Stat head Help - Jewelers Phase Blade of Quickness

http://www.purediablo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=518731

That's a USEast Trade Thread where it appears most of entire wealth on USEast (heh) is being offered for a Jewelers Phase Blade of Quickness.

Lots of questions in the thread so I figured I'd throw it out here with a summary for some help.

1) What's the ilvl for a JPBoQ? This is what was in the thread:

Phase Blade, minimum item level requirement 54...
Jeweler's prefix, minimum item level requirement 55, only shows up on magic items...
Quickness suffix, minimum item level requirement 46...

So, the minimum magical phase blade level needs to be ilvl 55...

2) What's the best clvl/location combination odds to shop this PB at?

3) If you wanted to roll this PB what would be the odds? The creator of the thread stated that he rerolled a PB 1000 times (3k pgems) w/o success.

4) Is stat head one word or two? Or hyphenated? ;)

There's a gold rush happening - but most people don't know where the best place to hit it rich. Any help would be appreciated.

Regarding affixes, it depends on the affix level which is calculated from the ilvl and the base quality level of an item. I'm not sure if that has been taken into regard. I have to go to bed, so somebody else has to do the calculation. The formula is somewhere in this forum. :tongue:

Judging from that thread, people over on east doesn't know a lot about how the game spawns items.

"hey i found a crystal sword of quickness with 40% ias and no sockets, what do i do to see if larzuk will be nice to me, do i up it first, or can i socket it first?"
- Can't up magic items, and it's not possible to get 4 or even 3 sox from larzuk

"Phase Blade, minimum item level requirement 54...
Jeweler's prefix, minimum item level requirement 55, only shows up on magic items...
Quickness suffix, minimum item level requirement 46...

So, the minimum magical phase blade level needs to be ilvl 55..."
- Almost, but its alvl 55 which is quite different.

"I think ilvl= required level+~5.."
- not quite, that formula is "ilvl of item in shop (NM and hell only) = clvl +5"

Anyway...

Phase blades are Qlvl 73.

jeweler's is affix lvl 55.

Alvl = Ilvl - [qlvl/2]
55 = Ilvl - [73/2]
55 = Ilvl - 36
Ilvl = 91 for jeweler's to spawn on a phase blade

Which means a character must be lvl 86 or greater to see these spawn from vendors. It will not drop from anyone but baal, diablo or nilathak. Which means they are as rare as 41-45life skillers.

However, when qlvl > ilvl, alvl = qlvl

Using CHIPPED, NORMAL or FLAWLESS gems and reroll a PB should generate ilvl 25 or 30, thus alvl 73, thus enable JPBoQ.

May this info help our american friends.

So if I want to shop for a JPBoQ, I have to use a char thats > 86?

It certainly appears so. You will never see phase blades with jeweler's (crystal swords, yes, but not phase blades) in vendor's inventory unless you're

a - lvl 86+
b - in a game where a lvl 86+ spawned the vendors. Not very efficient for shopping, tho...

Certainly not. I figured the math was wrong with what I saw shopping with a lvl 91 char (plenty of PBs of Quickness - no Jewelers).

I know you didn't get into the odds (shopping vs. cubing) but it appears that the best bet is to get a baal/diablo/nih PB and to use the 3 pgem reroll to achieve the necessary mods.

Is there an actual way to compute the odds of a roll for something like this? I don't see anything in the FAQ or the incredibly comprehensive item generation thread. I assume the term 'astronomical' will be used at some point but an actual number might tell the roller how many pgems he should target.

A clvl 91 char should be able to see them. items he/she spawns will be of ilvl 96, which is quite enough. Also, the higher clvl, the higher chance to see elites in NPCs inventory.

Not sure about rolling odds, but I will look into it later.

assuming lvl 86..
2.456% are phase blades when shopping at that level, larzuk sells about 2 per roll? so about lets say 4.912% to see a phase blade
chance for jewellers of quickness when a phase appears = 1 in 66561
chance for jewellers of quickness ~ 1 in 1.36 million
(depending on how many of the swords you see per visit ofc)

edit: actual ilvl required for jewellers helvete its 77

inputilvl<99-int(qlvl/2) is false
so you use
alvl=2*ilvl-99
ilvl =77 for alvl 55
so can shop with a lvl 72 afaik

So...lets say I have 50 people (I probably have close to this all sites considered) searching...

lets say these 50 people average 25 trips a day to the vender (some do much more, most do less)

odds of finding it are 1.36 million to 1

but I get 1250 shots a day...so

statistically speaking I have 3 years until it's a possibility of 1 it's been found

god, I need to get a bot on this
