The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

Also, it is pretty irritating to leave them behind, since they will help with draining your life. This is why I usually leave Baal for last - since his minions are PI and drain my mana like crazy at the same time (Wraiths).

Hey guys I'm new to uber trist running and I've decided to go with this build for my first try. I guess I'll just throw an enigma on this zealot for key running, but what weapon/shield/armor should I use? I ask this because I know this guide was written awhile back and I don't really see paladins using some of this stuff. Thanks.

The first post is still pretty accurate gearwise..i.e. for the rich CB build, I'm using exactly as he has listed except for the ammy and shield (I use maras + hoz/exile). Basically any build with sufficient lifetap + cb + grief will do fine.

Quick question here.

I found a rare ring with the following stats:

7% life leech
5 to strenght
5 to energy
7% resist all
9% to a specific element, the one that's always listed last, poison?

Would it be any good for my yet to be built smiter?

that ring isnt bad, but you'd have a better time subbing it with something cool like a wisp projector, which will greatly help you out against meph.. if you dont have a raven... get a raven! asap! nothin will give you more grief (a pun i say!) then smiting like a snail because u got frozenedededed

Or cham another item, depending on your funds. I put a cham in Guillaume's. Cham's are pretty worthless on NL, mind.

That rare ring isn't bad, but as copilot intimated the life leech won't work with smite. It will work with zeal.

use it!!! it can save *** waiting for life tap, you can switch to zeal real quick and pump up your life

i dont know about u, but i think switching to zeal would be instant KO.. can u even leech of boss'? im pretty sure u cant.. maybe im wrong... its easier to just pump full juv's till lifetap kicks in... you only need to use 2 or 3

You can't leech of Meph, that's for sure, but I think you can leech off Dia/Baal/Lilith/Izu/Duri.

I find a Life Tap wand to be pretty safe to use. I find the boss, then I run backwards a bit, switch, cast life tap, switch again and procede to smite. Very effective, and I have not died once using this tactic.

I am luvin this build, its my all time fav char - Thanks!

Quick question, I just found a 40% ed jewel, does enhanced dam do much for this build or would it lend itself better to a frenzy barb/wind druid/bowazon better? I have this char pretty decked out and for weapon using Grief PB.

While I am asking questions I also have a Metalgrid ammy i am wondering about, i was thinking frenzy barb on this one since it adds so much AR?

Thanks again for build it's been fun!

Metalgrid is great for your barb, and save the ED% jewels for something else. Grief PB = instant smite damage. You really don't need anything else. I'd only use the Metalgrid for a smiter if I needed resists and Mara's doesn't suffice.

Well, Metalgrid is also the budget version of Mara's - the latter does not provide any serious advantages over the former, after all. The +skills are close to worthless on a pure physical build, the 5 to all stats is really negligible. At the same time, I found the defense bonus on Metalgrid a pretty welcome addition (With HS it jumps pretty high).

First, love this build, have run Uber Trist twice along with a friend's newly build Hammerdin and it's a total piece of cake. My build is Grief pb, Guardian Angel, Guillaume's, Dracul's, Gores, Um'd HoZ, Mara's, Ravenfrost, Rare ring with res & LL, and Thundergods. With a few charms, I've got 90 res on everything and 95 on light. Seriously, Uber Trist is just an easy walk.

Anyway, I've got two questions:

1) Really the only way I die is when Oblivion Knights cast Iron Maiden and I'm in the midst of zeal. On the next hit of an enemy, I die instantly, even with base life of 1650 or so (my BO only takes it to 2900 or so). Is there anything I can do to avoid this without constantly watching for IM?

2) I've got 12 unallocated skill points at level 90 and I'd rather not pump defiance beyond the 1 hard point already. I was thinking that cleansing and possibly redemption might be worth putting a point into (as well pre-reqs). Cleansing would be great against those stupid Ob Knights and Redemption would cut down on the potions used (although my pal isn't a potion lush by any means). Is this a mistake or are there any other [better] suggestions?

Thanks everyone and again, great build!

Cleansing and redemption is great. Some people even put a point in sanctuary.

As for knights......, try for a gimmershred or similar ranged weapon. That's about all that I can say. (other than constantly watching out for IM)
