I took Kayla through the rest of A2 yesterday. I haven't played a melee charater this far EVER. So I was very anxious about going into Duriel's lair at players8, but went for it anyway.

The battle was predictable - very tough! I had 10 full rejuvs and 6 reds. The slug completely ignored my merc and went for my sorc 100% of the time. Even with 85%CR (gulped some yellows in advance) and "cannot be frozen" with The Spirit Shroud, Kayla was getting knocked around pretty good. I got into a routine where I'd enter, cast a TP, then engage. After going through all of the reds, and maybe a purple, I'd run back to town for more reds, then go again.

The going was slow, but consistent. There were a few NDEs, but I could see the end of the battle was near. Then little D got wise to my tactics, and he pinned me next to the wall where for some reason I couldn't escape, or tap the TP. But hey, there were 6 full rejuvs left... Well I used my very last potion right before the slug finally died!! VERY close.

After the battle, two things occurred to me. 1) Why didn't I use Teleport to get away from him? Answer: I've hardy used the skill at all in the game, and I never thought of it! 2) Why in god's name didn't I start the battle by using the wand with Static charges - it's sitting in my stash to "use against bosses". [note: I can't use Static normally, as it's a level 6 skill, and I can only use lvl 18 or 30.] No answer. I'm just stupid :bonk:

Well that some nice progress with your Enchantress AE.
Hope I can get that far with mine, but she is not that far yet.

But my Avenger took a real jump today and got through the entire two first acts.

No really problem got pinned though in a corner in Tal's Tomb once by some Ghosts, a boss Mummy and two of those big guys who was Champion so I took some beating in there. Can't use vengeance that much yet because of the big manacost.

Otherwise there wasn't any big problems, but there usually aren't any problems in the beginning.

Bachar-Yerian defeated the Ancients and has moved on to the WSK. This is my one nod to the FE bug and has been my standard approach - I fight the Ancients at /players 1 .. always. This time the trio came up with Fanat, LE and Tele. I shoulda stuck with /players 8. :lol:

On to the Keep and, hopefully, my second ever Conqueror. With the boosted skills, he now runs with 2.1k life and 3.5k def. All resistances are at max (currently 75%). Here's hoping for some nice end-game drops. :drool:

Curiosity question: Is King's Grace a runeword worth fitting? I can do that now or I can wait for the Io I need for Black. I've got a 3-soc Divine Sceptre waiting for whatever I do. Thanks.
 
Depending of what you are going to use them for I would say that black seems to be the best of those two. However I don't think that you can use a Scepter for the Black runeword. The runeword wizard V 1.3.3 says that Black can only be used for Clubs, Hammers and Maces but maybe my runeword wizard is out of date.

Hmmm. My notes say Club/Sceptre/Mace. I'll definitely have to look that up before I throw away the runes. I agree that RuneWord Wizard says Hammer. :(


On the bright side, I now have my second Conqueror. Bachar-Yerian defeated Baal in the most one-side fight I've ever seen. No pots used by either the barb or the merc. I hope I have another Baal fight like it someday. The Tan Do Li Ga doesn't do a lot of damage but the Slow Enemy is to die for. I may decide to have it on switch for Act Bosses in Hell.

The hard part was the minions, with Achmel and Ventar being the worst. Their life regeneration was not much below our rate of damage. Plus, Achmel and his cronies kept waking up the creepies we'd already killed. What a pain. We managed to get Lister's boys to attack one at a time so they were no problem at all.

Baal dropped mostly rubbish with a Razortail thrown in to keep everyone happy. :D

I played BonyBear a while today. He has reached lvl 21 and recovered the Horadric cube. I can't quite decide if it is worth some runs on Andy to see if I can get some stuff, or if I should just press forward and get to Meph where it will give me a better chance of something useful.

With this bonemacer I decided to use a clay golem for now. Can anyone give me golem advice? Is it worth putting more than 1 pt into clay golem, or getting other golems? The slow effect of the clay golem is great, but the iron golem would be a whole lot tougher.

My Blizz/Firewall sorc made a nice jump today and got all the way to act4.

Had some trouble with two places in act2 and it was when I should get the Ammy from the snakes. All the snakes was CI and the Skeletons were also CI.
The other place was Tal's Tomb, were the Mummies were CI and the Gorebellys were rather good at taking Fire Damage.

My blizzdamage is right now: 3250-3408
My Firewall is right now: 4537-4584 per second

And all playing have been done in hell on players5 and it's really fast killing things.
Got a nice Meph map so I think i will do some runs there.

Made it to lvl 28 and the flayer jungle with BonyBear. Bone wall makes nice funnell for bunching up the flayers, and bone spear decimates them. I decided to stick with 1 pt each clay golem, summon resist and golem mastery, and let +skills take it from there. Hopefully that is enough to be useful. 4 more for curses... That leaves lots for bone skills.... even with this I see more could help (5 main skills all useful for synergy! up to 100pts is crazy!) Anyway, nothing really notable has happened so far the first few acts are pretty standard.

