
1 Charge
1 Smite
1 Blessed Hammer (pre-req)
1 Holy Bolt (pre-req)
1 Might (pre-req)
1 Blessed Aim (pre-req)
1 Concentration (pre-req)

Any thoughts would be great.

Using up those points is so hard! Mine is lvl 81. I equipped my final gear (or at least what I am going to use to give it a try - similar to yours but no Sanct), activated HS, and increased dex until it said 75%. I then pumped all but about 100 points into vit which took me from 400 something to over 1000 life. I have reserved those 100 points, but will likely invest in vit at some point. Am wondering if the 5 points per lvl is enough to maintain block or if I will need to use some of those 100 reserved to keep it?

I made treachery in a mage plate with about 245 def. I went to shenk to see if I oculd use the fire, but basically ended up drinking several rejuvs and still died. Maybe I will tele to Andy with my sorc and then bring the pally in for the rest.

I think I will burn up a keyset today and see how it goes!
