Summon Skeleton, Oblivion Knight, Diablo and Area Level

1. Concerning the Raise Skeleton, I've observed that if I kill the monsters in Blood Moor and make them fight against the monsters in the Chaos Sanctuary, they tend to last a lot less than if I use Raise Skeleton on the monsters in the Sanctuary.
Is it just me or does the strength of the monster also affect the strength of the skeleton?

2. I can't revive Oblivion Knight but I can use Raise Skeleton on it. Bug?
Also, can I revive a Super Unique to my side?

3. Diablo is Lvl. 40 but the area level of Chaos Sanctuary is 28. Kinda odd, isn't it?
Edit: I'm still Lvl. 35 and here are my skill tree, stats, and equipment:
[Here's the plan: I'm gonna fight Diablo once I get to 42/43, maybe more, since I'm always playing with /players 8.]

1. No. Only depends on your skills and equipment. Auras/skills etc.

2. You cant revive a corpse if its a superunique. But I think you can raise a skeleton from its corpse.
Im not sure really.

3. Getting to lvl 35+ in the CS. Will be very very tedious.
I usually kill diablo when Im around lvl 30.

Its not weird at all that his mlvl is higher than the alvl. Bosses needs to be harder than regular monsters.

And alvl is not necessarily equal to mlvl in normal. There are monsters in the normal CS that doesnt have an mlvl of 26 for an instance.

Use decrepify and clay golem. And diablo is an easy kill.

But Oblivion Knights are just regular monsters.

I'm always using /player8. :P

Yeah, but usually, the boss in that area is usually around +5 of the alvl. Not +12, geez, that's a huge jump.

hell nihlathak is level 95 in alvl 84 iirc.

I think the difference in normal is even larger, since iirc he's lvl 68 or so and the area level can't be that high

Okay... so I have a hard time with a Super Unique Monster. Iirc, I fought Lord de Seis before and he was nothing. I had a lower level (34, I think) and now, I'm facing Infector of Souls and I'm nothing ti it. They're both Lvl 33., and I am 36, halfway through 37 and still playing with /players8. Any tips?

Did u read this guide already?
http://www.purediablo.com/forums/showthread.php?349093-Fishymancer-Version-2-1
If I have 40 skillpoints to spend on a summon necro I would have 5 in Skeleton Mastery and 20 in Raise Skeleton.
That's 239 life 59-61 dmg vs 129 life 20-21dmg (7SM/8RS)

Try to shop some 3SM/3RS wand with a lvl1 char and trasfer it to your necro (or 3/2, 2/3, etc if u don't have the patience;))

Also If u plan to level in Act4 u won't get much XP anymore behond a certain lvl:
http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Guide:Diablo_2_Level_Up_Guide_v1.10

You should be able to shop one of those with your current char, too. Just go to akara and buy them from her for best chances

Can a magic shield have 4 sockets?

Only a Monarch/Aegis/Ward (Monarch being the only one ever used, due to lower requirements), with the jeweler's affix (ie. a jeweler's monarch; possibly with a second affix such as ...of blocking or similar).
They're a rare occurence though, and the extremely rare occurence of Jeweler's Monarch of Deflecting (also known as JMoD) is among the most valuable items, that you can find in the game. As a necromancer, you will do much better with either a shrunken head (possible staffmods) or a bone shield (or Grim Shield/Troll Nest) with Splendor or Rhyme runeword in it, or Homunculus unique shrunken head or Trang Oul's shield.

#EDIT: For max blocking go for Rhyme in a shrunken head/Bone/Grim/Troll or Homunculus. For skills go for Splendor in Shrunken head or Homunculus. For poison there's no substitute for Trang Oul.
#EDIT2: No shrunken head can get more than 2 sockets, but they're all able to get 2.

Mother of Diablo! I just opened the five seals for the first time and got to the area where Diablo is in.
1. He cast Fire Nova (the one with a circle of fire, correct me if I'm wrong) twice. His first Fire Nova instantly killed my Skeletal Mages.
2. I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE HIM! As I got close he cast Pink Lightning (the skill where he shoots a blast of slow lightning, like a Storm Caster's) on me so I decided (and screamed, lol), "I'm not ready, nope. I'm not ready."

I'm level 38 I already have one point on Summon Resist. As usual, /players8 stays. I have allocated points to RS and SM on my leveling ups. Any more tips?
Here's what I got so far:
a. Get a wand/wep with 3RS/3SM, 2/3 or 3/2. //Still looking for a wand. I've searched in Acts I to IV for wands in the Gamble section but found none but still looking. Is it possible that they don't gamble wands?
b. Use Decrepify and summon a Clay Golem. //Doesn't work yet bc I can't go near.

