The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

Those viper things can kill you if your moving when they strike... When they use that poison spear, stop moving, and you won't take the extra damage that will kill you... Move after the cloud vanishes, or move away from it, and charge them from another angle... Just avoid the cloud...

In fact, when I run for D keys with my 1pt. Smiter, I charge the whole way, and avoid killing what I don't have to kill, so I nearly avoid all PI's... But, then I discovered that my summon necro can do all 3 key runs in half the time it took my other key running characters... ^_^ No problems with anything, and if I felt froggy that day, I could take the ubers out with said summoner too! But, that required a bit more work, and is another story all together...

1pt. Smiter still takes them down faster, and with less effort... You should try him in a full cow game too! lol

I guess what got me is not knowing what was there. What type of monsters I would be facing in nith's area. Now I skim the walls and yes, I avoid the PI's to go directly for nith. I looked in my sorc inventory and had a nature's peace ring. I don't recall ever looting that. My paladin blows through nith now since no worry on corpse explosion. I do try to listen for that snake sound and run like a mother to avoid them if possible.

So I use my paladin for nith and my sorc for running arcane and countess. I forgot how many runes it can drop at a time so had to open more inventory.

On a good note, found a gheed's charm and 13 resist 9min damage gc from running nithlak so far. This is what I like most about the game finding my own stuff and using it. Been thinking about making a necro next so I'm curious how your build is ReguiemDeath. Something about a army terrorizing the coutry side has appear to it.

I went after lilith this morning and game froze up 3 times on me. I stopped immediately and game returned to normal a few seconds later so that is how I will handle it now. Got diablo's horn now. Back to key farming later today.

Its the best summoner guild you will find.

A wind druid is also a good choice for nihl.

Seraph changed to Highlords, lvl 84 life ~1300 (still low i guess, but i still have just few charms.. :) ) my aim now is Duress.

Another question.
Now i have 2-2.6 k zeal dmg, and ~1.2 k smite dmg...
is the smite dmg very poor ? and will duress armor make this build noticeably better ?

im realy glad to see that this discussion is so active, if i get richer i will improove it but atm i need to get runes for Duress.

Sorry for the outburst, but I just finished Uber Tristram a few minutes ago :):):)

That was with my only wealthy char, in Hardcore !! So,as you can guess, it was very exciting, especially after all the work getting items and keys from scratch (restarted playing a few weeks ago), with the risk of losing everything :D Plus it was my first time ! (but they were gentle :D)

First of all, many many thanks for this great guide, which gave me the idea to build a 1pt smiter and do some Uber-Pwnage. I must say that from all the build I did over the years, it's one of my favourite, if not the best... You can run about everything as long as there is no IM and you are careful with some tricky boss pack. it's really awesome.

For anyone interested I had:

- Um'ed Guillaume
- Um'ed Guardian Angel (highly recommanded IMHO)
- Um'ed Upp'ed Zakarum
- Heaven's Light (with 2 jewel 15 IAS and some FR & LR)
- Dracul's
- Natalya's boots
- Ravenfrost
- Dwarfstar
- ThunderGods
- 30 res all magic amu

on switch:
- life tap wand
- ~115 res shield (PDiamonded)

I used treachery for Fade, and BO (build a barb with my other account just for that :D). Since I wanted to have 90 in all res I kept Highlord's and GoreRider in my stash.

It was surprisingly easy in Uber Tristram, I used this strat, which I highly recommand :

And it was done very, very quickly, in one go. In all honesty, I found the cleansing of the Matron's Den & Lilith harder...

Seems good from the stats but it's for a druid, so i've no idea what it worth... any idea ? :D

That's awesome you completed uberr tristram in hard core even. I'm close to mine. Just need a few more organs and will attempt.

In the meantime, have a few more questions I could use advice on. Been running countess tonight to get a total of 5 keys and a few goodies have dropped for me. Dwarf Star, Baranar's devil star, Phase blade (white), gimmershred.

I socketed the phase blade and got 3 sockets so decided to make a lawbringer. Now the question is between the baranar, gimmershred, lawbringer which is considered the best on physical immunes.??? The lawbringer has decrepify which if I read right my dracul's lifetap will overwrite this -- this correct?? and I believe the aura (sanctuary) does damage to undead. Has slain rest in peace but I have a peace ring. The baranar will boost my zeal atk rating by 2200 which will allow me to hit and apply the elemental damage with. Then the elemental base damage of the gimmershred is impressive.

