Technical Q regarding battle.net downloads

Ok, so I have both D2 and LoD completley installed on my computer, but my LoD disc is broken. I just realized that I can download the game from battle.net with my CD key. However, I don't want to download the entire game, just a launcher so that I can play without a disc, how does one go about doing this?

The latest patch (1.12a) requires no cd. Simply patch up either through connecting to BNet or downloading it from the blizzard site.

I think he might have trouble connecting to bnet without a disc to startup.

scottasin: you'll also need to copy the mpq files from the expansion disc in order for 1.12 to run with no disc. So, I think you're just going to have to download the whole thing from blizz.

I have updated to 1.12a, but still when I try to start the game it says 'insert expansion disc'

Right, the newest patch still requires files to be copied from the expansion disc. So, that won't work for you.

Ahhh... I forgot about that .

Just download/reinstall. The download takes a bit, but the install takes under 5 minutes, and you won't need your disc.