No rush here, I just need some way to defeat (get near, without getting squished like an ant) Diablo.

On the bright side, I finally defeated Infector of Souls, Lord de Seis, and Grand Vizier of Chaos in one run. I got 2 rare Brandistocks from IoS and the Arctic Horn from LdS. Is there a way to craft using a set item?

Haha! Its so wonderful to hear you write that. Its so nice to know there are still new players trying to learn the game!
I remember my first diablo encounter! My lvl 28 barb took ~30 min to kill that demon! ;)

1. Lvl 38 is more than enough to kill diablo. I did it with my hardcore necro around lvl 31 iirc. Using merc/skeletons/decrep/claygolem. ( he was non twinked!!)
He will be a breeze once you have decrep on him.

Just keep spamming the clay golem beside him. And run around diablo at a range, to not get hit by his red lightning.

2. Buy a nice wand at drognans in act2. You cant gamble wands.

3. You cant use set items in cube recipes afaik.

I never liked Skeletal Mages, they just die 2 quickly. All my summoners I only put one hard point in them to get to revive.

If I play online solo @ lvl 26-27, Diablo most of the time kills all my skeletons halfway during the fight, even if I do the decrep + clay golem trick. So I head back to cold plains, get fresh skeletons and continue the fight. With Players 8 u might end up doing this many times before big D dies.

Not sure u know: but if u buy wands u can refresh the wands offered by the NPC's by taking a waypoint into another region and porting back to town. Might take dozens of trips to get a good one. A + summoning skills wand from Drogan is also an option, think u can even find a + skill (this also improves your Summon resist and gives more revives so @ players 8 this is perhaps the better option)

U tried to take some Urdar's along in your fight?

As a final thought, let me quote Nightfish:
Q: I get pwnd by normal Diablo! What gives?

A: Here are some thoughts that might help you:

1: Follow the skill progression. Roughly 2/3 of all people that asked this question just put their points in random skills and then wonder why it doesn't work. Max RS first, SM after that and put points only into skills you need right now. That means that on the curses tree you get only decrep and the prereqs of it before fighting diablo. Everything else should be spent on your skellies.

2: Use your skills. About 1/3 of all people that asked this question didn't use their skills properly. First, cast decrepify on diablo (and refresh the curse as needed). Have your clay golem out to slow him down further. Recast it as soon as it goes down. 90% of the time diablo will focus on this guy (no idea why, he just does) If one of your skellies goes down, recast it immediately. There should be plenty of bodies around, usually.

3: It is possible to bring down normal diablo on players 8, I have repeatedly done that in HC untwinked. But if you find that you followed step 1 and 2 and still have problems you can lower the player settings to 1.

I would use the reset skill from Akara if u keep having issues. Get only corpse explosion, decrep, summon resist, revive and rest in first RS, then SM.

U tried to take some Urdar's along in your fight?
Yup, well not for very long. The 3 min. limit was up but i was thinking of that.

I would use the reset skill from Akara if u keep having issues. Get only corpse explosion, decrep, summon resist, revive and rest in first RS, then SM.
Woah. A respec? I didn't get one. Maybe bc I updated the patch when I was in Act II iirc.

Silly mistake of mine: I left Diablo out too long, forgot to Decrepify, and forgot that he's a boss WOOHOO, of course he killed me. Trying again...

So... I decided to /p1 this time and boy, those monsters don't take a lot to kill. But IoS and his minions are still a bit menace. Although I don't have that much trouble, his minions walk like they have an "Extra Fast" attribute to them.

OH GOD, YES I HAVE DEFEATED DIABLO. Though it wasn't as exciting as it would've if it were /p8, it's still quite a nice feeling. Esp. when you get a handful of rares and a unique. WHEW that was some work. I have to admit, Duriel was a little worse. I had to resummon a couple more times than I did with Diablo.

A great build for a summoner necro is the Fishymancer. With decent gear (especially Arm of King Leoric and Homunculus), you can solo Hell difficulty with 8 players with your eyes closed. It only might take a while because you have to wait until your skeletons kill the monsters :D But they rarely die, unless you encounter very strong monsters, such as the Death Lords in act V, with mods like curse+fanaticism aura, or the Tomb Vipers in the Halls of Vaught.