I have untwinked Patriarch bonemancer in 1.10. He is one of my best equipped characters too because he is my only char, who found Vex rune and made HOTO.

His stats are:

Level 89

Strength: 85
Dexterity: 40
Vitality: 210
Energy: 200 (I’d put all this points to Vit, but it is SC char and he really needs mana).

Skills:

1 point in ALL skills.
Max Bone Spear
Max Bone Spirit
Max Bone Prison
Max Corpse Explosion.

I would nod post his items to be a bit humble, but trust me, it is rather good equipment from high-end caster wish list.

He is unstoppable in /players8 Hell. He can kill anyone and no one can kill him, except some occasional stupid deaths, that are normal in SC.

I built him in 2003 year, and looking back now I think, that it would be better to put all CE points to bone wall and put to teeth as many points from other trees as possible.

Well my sorcy have now made it to my favourite place...........PINDLE.

It's time to kill him alot of times before I move on and kill Baal.

Have made Excel sheets all the way to level 90.
The first levels was really fast over with players8 settings, level 83 took only 23 runs before I reached level 84, and the result was 2 Elite Unique and 1 normal unique.

She have made a couple of runs and is now at level 87. Pindle gets killed very fast much faster than my level 93 Orb/Chain lightning sorc.

The result for the 4 level (139 runs) is:
8 Uniques
9 sets
4 runes

Good news. I think this barb is Hell-worthy. He's just run through the Moors at /players 3 and had no problems (except for the two PI/CI bosses :grrr: ). I may have to boost the setting to see how he does.

The NM cows were nice and dropped 4 set items (chaos armour, ancient armour, mesh belt, amulet (Tancred)) and 1 unique (rune sceptre). He's now wearing the chaos armour (def = 857) and things are looking good. With conc, shout, BO, etc. he's got 3500+ def and 2500+ life. Sweeeet.

First green drop in Hell was Cathan's Mesh. I guess some things never change. Didn't that same item drop in A1 Normal? :scratch: :lol:

Edit: DX and the Runeword Wizard are correct. Black is a Hammer word. No workie in Sceptres. C'est la vie. Time to find a new socketed weapon to work with.
 
Woohoo my sorc is have now reached guardian status.

I ran pindle until level 89 to get my blizzdamage above 4000. Then I went and killed the Ancients and Baal. The Ancients didn't cause any trouble, the thrower and the WW wasn't CI. The Leaper was CI but my merc tanked him and I casted Fire Wall on him.

Baal wasn't much trouble either, the second wave took the longest time because of the skeletons which are CI and never stood still so my fire wall could do the job correct but they finally fell and Lister wasn't CI so he fell very fast aswell.

As for me, I took BonyBear as far as Shenk. Even on p8 he is very fast, and bone spear is still ripping up enemies. Of coures, it also is starting to really rip through the mana potions. This is easily the best performance of any necro I have tried. I'm not very good at Bone Wall yet though, hopefully it will come with practice.

Hooray, BonyBear made conqueror today, making him the best I have ever done with a necro. Bone spear does serious damage, and the way it pierces is awesome. He has currently maxed bone spear, and is working on bone prison. I put a fair number of pts into bone wall first to have either as an option, and soon it will be time to max bone spirit for a single monster killer. Anyway, with the back and forth synergies for all of these, it will make for a tough build.

A few levelling runs to really toughen him up, then on to NM!

Yes it's very crowded thanks to all the other projekts going on but I guess I have myself to blaim for that.

Congratz to your conquorer C_B a bonemancer is often very viable in Hell so hope he will make it all the way, Good Luck

Haven't been much playing yet but thanks to some Pindle and Baal run my Sossy is now a level 90. It's still rather fast leveling because she can take on the three last waves on players8 and Baal on players5 and she can also run pindle on players8 and it's quite good Exp from that guy and his friends.

She have also tried Cowlevel a couple of times need that set for my grail, and plasyers8 there as well. Most of the times they can't reach your merc before they fall.

Wow, big congrats on the lvl90 DX :worship: And also to you CB on the Conqueror :clap:

I've moved David the 12/18 Hunter through acts 1&2 of NM. He has already maxed wolves and HoW, and has been pumping Fissure. The only problem in A1 was Andariel, but she eventually fell, dropping nothing, as usual. :)

Then in A2, I had to make a tough decision. I've been using a Barb merc, for the first time ever. But now was "supposed to" switch to a Might merc. I just couldn't. This barb is such fun to watch! He spints all over the place looking for things to kill. Yeah, he dies a lot, but it's a nice change of pace from the standard approach. The downside is that my damage will suffer, especially in Hell. So I will be forced down from players8 soon.
