I have been running trav a lot more lately as I finally respec'ed to WW, and have really been enjoying WW. I also use a technique for someone without tele that I don't think anyone mentioned anywhere. I just get a map with them all in the upper room, like you would want if you had tele. Just run to the durance stairs pop down and back up, this will get the merc in the right position right away and not slow you down more than a second or two.

When you are WWing do you usually just hold down the RMB and just mouse around in short paths? I'm a little new to WW and not sure if that is the best method.

I use the stairs trick too (until a Jah drop :)). "My" council however spaws at the entry to the temple and left of the entry (still inside the temple). I simple whirl through them to the stairs and thus creating a stair-"trap" when merc and me resurface from the durance. This ensures an immediate decrep.

I do the tap-dance when whirling, short whirls, click rmb after each whirl for a new whirl.

I think I've read here that their spawn position is path-dependant, but I'm not sure whether it was confirmed.

Like I said above, every time you start a new whirl the first hit is only done with the primary weap so short whirls like that will really gimp your damage. It's worth it drawing your whirls out a bit (while staying in range obviously).

I prefer shift-LMB since you've got a bit more control. RMB for every other attack though.

I can confirm based on 1K+ runs and explicit testing on several maps that the council spawn location is indeed path dependent. It may be loose, i.e. only 80-90% controllable, because I think other spawns can gum up your pathing efforts, but it's absolutely controllable.

Good point re: short whirls. Assuming two identical weapons (though you should have the hurtier stick in your main) a 2 second whirlwind can have 23 hit checks (11.5 / second) and a half second whirlwind can have 5 hit checks (10 / second). Obviously in practice it's a little hairy, but if you manage to launch 4 or 8 frame whirlwinds, you'll gimp your damage a little compared to anything north of 12.

If I understand WW, which I may not (and google searches bring up lots of old patch info, broken links, confusion, baseless speculation, and giving up - so I may be off. Arreat summit has a great but sadly incomplete description of how the skill works while dual wielding).

What should I be shooting for in terms of stat points? I'll need enough dex for my grief PB. Aside from that I imagine it's enough vit to operate safely and the rest in str/dex for damage and AR? How much life should I be aiming for?

That seems basically it. Fabian did a lot of maths for whether dex(AR) or STR (Damage) was better for him, but thats pretty intense min/maxing. I just went for dex enough for my pb with some incidental dex from an occasional charm, the rest went in strength.

As for what everyone has their post BO life at id be interested. Iv got mine at ~2500 but i think i could go lower fairly safely.

I got a level up and was going to add to Find Item but the game displayed no increase in Hork %age for adding a skill point. Am I missing something?

In terms of sifting through items: after the Council is dead, I now immediately hork, then just run around looking for orange tags. Is this desireable? Previously I would carefully look thru stuff but am piling up the secs when I do that.Will I miss runes if I dont pick stuff up?

At slvl 29, Hork is 55% (if it can go higher than that, it's not practical, and that might be the max). For most of the percentages between 50 and 55, it takes 2-3 points in the skill to increase chance to find by even 1%. Kind of annoying, but worth it in the long run - especially since it's not like there are many other points screaming out for investment on a trav barb.

My 2 cents: I dropped my post BO life down to around 1500 and it is plenty (clvl 92).

Back on the merc, helvete recommended a Vex rune in helm/armor for the extra max fire res. I love it! My new set up is 70res Kira Vex'd, Treachery, Reapers w/ 30fire res+7fhr jool. I would like a Ruby Jewel of Fervor here(fire res) but this was the best I had.

That results in 80 fire res under conviction and awesome ias for decreps. He doesn't die anymore at all. Not once since I switched... The jump from 75 fire res to 80 is a world of difference for him.

How high do I need to get my AR/chance to hit up to? Should I do it with charms or hard dex points? I already have a good amount of dex to equip my grief PB. I think this has been discussed but I don't remember the details.. =/

First, the 'lying character screen' does display accurate information for chance to fit, as far as I know. So you can use the game to see how dex helps. If you have a grief PB equipped I doubt you would need too much more. I've been happy at around 80% chance to hit.

Keep in mind:

(1) Grief has ITD, which means against the non-boss council members your chance to hit will be very high

(2) Grief has -25% targets defense, which means that against the bosses it will be -12.5% but still mean your chance to hit is higher than listed.

I was very happy around a listed chance to hit of 80% - which I estimated as over 90% for non-bosses and probably 85%? Or so against the bosses.

Level is important in the calculations, so when in doubt gain some more levels :D

In a similar discussion in another thread, recently, displayed CtH did not seem to be right. Use the AR Defense and levels of the monsters to calculate it if you feel like it. Take into account that Defense for the 2 of the 3 unique monsters is twice higher.

Well, afaik (and as hinted by angeldesignpro) it calculates cth correctly from attacker/defender level and AR/defense but doesn't take ITD, -defense, -%defense or -%enhanced-defense into account.

I can confirm that as long as the LCS is giving me my proper attack rating, it is calculating the proper CtH but not using ITD or -targets def, at least for monsters encountered in hell baal runs.
