Some sorc questions, please share teh wisdom!

Hey guys, couple of quick questions, most of them oldies but goodies.

I have done a meteorb, and am now finishing off a blizzard. Last time I went max life, no dex at all.

1) Where do I do runs with the Blizzard? In nmare and Hell, plz. Where should I stay the *bleep* away from?

2) Mercs....People say holy freeze, but I have a big problem teleing and getting caught by mobs who put me in hit recovery until I die. Defiance merc sure this, or should I do might for the immunes? Note-I am poor, cannot afford the Doom axe yet.

3) Noting the above, I was tinkering with going for max block with this char. She will also be called upon to hunt d-clone, and kill the occasional hammerdin that ticks me off. Not really PvP per se, but if pressed would dex be a good idea here, or leave it alone? Can someone link me to the math, so I can figure it out....and will block help me not die during tele?

4) What's good gear to have in mind for d-clone? I have a rising sun and a dwarfstar, so the fire-ring is covered, what else?

TY for the info, Ill check every hour or so to see the posts. Later folks! :yep:

Andarial can be a very profitable boss to run in NM. She has some decent chances to drop the Stone of Jordan, since she can't drop the higher level unique rings. The only other place I run in NM is Pindleskin.

In Hell, run Andarial and Mephisto. Run the Mausoleum in Act 1, and the Ancient Tunnels in Act 2. I run the Council in Tristram if I get bored, they can drop nice runes, and they chuck out a lot of gold. Run Pindleskin, and if you have a good merc, do Baal runs. Stay away from the Pit, it's not worth it with a Blizzard sorceress, and the Mausoleum & Ancient Tunnels drop just as well.

My advice is not to tele into groups of monsters :) Play cautiously. I would suggest you get a Might merc to start you off, because when he gets to a high level, there's pretty much nothing he can't kill. Plus, when you can afford it, you can throw a doom on him, and it makes him double dangerous. I wouldn't recommend going with a defiance for a blizz sorc.

Not going to be a good Dclone killer. Despite the fact that Blizzard does awesome damage, and is a darn usefull spell, I don't find it to be very effective against the Diablo Clone. I can kill the clone with my Blizz sorc, but I usually have to resurrect my merc once or twice, and I have to drink some pots myself, and feed the merc some as well. I much prefer to kill the clone with my zealot.

As for killing the occasional hammerdin, unless he's got mad resists, he shouldn't present much of a problem. Stay out of the way of his hammers, and cast blizzard on yourself (especially if he has enigma), then teleport away and cast an Ice Blast or two in his direction. Never get close!

A pure PvP sorc might go for max block if she planned on dueling zons. Otherwise, you shouldn't get hit by other melee characters. I never go the max block route with my sorceresses, because my philosophy is to get hit as infrequently as possible. Unless you want to kill bowzons, don't bother with max block. (In my opinion)

Back to the dying while you teleport thing, I make up for the lack of block by having 8fps teleport. You can usually escape death by being able to teleport quickly. If I remember correctly, the breakpoint is 105%.

Again, I wouldn't recommend building a blizzard sorceress to kill the diablo clone. That said, A rising sun would all but eliminate his fire damage if you had 75 or 80 resistance. The problem is, without a merc to tank/PMH him, he will heal faster than you can damage him. Without a merc at all, he will chase you and run around like a crazy person, and you'll have a rough time hitting him. Plus he will heal like woah.

OK, I'll skip the shield and get a might merc. TY for the tips.
For the teleing, I might be having trouble with my fcr and hr rates. My setup, for around level 70, is:
Occy
Shako (ptopazed)
The Ward (resistances)
P. Vipermagi (ptopazed, looking for Tal Armor now)
Tal ammy
Tal Belt
P. Chancies
2x P. Nagels
and Cow King Boots cuz I can't afford travs yet.

Any tips on what to switch out, yet maintain FCR and get better hit recovery?

Don't have much choice about doing DClone with her, I'll have to give it a shot. Right now, because of college, I only play about 2-4 hrs a week. I finished a meteorb for MF, and now am doing a Blizz to do some areas.

I'll just use a merc with the "prevent monster heal" attribute and hope for the best.

Neither hammerdins nor DClone had anything to fear from teh meteorb, but they better watch out for my blizzard!

One last thing, is there any combination of gear, expensive or not, that will break the cold immunity? With plus skills, facets, anything?

If you want res... I would suggest getting a moser blessed circle and putting 2 pdiamonds in it.

As for your FCR, you can either switch in trangs/magefists. Or can exchange a nagel or two for some nice fcr/mf rings... I would also suggest silkweaves as a nice boot while your waiting for travs.

As for DC, he is touch to kill with a sorc because of his huge res... and with the cold res question.. you can use a wand of Lower Resist on switch.. but I prefer just letting a nice merc tank them all.

TY for the tips, have a beer on me! :drink:

OK, so the rest of my gear was cool then?

What's optimum final game gear, both PvP/PvM and for MFing?

Im picturing:

For MF:
Isted baba
Shako, ptopazed
Tal Armor
Tal Belt
Tal Ammy
Travs
2 p. nagels
and?

PvP:
Tal Armor
Tal Ammy
arachs
2 sojs
magefist?
and then Im lost....

One more question, how do I run pindleskin?

I have somehow managed to play for 8-10 moths and don't remember seeing him. I know he's involved witht the Anya quest, but where and how do I find him?

Please excuse the newb-ness....!

Once I get the armor, Ill have Full Tals. Is that a good idea, end-game?

Apart from very high end gear consisting of runewords and other high value items full Tal Rasha set is the best thing you can get for a Sorceress that does Magic Find and wants to get through the game in one piece and still have very good killing power. That set simply offers alot of stuff you won't like to miss.

Unless you can afford runewords like Call to Arms, Chains of Honor, Heart of the Oak and other expensive stuff this is simply the way to go.

When you have freed Anya she will open an orange portal next o here that will lead directly to the entrance of Nithalaks Temple, which is guarded by the Undead and their boss Pindleskin.
Beware though! IF you decide to go down and eihter activate the waypoint in the Halls of Anguish that orange portal will be gone and you will have to teleport up to the entranc again form the waypoint, which is a very very long way.

After you rescue Anya, she opens a red portal, he's in that first area once you go in there.

If you kill Nihlathak, she won't make the portal. You can get the WP in the Halls of pain without losing the portal, but that and the N. Quest will make her not keep the portal open.

As for your final mf gear, I wouldn't suggest isted baba, maybe on a switch if you don't mind switiching, but I would say use an occy for all around use, you will kill faster and get to him faster with +skills and FCR, and still have 50 mf, how lovely!
