The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

tell me pls why don`t u use torch and skillers? I`ve made a smiter for the first time and don`t understand this...pls explain!
 
Well, I laid all my strenght to get my char. full equipted with the gear; what I think is best for my char
So, simply I havet could afford skillers and torch yet (They are quite expensive, if you want high stats skillers and torch for paladin). But I found a nice barb & sorc tourch yesterday, so Im hoping that I could trade it, so one day I will have my skillers and paladin torch ;)

With the items eclipz is using, skillers are total overkill and don't add much in the way of damage/survivability for a smiter anyway. I'd advise against using a torch since its firestorm procs add significant lag and can get you kicked from/crash the game. You really don't want that to happen just before the reward drops.


 
Skillers are a waste on any melee/physical character except, maybe, for a kicksin. Main damage output comes from equipment, and a good weapon does more for such a character than 5 skillers.

Not to mention skillers take up a whole of 3 spaces each. A waste of inventory that could have been filled with resist/life/FHR small charms (I am talking smiter here, so no AR/elem damage).

About the Torch:

1. It can easily drop your UT game with the Firestorm proc. At 6 fpa smite speed, you'll be seeing a Firestorm each second, and even faster sometimes (it's random, after all). Coupled with all the minion attacks and Diablo's/Baal's intensive attacks, this can easily show you a nice shiny C/I screen.

2. The +skills are not really needed, like I said, and the stats/resists, while very good, are not worth it because of #1.
 
This has probably been said somewhere in the 240 other pages, but I found that using (and this during ubers only) a wizspike, highlords and sanctuary is a mighty strong build and is cheaper to 'Finalize'.

The wizspike has huge resistance and the highlords gives back the IAS lost to using a Grief or something else. Highlords also gives more Light Res and +1 Skills.

I have Fort/Guillames with 20 Life 15 Res All Jewel/Gores/Dracs/Verdungos/Raven Frost and I have a 40 CRes/10 Resist Rest ring on.

I only one 7 Res All LC, one 8 LRes SC, one PComb, and a bunch of AR/Str/FCR/etc SCs. I have done Ubers 3 times with amazing ease (only one other person sitting in game tho). I averaged 1 Full Juv (usually an accident), 6 HPots, and 4 MPots.

Wizspike and Highlords are very easy to come across, but a nice Sanctuary is a little more difficult.

What does everyone think? Did someone already post this idea?
 
I haven't seen comment about using a pheonix shield for a smiter build. Is there a reason for this? It seems like the ED would be a valuable source of dmg... or is the loss of resistances too much. Or am I just missing the boat completely?
 
Phoenix procs firestorm, and firestorm causes Connection Interrupted for a lot of people, so it's not a good idea for ubers.
 
This is a great guide. It's a bit old, so might need updating, idk.

I read through about the first 30 pages, but I decided to ask my question after all. I didn't really feel like going through almost 250 pages and not getting my answer.

I'm still in the process of making the Smiter, and I've never been to Uber Tristram. I am not sure what to expect, and all I know is from stories on the forum.

My main questions are around gear. My available gear is spread over all the sections (from very poor to very rich), so I have trouble making a gear setup idea. For example I don't have ravenfrost, but I have Gores, and Tgods.

Here's what I have available or I can make, that I think is suitable for this build:

Helm: - no Guillaume's here!
-Crown socketed with Ort and Thul
-Kyra's 59 res all socketed with PRuby

Armor:
-Duriel's
-Griswold's
-can make Smoke
-can make Duress
-can make Treachery
-Guardian Angel (can socket with Um)
-Tal Rasha's


Shield:
-44 res all 4os Heraldic shield (can make spirit or Pdiamond)
-33 res all Akaran Rondache
-Rhyme in Crown Shield (65 res all, CBF, high block)

Weapon:
-Lightsabre
-Redeemer
-Crushflange (33CB - worked extremely well in Normal Meph at clvl 36)
-0os Phase Blade (how many sockets can this get from Larzuk?)
-slvl 5 Life tap Wand (82ish charges)

Belt:
-Tgods
-Goldwrap
-String of Ears
-IK
-Nosferatu's coil
-couple blood belts (up to 9% OW)
-rare with 24 FHR, 18 STR, some resists

Gloves: - no Dracul's here!
-bloodcrafted with 9% CB
-several 20 IAS gloves (sander's)

Boots:
-Gores (no Goblin Toe available for me!)
-didn't seem like anything else in the guide, so these are the boots I'll probably use

Jewelry:
-Dwarf Star
-rares with resists, strength, life, mana
-The Cat's Eye
-19 res all magic amulet
-Tal Rasha's Adjudication (doubt any good)
-Seraph's Hymn (skills moslty, would give +4 to Salvation...)
-nagel, manald ---> irrelevant IMO

- 15%IAS jewels available.

Charms: - No Anni available!
-18/18 -ish Sorc Torch (not good due to Firestorm)
-15-19 life sc with some small resists
-other resist charms (5-10, for one element)
-FRW/FHR sc's

Runes available:
Ist (1), Mal(1), Um(1), Pul(1), Lem(1), Fal(1), Lum(2), Io(1), hel(1), Dol(4), Shael(3), and below.

Plenty of Socket quests available, and plenty of Pgems available.

So my main problems are:
- don't know which armor to use/make
- don't have Dracul's
- don't have Guillaume's
- don't have Grief or Io rune
- don't know which weapon to go with (shael?)

If I'd go with Griswold's what should I socket with?

Edit: I don't mind if it takes 30 mins to get the torch and SoH, I'm not that much into cookie cutter builds anyway!

Nothing much changed, actually, except for the fact that the ubers are even more of a push over than we imagined when he wrote the guide. The guide was designed with safety in mind, so there are ways to "relax" certain requirements and kill faster. I remembered the guide came out only because there were 1000 threads asking how to uber back then, and he was tired of answering the questions 1 by 1.

The best armor on your list is probably duress.
You don't need a grief, the redeemer I gave you should be enough in most cases (maybe you want to use lightsabre vs meph, I don't know).
Trade for the dracs, period. The Tal's amulet should be great for this purpose.
Kira's what I personally use for ubering, so it should work fine. You can trade for a Guillaume's as well, since they are not that expensive.
Belt's obviously T-gods.
Boot's obviously gore's.
Rings......, can you get a ravenfrost? If not then you are stuck with the Kira's. You need CBF. The other ring can be a rare ring with resist, and possibly leech.
Amulet preferably is highlord's, though Seraph's Hymn is doable. I would actually use Cat's Eye if I am using the redeemer, until I can get a highlord's. You need the IAS.
For shield, get as much resist as possible. You also want an elite shield so that you get enough smite damage (and hence leech), especially if you decide to use the lightsabre vs meph. I made that mistake once before last ladder (low holy shield, crappy shield), and it wasn't pretty vs Lilith.

I will probably end up using the Redeemer and the Lightsabre unless I find runes for grief during my key runs. I'm still on the look for a decent paladin shield, but I'm yet not sure whether to use Spirit (FHR + resists) or Pdiamond.

As for the Phase blade, how many sockets will it get from Larzuk, 5 or 6?

Took me a second ladder to finally get the gear, and motivation to play long enough, but following this build I did my first uber trist earlier and died about 8 times. Finally won but it hurt. Just finished my second try and was able to complete it in about 3 mins without dying. Suprising how much you can learn after 1 try. And I think it was mentioned in later posts but if you're having resist trouble prebuff with a treachery to get fade.
