switching mercs is really frustrating when the later is in the 30's, I've changed my lvl 66 rougue for a lvl 31 barb, so I'm babysitting right now.

(IMO a 96%mf armor is better than a wealth, just to not spend the runes, better yet a jewelers armor of something :))
 
My sossy is flying through the acts and the levels keep on coming. After I reached lvl 30 and Frozen Orb was available everything is going faster. And when I reached lvl 42 and I put on The Occulus it have been speeding up even more. She is now in act 2 Nightmare.
I will probably buy a Holy Freeze merc in act 2 always nice to fight slow monsters.

Oh the indecision...
Cygnet the sorc has made lvl 28 and is at the river of flame. Got an El on the Hellforge drop ...grr....

I've got 10 skill points just waiting to distribute when I hit lvl 30
I was thinking Hydra, but have remembered how little dmg it does by comparison to meteor... of course, Hydra is also extremely safe for HC.
But then, I could dump 4 pts into meteor now and have more dmg to keep moving, plus the double direction meteor-fireball synergy is so nice.... augh! Can't make up my mind.

I wonder if I can complete Normal without spending any more Skill points before I make up my mind...
 
Sorry about that Randall, I thought you said you had a 4S Armour. So how about 4 P Topaz's and one of those armours that I can then socket?

In an effort to eliminate any hope of a life outside of work and D2 I am officially starting characters on all the ladders. All will be played by Septivirate rules and all will play Normal on /players 8. Some have yet to set foot outside of the Encampment but they'll get their turn. All I have to do is keep the skill hot keys straight in my head.

The Paladin is already on the ladder. I announced Quick_Sliver a couple of days ago but she hadn't been posted last I looked. The rest were born last night.

Here is the ragged crew:

Animal_Passion, level 1, were-something druid (open to suggestions)

@ crazy_bear I'd put them in Meteor unless you want to push up 2 level 30 skills at once - Hydra will only be able to go up 1 point per level up.

@ tragor Good Luck! I can only keep one set up skill keys in my head at a time so playing multiple characters at once is a real no-no.

Hello,

like I've written also else where in this forum I retired all my SC characters and started to play in HC.

Necros (very original, so sue me) is now level 30 fishymancer and mapping the Great Marshes in normal /players 8.

Nothing special, except he's already found first full set: Geglaw's Brace.

In SC I never found even one full set. :-(

As he is not muling anything else on than his own runes, gems and potions I imagine that he's eligible for the Septavirate if I ever get him as guardian.

My first female conquorer is now a fact. Icy_Ploppy killed Baal only a few minutes ago at level 67. No huge problems, Lister was CI so I have to use meteor and merc. My meteor is not that strong yet but it will be before I will get to Hell.

Today, and just about 5 minutes ago, I achieved something I have been looking forward to for a long time. I just made my first Destroyer in v1.10, and my first in a LONG time. He is going totally untwinked, using only items he finds himself, just like my first SC Pat. He just completed Norm at clvl 44. At current he is 45 from a couple Baal MF runs.

Now for some stories...

I did ancients as usual on /players1. Even with maxed BH (mana cost is 9.2 i think), I didn't use a mana pot against them. I guess 800 hammer damage is just too much for the barbs in norm.

Lister was probably one of the scariest parts of the game, and definately the hardest. I lost two SP HC zealots to Lister, and I wasn't about to lose this one.

I was on /players8, as I wanted the XP. Every other wave went down in decent time, even the 4th.

Then Lister dropped. So I start hammering away, and I end up retreating and casting at the same time. I never realized how many HP those minions have on /players8, and I was thinking it was going to bite me hard.

So I eventually backed all the way up to the stairs and ended up separating them from lister. It was now 4 (lister + 3 others) vs. me and my defiance merc.

Maybe its just me, but those minions are incredibly hard to hit with hammers, like thier huge visual size is actually much smaller to the hammers. Anyway, I went through 2 TP's, 6 FRJs, and 8 each of mana/life pots. no NDE's, but nonetheless, it was NOT FUN!

Baal was a cake walk, although it was still on 8, and he died with no problems aside from boosting to town for pots. He dropped a the Lance of Yaggai

Yeah, I ended up doing this. I played a hydra-orb sorc before and hydra just didn't have the killing power for hell difficulty. Even on my sorc that hit lvl 28 hydra, lvl 28 fire mastery.

Me too.... I never played HC before this ladder, but couldn't see the challenge in seeing how high lvl a char could reach if you can't die so the ladder seemed cool.
I think I would have stopped playing all together a couple of months ago if this hadn't come up.

I did find angelic mantle, 2xwings and sabre, but no rings...

As for me, Cygnet defeated Big D at lvl 28 using blizzard/meteor. Leveled in Foothills to 32 then rescued Anya. I ran Pindle and the Garden to Lvl 37 then did Ancients and Baal. She is now running Baal, getting levels (now 42) and hoping to find some decent equipment. She's currently equipped with a nice orb she found (can't remember where):

At last I brought myself together and worked my hammerdin towards the Hell Ancients. I was a bit lucky I guess already on the second reroll there were some mods that I am capable to handle no FE on the first roll the thrower guy was FE so I quikly brought up a TP to reset them. After that it was relatively easy and getting to the last TP was no problem. Now my hammerdin have come just as far as my first necromancer which died in WSK 2 by a gloam. This character is better prepared for the gloams he survived the frozen rivers which was filled with gloams. Hopefully he will soon be a guardian maybe already tonight.