For those that have spent alot of time with these weapons, what is your opinion??

Yes, dracs will override decrepify, and vice-versa. Sanctuary aura, because of poor coding, allows you to ignore the resist of undead if you hit them.
 
@Blewstar, concerning PI:

Personnaly I'm very happy with my Shael'd Reaper's Toll Merc. The drawback is that it overrides Life Tap which, for a long time, it made we want to switch to Obedience or Eth BoneHew... But ! Decrep removes 99% of Physical Immunities I encounter (especially useful if you run Hate Keys), and doesn't require any weapon or aura switching. It boosts your damage, and gives a lot of safety in HC.
Add a Tal Mask or Gaze for leech and you have an awesome tank (especially with Defiance) and damage dealer (especially with Might).

I didn't try, but a Passion Runeword could be of some help thanks to Berserk. Anyone tried ?

That's weird, almost from release, I always saw most people greatly overlooking GA. Personnaly, IN HARDCORE, it's my favourite pally armour. Think about it: and Um'ed one automatically bring your res to a sexy 90/90/90/90 (95 LR with TG), you get a +1 skills which is always nice, plus an increase in block which helps you put more points in vitality (I've about 1500-1600 life unbuffed).
And it's friggin CHEAP !

GA + tri-absorb makes you almost immuned to anything elemental (hint: what kind of damage do you take in Uber-Tristram ?), which is nothing short of awesome in HC.
Getting to 90 res is not as hard as you may think with a good pally shield, and a few UM and charms. And for Uber-Meph you have Fade + Salvation.
If you play HC, give it a try, and you may change your mind ;)


edit: For Lilith, I recommand this uber-cheap items:

Iratha's Collar
Amulet
Poison Length Reduced by 75%
+30% Poison Resist

and/or possibly this one I found but never tried:

The Jade Tan Do
Kris
Required Level: 19
Required Dexterity: 45
Base Weapon Speed: [-20]
+100-150 to Attack Rating(varies)
+180 Poison Damage Over 4 Seconds
Poison Resist +95%
+20% To Maximum Poison Resist

wel, i can get a duress...um is not so expensive, so now im confused...whether to get duress or tu pt 1 um in guardian angel as i just finished hell socket quest ...
what shall i do

edit: lol, i ave that kriss :p

i need an advice, i just got um, so i cant figure out what to do - make duress or just put it in Guardian angel :( pls give some opinions, my gear is mentioned a couple of pages ago )

and which armor is the best for making Duress ?

Duress is a good armour, but it depend on how much CB you already have. personnally with HL + Guillaume (+ GoreRider), more CB is overkill, so I went for safety and Um'ed a GA. If upping your res is not a big problem (shouldn't be with pally shields), then you just can't go wrong with GA ; especially in hardcore.



 
i have ~85 CB is, is that ok for my setup ?
ok...i decided to leave my GA and now its um'ed now alli got to do is to trade some crap to get 1 more um into guillames face and some charms, cuz i realy have just a few and then ill be ready :)


one important question--

IM.... how to avoid getting killed due to this curse by izual ?!

Personally, I let my merc kill the OKs, and it worked well. You can try to lure them (or Izual) directly to you. The map is quite simple, not like Matron's Den, so you can retreat and take them one by one.

your merc is gonna get IM'd and then get completely tooled...

best way is to get a lifetap wand, cast it on the big group (including izzy) and target the OK's right away once they dead then worry bout izzy

you should be able to kill them before you get IM'd... but if not, make sure u have a tp set up before hand so u can go bak and get ure xp



 
Not if he has an A1 merc. :wink3: An A1 merc may not actually be a bad idea for an uber-smiter, since IM is probably going to be your biggest problem anyways.

Although I do have trouble with those witches Lilith hangs with.

Passion passion passion... Just don't run into a pack and expect to survive like you normally would with zeal... You won't have the ability to leach life, or use life tap, or hit every target around you... One at a time, one at a time, pot when you need it, and move slowly...

Also, I always use an Act 1 merc... Put a Windforce on her, and you're good to go... Just ditch her before going into Uber Trist...
