After several years in the making and several breaks into various versions Leila completes my 1st 99 in any Version of D2 and it happens in version 1.07
I started Leila in 2019 and I commented in 2020 in my D2 goals post the D2 2020 goals thread
The build and process is a twinked single player Cold Sorc without rack running for uniques.. She leveled at a SP character , my second 1.07 character as a sister for Orbtress.

Gameplay
My moviation for playing is really involves leveling characters. I find hours of racking running boring and frustrating
I decided to make use of magic items and not do a lot of rack running for high end uniques which results in lots of checking for goodies.
Very early game I got 11 in SF and kept using the 1 pt cold skills up to char lvl 30 with whatever orbs had those skills. GS was my favourite. I used a +51 Mana Mask and BP at lvl 5 and a 3 P Sapp mask and Lvl 18 to help with early mana with a Fire Rogue Merc with 3 chipped rubies. Then switched to the Normal A2 Combat Merc in A2.

The first job was to try to make the Merc sturdy. The merc was regularly getting stomped but once I had a nice pole arm he could do some damage. Also really wanted a healing aura for early gameplay so that meant a Normal Combat Merc. Initially he died often. However, with advice and experimentation and some items with decent resists I was able to get the Merc through normal
Resists and damage avoidance is the best gear for any Merc with them not able to leech.

Then in NM he died again until he had a

His survival increased significantly with the ViperMagi twinked from another Sorc NM he survived more often than not through NM and early Hell. Once he had access to the GT he was an effective killer. He still got damaged from MSLE while in the 70s but as he levelled to mid 80s he became sturdy because the resists approached 75 Res@ and the MDR started to really take effect. In 1.07 MDR is applied after resists not before. I moved the Gface on him for kill speed. Telestomping become possible with weaker monsters. I gave the merc the "Kaa" test. If the Merc can survive Ancient Kaa the Soulless in situations then he was sturdy enough in most situations.

In general A2 Mercs are viable but inferior to Barbs for survivability because of the equipment available to make the Mercs decent and the A5 Merc's higher life and regeneration. But the damage for pole arms is good with jab and the aura, both thorns or prayer is useful.

Once I got Orb then gameplay is standard I maxed Orb and used it exclusively in NM with some pts in CM. In hell she build out CM , and Blizzard then Warmth. The end build uses Orb for ranged monsters and Blizzard for aggressive melee based monsters at close range and large monsters. Both are effective in their situation and with CM piercing work in most situations. Eventually I got around to rolling a 1.07 MPK ring whcis helps a lot with mana

in late game level in Act 5 NM until 78, a long time before starting Hell to stay within the area levels which is needed when on p1 the whole time
I used the Act 2 False tombs to level 84 before switch to Act 5 Hell

LR wand speeds up SF killing against MR and teleporting enemies where putting the boss into hit recovery helped stopped them healing and moving around. Having the merc means an effective source of physical damage making it possible to run Eldritch and Shenk without aborting runs with 3 types of damage with the icing being LR. Eventually the A5 Hell runs revealed other uniques monsters in the Frigid Highlands run path which I incorporated into the runs. The map also provided between 4 to 6 shrines per run . 3 in the Black Marsh and 1 to 3 in the Bloody Foothills. XP and Gem shrines were frequent so levelling and perfect gems flowed. That with that popables were profitable over the journey

The build for Act 5 was focused on MF so I used only Trangs for FCR, +1 Sorc orb and a magic socketed shield with 3 Diam for resists. Later I incorprateed the SoE . I kept a MPK ring and MF in other slots

Solo play leveling late game is faster in 1.07 because leveling penalties were lower but slower for early game because of players count restriction. Not sure how that balances out. I think 1.07 99 is faster

Also I hoped to get charms, both good charms and cubable bases for muling, gems and ingredients for crafts. Found some very nice charms and useful items. Crafting was a cornerstone of the build. The good ones were listed and some of the nearlys. Also looked nice items on ammys, rings, weapons and some armors and circlets

Crafts
I had some nice crafts because the game did drop some ingredients to keep. Typically I target
Safety Weapon Sorc Orbs - I rerolled the same orb until it gave me something I thought useful whether it was FCR and something useful, + Sorc skills or high elemental damage
Lesser Blood and initially Caster gloves. Blood looking CB, IAS and LL and Caster gloves looking for Javazon gloves
Lesser Blood boots FRW, Resists, FHR and MF
If the runes dropped I also rolled Greater Blood and Safety weapons , mostly Colossus Blades and some Ammys and Rings
All the good were posted to the IFT

Future
Well the unspent stats are in hope for Ark Valor, a +2 Sorc 20 FCR circlet and a nice Blood ammy. Really want those items to round out the build. In addition a Skullders, Tals armor and Shako for MF.
She will be

1) Exploring Nilly's Halls for decent racks for Tals Armor initially
2) Expanding racking in Upper Kurust for Tals Armor initially. She has no Lacquered Plate racks currently
3) Running for uniques at Duriel or
4) Rushing others once this map options are exhausted

I'd suggest adding Mav's set belt to your list of items sought: 10-15%ManaLeech and 40FRW can be very tasty ...and with no diminishing returns on FRW in 1.07, it can really help make up for the lack of teleport on your non-sorcs.

If you have any interest in a bowazon, a 1.07 MultiShot Zon is very fun & effective (/obligatory plug :p)

Thanks @WoRG . The original target was Lvl 97 for crafting. I decided that keeping pushing because the map was really good. I was relieved to finish because the ancients spawn was ok. So were the Baal waves.

I have one Mav's belt in the stash ready for use. Early game I used the Death's Guard for CNBF with no access to WW and am still using it. I do not have the gloves otherwise I would use those also. I will need to regear shortly.

The hat is +2 Barb, +3 nat res and +1 leap attack. Nothing exciting .

Using this to plug resists and increase skills during mid game. The green Hulk look is good. I really like the red hat look on the Barb. Looks more terrifying. It would match the Bloodletter as well.

I will eventually get around to a bowie . I have played plenty of them in 1.10 and later patches. At least I have Skystrike for mid game. I would like to get Death's gloves and CK boots for early game. I have Flawed Ruby and Perfect Ruby hunters bows for early game.
 
I also really like the red hat look, fortunately suffix coloration overrides prefix, so a Berserker's of the Mammoth/Gargantuan/Squid/Whale will be red instead of green...

Blade of Ali Baba is an excellent off-hand weapon for 1.07 whirler, and is also vivid red :D

Also, don't overlook poison bows... a poison prefix&suffix bow that gets 4sox from Larzuk filled with pEmeralds stacks up some serious poison damage!!

Ultimately I think he will use GFace at high lvl. I am looking to +2 Barb of life helms , I would like a +5 WCry, +5 BO helm and a separate +6 BO helm

Good idea with the Ali Baba. The Ali Baba may be an offhand switch horking weapon eventually so i may need two of these.

I do check many of the blues for useful weapns. I like weapons with same elemental damage type on the prefix and suffix, or high elemental damage of attack speed. I check bows, axes, swords , claws and daggers for these.

I do check other weapons as well for other stats for potential for other projects in 1.07 or play prior to 1.10 final where the super runewords where invented.