Have also played with my sossy. She have played to the Black Marsh in hell. Have a bit problems with CIFI but my merc will handle them.

My hammerdin is now a Guardian :clap: he killed Hell Baal with relatively ease. After the Ancients there wasn't much fight some gloams were nasty to my merc but no real danger. Lister was extra fast but i survived that as well although i had to revive my merc.

Rusull battled his way past Andarial and has entered Lut Golein.

My wand with LR charges came in handy against the numerous FIPI undead in the catacombs. Fouldog Pitspawn was a handful as well since he was CELE/cursed *shudder*. My bear and merc died a bunch of times in that sequence. Andy offered me a resist all jewel, which made a nice upgrade for my "weapon":

This club took a little work to create. First it was a long-time-coming gamble to get the +2 skills. Then Larzuk gave me 2 sockets :) , followed by Anya personalizing, finally the jewel. Now I'm on the lookout for one more good jewel.

I'll also need to start thinking about using my remaining quest rewards - 2 imbues and 1 socket. Probably use them for merc upgrades.

I didn't even know Norm Baal could drop it but he did... found a Titan's Revenge...

Also found Sigons Shield and a +2 cold skills circlet on another run.

At level 47, Cygnet is now in NM mode, and found a 4 socket flail! Now all I have to do is collect about 30,000,000 els from the countess, and I could cube myself a heart of the oak :drool:

Checked out the Septavirate site... since Cygnet is untwinked, that would qualify her right? If so, please welcome your latest quester...
 
Sliver had been thinking. Things were not going well and a couple of NDE's had her convinced that something was very wrong. For starters, she just didn't seem to be doing enough damage. She practiced her martial arts diligently but it still took two full charge-release cycles to kill some of the demons she'd encountered. Things were getting way scary. If she got surrounded, she wouldn't last long and she kinda liked breathing and such. Also, she'd had to resurrect the rogue, Basanti, several times and she felt bad about getting her killed. She needed an edge.

Remembering some of the old tricks she learned back in her dojo as a kid, she started taking quiet time to focus her mind. Gradually she was able to focus to the point of delivering a mental punch. Soon after, she found that she had the ability to wrap the darkness around herself. "This could be real handy" she thought. But it still wasn't the kind of edge she knew she needed. And she needed it soon because Andariel's lair had to be close.

Then it happened. She had cleared her mind and was practicing her arts when she heard a strange sound. Turning she saw another girl dressed just like her. Holy cow, it WAS her. A mirror image of herself. At first she couldn't figure out what had happened but she soon realized that her need for help was ever-present in her mind, even when meditating. So her mind had provided help. With a little practice she found she could create her mirror image at will.

In their initial forays into the Catacombs, Sliver fought side-by-side with her mirror. It didn't take long to discover that the mirror could take far more abuse than she could. More and more she let the image take point while she worked from behind with Basanti. Things were getting easier and Sliver started thinking that she had a workable plan. She and Basanti would bombard Andariel with missiles while the false Sliver would go toe-to-toe. When the copy was destroyed, she would simply create a new one. She had her edge and Andariel was going to regret coming to Sanctuary.


And so it went. Quick_Sliver and the merc threw/shot everything they had and the Shadow tanked. Had to recast the Shadow four times but overall one of the easiest take-downs I've had even with a pathetic 26% poison res. (Note, this is one of the first characters I've ever had that did not find the Death's set gloves.)

I'm feeling much better about her chances for survival now but there are still some wrinkles to iron out. This is my first assassin to go past Andy so it's all new terrain for me. Now that she's in A2 I think I'll give one of the others a run. Maybe get them all to A2 and then start the cycle again.

Only three finds, so far: Hsaru's Iron Heel, Deathspade (found in the monastery) and Stoutnail (dropped by Andy). The last item went straight into the grail stash as I doubt I'll ever use it.

@DX Congrats on your Guardian !

I just managed to do my second Conqueror on the HCL. tHe_aVengeR had no problems killing Baal and his minions. I was lucky with the Ancients. Korlic spawned Teleport :lol: Madawc was LE and Talic(? i'm never sure about the names) was Mana Burn which caused no problem with my 10+% mana leech.
Now I'm going to level him up a bit by doing baalruns. He is now clvl 74 Hoping to find some nice items.
Rev_AnGeL is now clvl 63 and she has just killed Mephisto. She is handling NM on /players8 with 250+ MF very well. Now I will do mephruns with her until I get bored.

The Immortal Tree Lurker
I was clearing out the Kurast Bazaar with my sorc when this happened. A pack of tree lurkers attacked me and I tried to kill them with an FO/Meteor combo. Now here's a strange thing: ONE tree lurker remained alive with only a little bit of life and everything ignored him. My merc ignored him completely, I could cast FO/Meteor endlessly, I couldn't hit him. But he remained active and could actualy hit me. I made a couple of screenshots, but I don't have a place to put them.
This is a strange bug I never encountered before.
