The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

Thx for the guide :)
Did my first run yesterday got spanked a little ^^ but mostly because of the guy in front of the computer and not because of the Pala ^^
I need some more res that is for sure but hey i did it ;)

Drop was an 18/20 ama torch :/ that stats on a better one would have been more fun since i do not need the ama one hehe :)

Thx again :)

My first own torch was a 15/20 ama Torch, IIRC. A great letdown. Since that time, I never buy keysets anymore. I only search for them (but Nihlathak has been EVIL to me lately, drops no keys).

yeah its a good roll but i have a lower one that is enought for my ama :) And as i need funds a roll like that on soso or pala would be nicer ^^

Okay, guys, I've been following this guide quite closely and, largely due to a huge mule sellout, I've gotten my hands on some nice gear.

To be exact:

Weapon: 39IAS/344dmg/-24psn res Grief Phase Blade, made it myself
Shield: 154ed non-upped HoZ, found myself
Helm: Guillaume's Face
Armor: 1401def 29@ res Fortitude Archon Plate, made it myself
Belt: T-Gods 196ed/credendum/IK belt (don't know which I need)
Ring 1: 229/19 raven
Ring 2: Rare leech/resists
Boots: 197ed Gore Rider
Amu: Saracen's chance

So, what I'm missing seems to be metalgrid, right?

Questions:

What should I socket my helm with? Am I getting max zeal?

Also, should I really aim for Sanctuary as a shield or will my HoZ work fine?
I don't really like to up a HoZ which has so low ed....

Which belt should I choose?

1. Use Thudergod's. Close to lightning immunity rocks, trust me.

2. Socket your Guillaume's with an Um - you need all resists you can get.

3. HoZ is fine - just socket it with a PDiamond (cheaper alternative).

4. Do not up HoZ - Grief adds bucketloads of damage, you don't really need the additional 20-30 smite damage in addition to the 344 you already have. And the huge str reqs are not worth it.

5. With a Grief Phaseblade, you need level 4 Fanaticism or something to reach max Zeal and Smite breakpoints. Do not bother with extra IAS.

Nah, you'll be fine, so long as you've got a source of life tap (draculs/life tap wand) and you proc fade using Treachery/use salvation/both depending on your resists.

And yeah, go with tgods. You may want to swap out hoz for exile, if you've got the wealth to, saves using a life tap wand/waiting for dracs to proc it.

Amu: Saracen's chance
DROP THAT AMULET NOW!!!

I don't care what you use to replace it, even a nokozan or a magic amulet, but just replace it with something that does not have CtC curse. Unless you want to die so bad, do it. IM overrides life tap, and suddenly losing life tap inside uber trist is not funny at all.

I'm not yet running UT, but I'm using it for lvl-ing. :)

Thanks for the explanation about curses though.

Depends entirely on what gear you're using. You only want enough dex to hit max block for smiters, so figure out what you're going to wear and go from there.

Ok thanks, and how can I know if I have max block? Isn't it different depending on the monster?

No, you're thinking of defence, which is different. Same place to check on the LCS, though - hover the mouse pointer over "defense".

There's a max block calculator around here somewhere, I don't have the url saved but I'm sure someone else can post it. I think most people just rush to a high level and then add their stats as necessary (remember that max block requirements increase alongside your level, so if you're at lvl 80 and have 75% block don't assume you can just forget about dex). I use calculators, but they're kind of a hassle, and especially for a build like this one a few stray points really aren't an issue at all.

Thanks for your input sir.. and if someone could post the max block calculator that would be nice, thanks.

Well, I think my fanazealsmiter is coming along nicely.

I've gathered all the gear I really needed/wanted, here he is:

I made a nice animated GIF hovering over each of my items so you can see their stats.
In stash I have a Treachery AP for prebuff.

What do you think guys? Is this dude about ready to kick some meph azz?
Now that sacrifice/zeal/fanaticism/holy shield are all maxed, 1 point is spent in sanctuary/resist fire/resist light/resist cold/vigor etc... what should I do?

Defiance?

Your gear is fine, although you may find that lifetap doesn't proc quickly enough at first. Your choices are a lifetap wand or exile runeword shield. Aside from that you're probably short of resists for mephi, so you'll want salvation aura/treachery prebuff, or most likely both.

Nice .gif, by the way, very professional ;)
