SPF Migration Plan

Like moving house, it is going to feel like we have people and boxes scattered across two sites for a while. We are also going to need everyone to help out to get this place feeling like home again.

We are the busiest forum, so we have the most to move. My rough plan of attack is as follows:

1. Get the people moved accross - Please encourage everyone to get registered and start using this site as the default.
2. Move the main threads, even if they link back to the old site. Tournament owners will hopefully move their own threads, we will need volunteers for the others
3. Move sub threads - Mat, Pat & Guardian write ups etc. I'm thinking threads with multiple characters in - e.g I may make a thread "maxicek's Assassin Archive" will 22 Mat's in it. We will need volunteers here too for the threads without
4. Update the links in the threads on this site. Whoever moves the tread over will also need to repair the links.

Please help where you can.

It is a very good time to compile a thread with various very precious information posts discussed in random threads. Mainly I mean posts from 99er Compendium, Untwinked 99er, D2 Lounge and so on. I've been trying to come up with an easy to search through and read format but I'm not really that good at that.

I can help with a few threads but I can't promise when will I have time for that so I'll refrain from signing up just yet.

I'm going to repost my Bugs and Crashes guide right now as well as the '1.08 News, Info and Gossip' thread since GalaXyHaXz isn't around anymore. I'll also add a finishing section about new discoveries (crafting and such) to freshen it up.

I would be happy to repost the chart of holy grail and runeword grail status's, since I was recently participating in them. I can certainly do more, but didn't know if i should leave other grail tables to people who are actively participating in them? I'm kind of in a weird spot, as I imagine many are, where I'd be happy to help but am not sure what I should take on without overstepping. Any thoughts?

As far as those two threads go (and perhaps applicable to others as well). What do you think about posting the full old forum status in a spoiler or lower chart (I'm very serious about wanting to preserve as much SPF history as possible), but making the top/displayed chart one where active members who have registered with the new site display their status? For example I would expect you (maxicek) and albratross to move your completed grail from "historical data" to "active members", even though you've completed the project. A good idea to clean things up or unnecessarily ostracizing of the old members accomplishments?

I would also really encourage/request a subforum where we can just dump old data from the other forum without flooding our current SPF. A situation like that would encourage me to post things like all the long term grail/contest progress charts without feeling like I'm stealing the thunder of the real participants. Lastly, is there any movement on an official discord? I do think that would aid the migration efforts quite a bit.

Yes, it's 2 clicks to move a thread from one subforum to another.

I love the history of the push for 99. Ever since the recent re-linking in the old place I've been tempted to go through and find all the 99 char threads and fix their links. Bringing themover completely will be a little more work but not too much. I wouldn't mind working on the 99 progress thread too but there's so much history there, I'm curious to see what people come up with for preserving info before I dive into that.

I can start work on the Mat/Pat/Guardian Compilation. For now I think it should be easy enough to simply move the list over wholesale and just make sure all the links work. If we do decide to add a Mat/Pat/Guardian write-up subforum, I can move over each of those threads and re-do all the links. I'll try to at least get the main page up and going within the next day or so.

I figure that @Pb_pal will be working on Mat/Pat/Guard Compilation? .. but that seems like a monumental undertaking. I'll volunteer to help out with it however I can.

@maxicek - Is it true that we need to be careful NOT to mention pureD over on Dii.net? If so, I think that should be stated a bit more clearly to everyone that comes over. Wouldn't want a slip-up to cost us our window of opportunity to back up all this info.

I will try to move all the tournaments as mentioned in another thread. For starters, I will try to post the initial rules, plus additional rule changes and the last progree table. As a header I will post the initial host and date of the tournament.

I do have to know though, if I should wait some time for a potential subforum or if I should just spam the main forum. There are LOTS of tournaments though...

Also,helpnis appreciated. Don't know how much time I'll have... If I have lots of free time (cough) I might think of a way to post progress posts (mainly for active tournaments for starters).

I can also set up a new thread for the perfect grail and offer my version of the spreadsheet to link to (with all different Ormus' Robes for example).

I took the liberty of adding a ton of threads and grouping them by theme, starting with general guides/compendia followed by grails and 99er stuff, then efficiency followed by time travel. I also made some changes to the 1.08 Thread (marked as my own edits by formating) before posting it so that it's more up to date. (for example I added a post by WoRG stating that ilvl 99 crafts can be done in 1.08 just like in 1.07).

@Helvete I would like to repost the 1.10a/1.10s guides and complete them with everything we know about those two patches (plus stuff I verified with the help of the .txts). I don't want to do that though if you already made a guide for those but didn't post it yet.

I will also try to handle the superchest patterns thread, I would like to keep the tables and add images of every superchest in the game as well as fruit's full list of patterns and explanations concerning their drop mechanism. The patterns by fruit would be spoilered and everything so that people wanting to find patterns on their own would have a chance to do so.

I think it would be prudent to make the 1.07 pattern thread into a 1.07, 1.08, 1.09 and 1.10a-1.12 superchest thread so that all 'prehistoric' patterns can be easily found in one single place.

I like the idea of parsing these all in one thread with each character report as their own post. Question is, do we want to cut out all the replies? Granted, most of those boil down to “good job”, though there are cases of Q and A’s that some may find enlightening being cut out if we do.
