Summon/bone vs Fishymancer

Currently I have a level 25 untwinked summonmancer, max skellies already and a few points in SM and all these pre-reqs. I was wondering should I go with bone spear, to hit multiple enemies at the beginning of the battle to speed things up, or should I just stick with CE and wait for 1 thing to die (on players 6 which takes a little while) and explode it.

I have okay gear, I've had stealth on for a while, and a rhyme shield waiting for me at 29, a +1 to BG and all necro skills wand, those are the notable things.

My merc has a malice scythe, and a 1 socketed scale mail with a lot of + to life and defense and such with a jewel that increases damage by 10%.
Merc info is kinda irrelevant, but if it makes a difference...

Re: Summon/bone vs Fishymancer

I could be wrong, but at players 6 your bone spells won't be doing too hot either since you'll be missing 20+ hard points worth of synergies. I think you'd be better invested in going the poison route if you want skele's tanking for you as well.

Re: Summon/bone vs Fishymancer

In hell difficulty, a fishymancer relies on the merc to get the first kill, not skellies. In NM, make Honor in an exceptional polearm and in hell make Obedience in an elite polearm. Edit: Insight is also okay for NM.

Also, I don't think an unsynergized Bone Spear will do much of anything in Hell. Normal may go somewhat slowly, but I think you would regret going with BS once you got to hell. Edit: You could synergize Bonespear if you didn't put points in Skellie Mastery, but your skellies won't be quite as resilient, and you may not be able to continue with /p6 in hell.

Also, you may want to make a spirit sword as soon as you can. It will let you spam CE better with its mana boost and fcr.

Okay thx, good thing I haven't spent that point yet.

I got a 3 socket DS on my main, and I got ber and ith.. Should I leave the character untwinked (for honor purposes)or send that amazing stuff over in gomule and hope a jah drops?

Hold your breath while you're at it. ;)

If you find a Jah, then yeah, of course make enigma. It works wonders a fishymancer. In the meantime, stick a staff with teleport charges on your weapon switch. They can be shopped from vendors. I don't recall what level, but this page will give some info.

Re: Summon/bone vs Fishymancer

My build back in the day used to be 20 skeleton, 20 skele mastery, 20 mage, 1 revive, 1 clay golem, 1 golem mastery, 20 summon resistance, 1 amp damage, 20 corpse explode. You can put what I had left over after getting these spells in revives or clay golem or golem mastery.

Try to get an act 2 might merc with equip runewords for thorns (bramble) and conviction (infinity) and equip yourself with beast for fanaticism, enigma for + to skills and teleport, 9 +summons charms, chaos charm, torch, and all the plus to skill gear you can get. That is some pretty tough gear to get, but if you succeed, you are pretty much invincible.

First kill is not a big deal cause you have Nihlathak's portal in act v that leads right into a field of corpses. Just raise those and you are fine. If it is in any other act, then you should manage to kill easily with your infinitied merc. The game is a walk-through with this build/gear, and, until you get gear, the corpse explode will keep safe.

Also, that level 1-1 clay golem is your best friend when it comes to the Ubers, slowing them down at about 62%, and up to 68% if you put your extra points there. He has tons of life and his slow is not activated by hit; it is an aura that effects that target when he first swings. You can kill all the ubers except Mephisto, who is a bit tricky, in about 2 minutes.
